  1. Here's another treat for you. I've played around with a .lua files and managed to make the sight bigger. Now the values are correct. To install replace the "PilotSight_page.lua" file in "Eagle Dynamics\DCS World\Mods\aircraft\Uh-1H\Cockpit\Scripts\PilotSight\Indicator" Cheers! PilotSight_page.lua
  2. If set to carrier the AOA indexer will blink if the gear is down and the hook is up and stop blinking if it is down. If set to field the AOA will not blink regardless of the hook position.
  3. Just replace the file in Don't forget to backup the original one. You're welcome. EDIT. Just bear in mind it's not 100% accurate as the outer circle in DCS is 50 mil and with this sight it should be 80. sight_XM60.zip
  4. Think of it that way - if it were that simple they would've done it already.
  5. Thank you. Do you plan to release these features in this order?
  6. Yeah, BRC 48 means 048, not 480.
  7. I don't have enough time to read through all of this info right now, so sorry if I post something that was already said. However I did some research a while ago on how gun harmonization was performed in the RAF during the Battle of Brittain and found this intresting article: https://www.kenleyrevival.org/content/history/faces-of-kenley/ground-crew-raf-kenley#section1 In short, the harmonization was performed at the airfileld, but the guns weren't fired. Instead they inserted a small periscope-like device into the breach of the gun and adjusted the angle to aim the gun at the specific plate on a pre-calculated board placed 50 yards in front of the aircraft. Here is a picture of the harmonizing unit: Here's a picture of the board: The disc in the middle is most likely to calibrate the gunsight and the one just below it on the left is for the camera.
  8. I mapped mine to the analog stick on the throttle. Works surprisingly well with a little bit of tuning.
  9. Well, don't use them for BVR would be my first suggestion. They lose energy very quickly and if you lose lock the missile's gone. In my experience they works best just outside the max range of a Sidewinder. If you're flying against the AI the best tactic IMHO is to avoid enemy missiles until you get close enough. In other words don't think of them as a slightly worse AMRAAM but rather as a semi active slightly longer range Sidewinder.

Another way of doing it is once you're set up on the cat throttle up until the CHK TRIM message appears on the left DDI and the trip up until it disappears.
  11. Just my 2 cents as I've recently bought one myself: Depends on many factors. First of all, what do you currently use? If you already have a warthog then the F-18 stick is just a matter of "do I have the spare cash for it" as it doesn't provide much when it comes to functionality or ergonomics (apart from the feel of the buttons which I've heard is better than warthog - I've never owned a warthog before so can't say for myself) Secondly, what types of jets are you flying mostly? If you spend most of your time in the F/A-18 or the Harrier than it works great. As for the other jets, I haven't had any issues using it on the F-16 - I've mapped one of the missing hats on the throttle - the RL F-16 throttle still has less buttons than the warthog so that wasn't a problem. The A-10 however is a different story. Since I'm using the small buttons on the center for VR I have no idea how I'd map it for the hog. That's also one of the reasons I don't plan on buying the A-10. As for the ergonomics, you can easily place it on the chair between your legs. It's quite stable, actually once you sit on it and I don't find it uncomfortable.
  12. Had a similar problem once. Deleting the tanker and placing a new one helped. My guess is, it's related to waypoint actions They should look like that: When I removed the actions and placed a "Tanker" action manually it didn't work (I couldn't find a way to add -a at the end but since I'm not even sure what it means I don't know if it's related).
  13. Yeah, sorry, didn't notice that. As far as I remember the last time I used the IR Mav I did this: first I pressed the TDC - the crosshair shows up then I moved the TDC while pressed to point it
  14. Check if you have "realistic TDC" checked in the Special menu. If it is you need to keep TDC pressed while slewing it.
  15. I'm tempted to say "get a better HOTAS and a VR headset" cause it was way easier that way for me. But... I've struggled with AAR myself and got it without those gadgets so it can be done. Maverick's video is really good. I'd also suggest setting up curves on the stick. I was overcorrecting, even with tiny movements of the stick and setting the curves helped a lot.
  16. Haven't seen your track file but here are some of the things that helped me out. Setup a simple mission in ME with only you and the carrier. Don't forget to hibe the carrier some speed, like 20 kn. Setup everything (TCN ICLS BRC course on HSI) before takeoff. After launch don't raise gear or flaps, establish positive climb and start turning left. Then call inbound and "see you at 10" after you get the response. If you're within 3 nm you'll automatically get a "charlie". If your approaches are bad, land with hook up at first. You'll save some time that way. Just remember to call the tower after a bolter. At first start with longer approaches (for me it was about 3nm from the deck) and then shorten them up as you get more confident. When turning final and "in the groove" try to fix your errors (use ICLS for reference) as fast as possible. Problems tend to compound very quickly. Don't follow the ICLS lines when you're within 1nm of the carrier. You'll get better results if you focus on the deck and the ball (at least I did). Get used to moving the throttle all the time. Trim your aircraft to on speed AOA when you're on downwind. You should be able to fly straight and level and on speed without any stick movements before turning final. Hope some of these might help. Good luck.
  17. Thanks, I'll try that. Yeah, at first I did all my landings with the hook up because it's much quicker and my previous grades looked like that anyway: ;) UPDATE: That was it! After advancing the the throttle to MIL just before touchdown I'm now getting proper grades. Cheers! :drink: vid: I've also attached a track if anyone's intrested. Hornet carrier practice 22 05 20_2.trk
  18. I've been practice carrier landings since the release and no matter what I do I can't get a good grade. Perhaps you could take a look and tell me what I'm doing wrong. Here's the video: Link: And here's the track file: https://we.tl/t-DK7YoeKO1H (sorry, it's 10MB so couldn't attach it to the post) PS. I was just practicing line-up and landings, so I skipped the rest. Cheers
  19. Just a small update. I've bought a 1080Ti and it's quite good. I can bump up the graphics a bit and still keep the game running at 40 FPS. Plus setting pixel density to something higher than 1.0 really helps with the clarity. It's still struggling a bit on a busy MP server. I've tested it on Hoggit yesterday (20-30ish ppl) and sometimes, especially around the airport, the framerate drops to around 20. But I still need to play around with optimized shaders and I haven't touched the CPU yet, so overall I'm quite happy. Cheers!
  20. Sorry, a typo :music_whistling: It's an i5-9600K Anyway, thanks guys, looks like I'll be upgrading my GPU soon.
  21. I need some help with upgrading my rig. Basically it's a typical question whether I should get a new CPU or GPU. My current specs are: i5-6900K 3.7GHz 500GB SSD GTX 980Ti 32GB RAM DDR4 Rift S For most of the time the game runs fine (40FPS, which is max for Rift S), especially on an empty map. However as soon as there's more stuff going on (like an autogen mission or a busy server) it drops to about 20. So, my first guess would be to get a new CPU. However. Neither the GPU nor any of the cores reach 100% and when I increase the view distance the FPS also drops (which I think would suggest a lacking GPU. Besides 980tI seems a bit too weak for VR, so I'm at a loss My budget is 500-600$ tops. I'd appreciate any suggestions.
  22. Seems like the flight sim market has caught up with the rest of the gaming industry. We now have a first ever module to come out with day 1 DLC... Sorry guys, couldn't help myself :smilewink:
  23. I'd start by posting a picture of your radar screen.
  24. Oh, so that's why I boltered every time I tried to land on the ball. It all makes sense now. Just look how much do you need to pull up to remain on speed :
