none of the enemy boats ever spawned for me, flew around for 10 minutes and quit. you're equipped with a training maverick because you were diverted from a training exercise
-
would be nice if they'd update the CDU as well. i recall reading that one of the blank buttons is for markpoint deletion
-
hopefully it's an oversight. as a workaround you can reset the TGP by switching it to STBY mode
-
as shown in wags' video, the apkws has a unique profile in the DSMS separate from regular hydras. all the necessary info is present for the optimal launch zone to be calculated, yet it isn't for some reason
-
hmm interesting, looks like it does rely on kinetic energy for penetration. is dcs even capable of modeling this? laser would be activated
-
yes it's strange that there's no range indicator like for the maverick missile. however the rockets have a HEAT warhead so impact velocity doesn't affect penetration
-
will be interesting to test this out once the module releases. load laser rockets then manually designate them as regular hydras through the dsms. if everything is simulated correctly they should still work
-
it's probably a bug, although it would be nice to have the ability to delete nav points
-
apparently so. i simply bound the MFD button for markpoint in place of the recce button since it's fairly useless anyways

this site has documentation on the superhornet's ground radar that is applicable to our game as well: https://forums.vrsimulations.com/support/index.php/A/G_Radar#Tracking_Modes_.28FTT.2FGMTT.29 basically you create a target point in the the map or EXP modes, then do a sensor switch bump to track that point (same way you cycle through TGP tracking modes). the symbology will then switch and display the tracked target as a brick from playing around with it, it appears that the radar will "track" the exact point underneath the crosshair and not snap to proximity objects. i'm guessing it's still WIP, so not very useful right now
-
any time you designate a target point, all sensors automatically slave to it. there is no manual slave function like there is in some other planes you can designate a target point with the AGR in EXP modes by simultaneously depressing and slewing the TDC, at which point you'll see a crosshair appear on the display
-
yes, previously the maverick would follow the target point as the TGP was slewed. now it must be caged/uncaged to update its position to the new point after shifting the TGP. and the maverick still overrides hotas inputs to the TGP even when not SOI

[UNABLE TO REPRODUCE, MISSING TRACK] ACM and Vertical Scan
naizarak replied to ...'s topic in DCS: F/A-18C
still broken. vertical scan is offset to the side after switching from rws/tws and can't see targets directly in front. i don't think the auto acquisition modes have ever worked properly EDIT: wacg is also broken, except it's offset vertically from the centerline -
yeah like you said, dcs is designed as a simulator, not a game. devs model weapon systems to match real life parameters and they leave the balancing to mission makers. unfortunately most MP servers aim for airquake-style gameplay that doesn't handle asymmetrical balancing well

in theory yes, in reality an experienced tomcat player would never place themselves in that situation. they would either continue pressing their advantage and use their superior energy state to run you down, or simply rtb winchester. at best you're fighting for a draw the videos demonstrate how to dodge single phoenixes fired at long-rage (i.e. pot shots), which isn't difficult. the trick is in closing the gap and being able to fire your own missiles in kind to make things even more challenging, the f-14 will routinely eat multiple amraams before being knocked out for good
-
in the current state of the game, competent f14 pilots are virtually unbeatable because they can launch on you from 20 miles, turn cold & run away while the magic phoenix INS hunts you down. your only chance is if they make a mistake, such as chasing you into mountainous terrain however heatblur is in the process of updating the phoenix's guidance logic, so everything is subject to change
-
the auto-acquisition modes have never worked properly
-
at minimum you should have most of the radar MFD buttons mapped, including range increase/decrease, azimuth, bar pattern, mode, auto/man, reset, and silent. you should also have the bottom MFD buttons for scale and step mapped in SA mode. aside from those essentials, i like having waypoint increment/decrement and wpdsg mapped

mav + tgp is completely broken, i wouldn't even bother with it 1. having the maverick selected will block the FOV hotas command from the TGP, even if TGP is SOI 2. the maverick will "snag" on random objects such as buildings or trees when uncaging and slaving to the target 3. slewing the TGP while designating will cause the maverick to drift infinitely on that vector 4. not a bug, but it's impossible to slew the maverick when slaved to a target. you must undesignate the target which will also reset the TGP, another massive usability hindrance
-
radar on the right, EW on the left, SA on the bottom. the info feed from all three combined is tremendous
-
ccrp bombing has always been broken
-
reading through the manual i got the impression it would be simpler than the hornet, but in practice the controls/workflow are much worse for example, why are there 5 master modes of which 3 are air-to-air? why are some modes controlled through IFC buttons while others are on the hotas as a slider? hornet has this figured out and is much easier. another example: why is the sidewinder's search mode (bore vs slaved) manually controlled? in the hornet the sidewinder automatically slaves when the radar has locked a target. otherwise it switches to "boresight" by default and will follow your helmet. only thing you have to worry about is caging radar however is more straightforward in the f16, and actually appears to work correctly.
-
the problem is ED considers DCS to be a simulator when it's actually a videogame. would make things a lot easier for everyone if they were more pragmatic about it

Comms no longer work in F-18 or F-16. I'm at a loss.
naizarak replied to oldmanflan's topic in General Bugs
the server you're playing on probably has easy comms disabled
