  1. Especially the afterburner mod by HungaroJET, damn that looks really good!
  2. Thanks guys, just gave it a try and it looks much better than before. I've got everything except Bartheks mountains, I can't find those anywhere.
  3. Looking very nice, good job and thanks to everyone involved in making this. Can't wait to try this out when I get home later. Im confused about something though; what is the difference between the only terrain texture and the only grass texture? Should they be used together or separately?
  4. Im very surprised nobody has modded the ka50 HMCS for other aircraft yet. Anybody know why?
  5. This would yield the best outcome.
  6. Ofcourse, I just meant that some experienced modders would be able to add things, such as airports, to existing maps with the SDK, or does the SDK only allow for new maps to be made?
  7. Found the thread: http://forums.eagle.ru/showthread.php?t=125452 I was wrong seems like it's the other way around.
  8. Once we get multi-crew capability we need an AC-130. Could you imagine how sweet that would be.
  9. I don't know anything about modding but I thought the SDK was supposed to allow this sort of thing, wasn't it?
  10. You used to be able to but im pretty sure that changed and you can no longer use steam keys with ED.
  11. Same here. Once you get the hang of it, it doesn't take very long at all.
  12. +1 Very interested in seeing how this is coming along.
  13. Im also having trouble with fps. I tried multiple missions in the campaign (by restarting) and they all yield the same fps problems. The missions start out fine but 2-5 minutes into the mission (while still starting up the aircraft) the fps will drop to 2-3 fps. I tried some other campaigns and missions (including a quick multiplayer session) to make sure that it wasn't on my end but they all ran fine. I don't usually have bad fps since I have a decently powered system. Nevertheless, I think the idea for the campaign is awesome and would really like to give it a go once I can run it properly. I'm available to help test if needed.
  14. Fantastic, always nice to see new campaigns. Looking forward to trying this out. Thanks for the upload.
  15. It still hasn't evolved far enough. Until we can get a 1:1 representation of the real world in game there will always be the need for techniques like smart scaling. Technology can't match real life contrast, resolution, number of colours, etc... not to mention that the real world is 3D and not a 2D picture on a computer monitor (depth perception). It may not be 1999 anymore but we still have a long way to go and as much as I love DCS, it is still far from a true to life flight simulation.
  16. Many people have brought this up. Missiles, especially the 120, behave very strangely. The 120 is not nearly as effective as its real world counterpart. I'm really hoping ED will fix this issue with missiles. Its one of the most important aspects of any combat flight sim.
  17. It wont matter what resolution/screen size you have, none of it will match the effectiveness of the human eye. Real world spotting is easier and more natural because of a million different factors, a few of them being the resolution of the human eye, depth perception, trillions of colours, etc... DCS needs some sort of spotting technique (e.g. smart scaling, light reflections, better colour contrast, etc...)
  18. Real world, if you're close enough for guns, you should be well within range to identify. In game it's much more difficult due to many variables (screen resolution vs. human eye resolution, limited contrast/colours, glare, etc..) There's a discussion going on here about how to make DCS more realistic with regards to spotting/identifying. Feel free to vote and/or throw your opinion in. http://forums.eagle.ru/showthread.php?t=101143
  19. oops, my bad. Now that you mention it, I realise this also. maybe a clever modder can do something about it.
  20. You can force the TAD map to stay the same by clicking OSB20 (the top left corner of the TAD page). You can cycle between AUTO, MAN, and OFF. AUTO will change the map as you zoom in and out. MAN will keep whichever map type that was selected when you changed to MAN. OFF will turn the map off and give you a black backdrop.
  21. Im pretty sure in dogfight mode your lock is an STT lock which makes the other pilots RWR go crazy letting them know they're being locked up.
  22. OK lets all kiss and make up now. We all want DCS to be the best sim experience possible. We can all agree that yes in some conditions it is difficult to spot anything, especially an aircraft, and DCS should reflect this in the sim. That being said, we can also all agree that there needs to be some improvement on spotting in DCS. More contrast, light reflections, small amounts of smart scaling, etc... Whatever technique ED decides to go with we can all agree there needs to be something done.
  23. I voted yes but I would still like to see collision with trees and AI that doesn't shoot through them before a Vietnam map is made. Limited visibility was one of the main aspects of the Vietnam war.
  24. I found a used X52 in town where I live for $80. It's a huge improvement over the 3D Pro and was definitely worth the investment. The throttle is a million times more precise and so is the whole joystick all together. Also, one of my favorite things is the mode dial that lets you basically program 3 uses for every button. If you have the money to buy it full price I would say it's worth it but if you can wait I can almost guarantee you'll find a good used X52 on the internet for a really good price.
  25. That's right, as far as I understand it, the SPI follows your targeting pod. So as long as your broadcasting SPI then every couple seconds it will update your SPI to others in your flight. But you can't mark and send multiple SPI points, I think.
