  1. Flying one of the routes around the NTTR I have often burned through a good portion of my fuel. Often the routes will last an hour+. The map may be smallish in dimensions, but it is large in scope of what can be accomplished within its borders.
  2. Why not the top of the tail of a C-47
  3. USSInchon

    Active duty

    USN once upon a time.
  4. It's White-White-GREEN for Military, and White-GREEN for Civil Land although it does sometimes come off blue, especially with the new LED beacons.
  5. Thank you for making me feel like I am a kid again. :megalol:
  6. I think this closes the case...we need Herks or C-17s (with puking navs).
  7. This has always bugged me about the ships in DCS, none of the USN ships are configured for flight quarters. Even the Nimitz has it's radio antennas in the vertical rather than the horizontal.
  8. Disable mod...run repair...re-enable mod
  9. I believe the reason for not including "aliens" at or near Groom was due to the USAF threatening to pull their contracts with ED should they reference anything with Area 51 and aliens. :pilotfly: I kid of course
  10. Well it would cut down on folks flying to the AO and getting shot down.
  11. Most CONUS military bases have either the BAK-12 or the E-28 systems installed. Some are permanently raised while others can be retracted to be flush with the pavement when not needed.
  12. VF-101 Tomcat at NAS JRB New Orleans
  13. We don't know much about bases, but it would be a good assumption to say Abu Dhabi will be covered as well since the main allied base is just southeast of the city.
  14. Just watched your video from April 1. You weren't by any chance part of the F-117 Airshow support crew around 2003ish where you?
  15. Also if you got around $60 million burning a hole in your pocket...try the G650. It's a dream to fly up front, and I am sure not too shabby in the back either. 17 hours you can be anywhere in the world.
  16. Pilatus PC-12. It has the range, speed, and capacity very close to a King Air, is single pilot IFR rated, and can go as slow as a Cessna on final. Plus it can land on almost any surface. Some pilots I know that fly it call it The Fisher Price My First Turboprop because it is so simple to operate.
  17. Don't forget CATCC. That officer in the tower would get nothing done without the blue shirt AC's down stairs.
  18. They have stated in one of the previous news letters that the NTC was going to be added.
  19. The late '80s really did have the most diverse flight deck, and flight decks to land on.
  20. check with the US Naval History and Heritage Command http://www.history.navy.mil/
  21. Real NOLF and Carrier Landing Practice areas do not have arresting gear. The idea is not to trap but to maximize approach to landing practice without the cost of sending out a carrier. The arresting gear that is located where fighters are, is for emergencies only.
  22. My favorite memory from them were the post-maintenance flights, where they would fly to about a mile short of the runway at 10,000ish then dive for the deck, pulling out at 100 or so feet screaming down the runway then climbing back into the downwind. Freaked me out the first few times I saw it. When I get a chance I will do a 2000 era 926th bird.
  23. I know, I used to work them when I was an AC at NAS New Orleans.
  24. Technically they are skinned with the Barksdale skin, since their birds were split between them and Whiteman. I do miss working the Cajuns.
  25. Sounds great Towsim.
