  1. There is also just the possibility that the polarization of the amraam and what the spo-15 can receive aren't in tune.
  2. Yeah MP seems to really screw with it far more so than SP but why? The lack of coasting/correlation is a big issue that makes the radar very hard to nearly impossible to use.
  3. And as was shown to you in the other thread the current lift values lineup with what was measured in a few wind tunnel tests that we have. The current values really don't seem out of line at all.
  4. Its almost certainly a combination of the Chaff and INS bugs. And probably in combination with some F18 specific weirdness. Both the chaff and INS bugs have been reported but well its been months with no fixes yet so it may take a while.
  5. Still though after watching all of the missiles that didn't get chaffed or INS bugged tracked because you never fell into the doppler notch, the apparent closure rate remained outside of this region. Notching the new missiles is not an easy task, as it should be, because of their new guidance. It makes it quite hard to get them into a position where they get notched simply by just putting them on your 3/9 line.
  6. I think that the 50's or the german planes DM is slightly off. Like it doesn't seem to be ridiculously off but it just seems that either the 50's are a bit too weak or the 109/190 are just a touch bit to durable. Average kill amount i've been seeing is 60-120 hits. Some i've seen soak up over 200. Yeah their heavily damaged but it just seems a bit to high in terms of hits. I'd be nice if we had a WT level of after action so we could better diagnose this. @BIGNEWYdoes ED have some kind of debugger/X-ray vision mode for the DM? Would be nice for players to have that to test.
  7. Yeah its on the old FM, and by old I mean old old like pre-flaming cliffs FM. As such its quite bad and not realistic, it'll probably get fixed someday but it'll be a while.
  8. You didn't notch them (watched all 3) the closure rate between the relative radial speeds were always above the notch filter (its somewhere in the 20-50kt region in DCS). It is hard to notch them because this is a 3D problem and the new guidance and the way it works (APN) you will generally see some offset which will make notching almost impossible.
  9. @BIGNEWYMay be worth making sure this is reported.
  10. Agreed
  11. Hmmm I mean that's what they say but even in SP I've had stuff like SA2's pass within feet of my jet many a time and nothing so i'm not so sure anymore. Maybe the code is there but if its working (especially working as it should) i'm not so sure.
  12. No but there are documents out there with all of this stuff in them (up to a point older the more stuff). And its kind of hard to make a bug thread if you don't even have access to the file to see if its wrong. You can't guesstimate stuff particularly well from in game.
  13. Yeah I haven't seen one recorellate either in the track this is what happens.
  14. Yup the last ditch defense with chaff to potentially increase miss distance is absolutely a possibility. In the case of the 29 we don't really know what happened so its not really a datapoint that's usable. Agreed their eating chaff and the ECM bug just as badly as the US ones are.
  15. Considering that specific ECM techniques have had to be developed for monopulse seekers I can't really see the kind of ECM we have in game having much effect. In the case of the situation you listed there's no way to know what happened it could have guided properly but failed to detonate there's a whole slew of possibilities. Based on the description of the event it sounds far more likely that there was a missile failure than it getting chaffed or notched.
  16. When hot or cold, even right up to the notch, and especially if the target is moving quickly chaff should have very little to no effect on missiles like the 120/SD10/54/77. The chaff bundle will fall outside of the res cell to quickly, and fall into the doppler filters, and the amount of time it takes to bloom wouldn't help in the matter. Were talking probably in the range of 1000-1500m/s of decel on chaff. It seems monopulse systems such as the 120/7/27 should also have some benefits in that they have the ability to determine there are multiple targets in the res cell and would allow them to implement any electronic based CCM quicker. For the amraam its data link would help further, if it's getting updates as far as were aware it should allow it to reject false contacts (such as chaff or an unintended target such as a friendly) in favor of the host radars target. This would also help it in getting through the notch. Even if the missile gets notched or break lock somehow happens with chaff if the host radar still has the target then it should still be able to get the missile close enough that notching/chaff based break lock becomes essentially impossible. Hec currently the missile once chaffed (maybe even notched not 100% sure) won't reacquire. Chaff if to be used needs to be used in extremely large amounts in an essentially continuous stream while in a high-g maneuver, to increase the bloom rate, into the notch. In theory chaff always being in the res cell could increase miss distance enough to allow you to survive a proxy detonation. maybe even a miss if the warhead/fuze range is small (not really the case for many missiles). Some texts (and rlf pilots) have indicated possible utility in throwing off rapid requisition attempts if your notch isn't perfect although this seems to be more true for static sam radars than missile radars that are always moving. Ultimately though there's a reason western jets all moved too towed decoys.
  17. Based on this thread I have some question/concerns regarding RWR/s A) Should the RWR's be able to see stuff like the E2? And other low frequency SR's? B) Should RWR's like the SPO10 be able to see stuff like the amraam iirc the operating freq is above 10ghz? C) Should RWR's give a launch warning on an active missile when fired from STT?

  18. This is interesting would be nice to have this added.
  19. Yeah we'll see if they come back but for now mod doesn't work anymore
  20. Essentially i'm trying to load a bunch of infantry groups into a single APC group that has a bunch of units however only the first infantry group embarks. LoadingBug.trk
  21. It seems to me the main benifit of STT over TWS would be a higher refresh rate as a way to increase PK in the presence of jamming/chaff/notching. I do agree completely that TWS is not useless the area covered by the seeker when it comes on is going to be significantly larger than errors in location. Like it just takes jets too long to significantly change the position of their velocity vectors to really build up any large error in the few seconds between TWS updates.
  22. This is my understanding as well, its hard to really say for sure something is off and especially by how much without being able to look at and test the actual EFM.
  23. Any chance you'd be willing to share the data/docs it comes from? Would love to take a look!
