Wanted : F-15A, F-16 MLU, F-16 BLK40,BLK32
FlankerKiller replied to lee1hy's topic in DCS Core Wish List
A small tail F-16A would be just awesome. It would fit well with the slew of late cold War assets that are inbound, with the disadvantage of having to survive the forward quarter weapons. But if it gets close to anything other than a Mig-29A it's over. F-16C Bolck 40 would be super cool. Low altitude penitrateion at night! Late 80's through mid late 90's technology. Combined with the Block 52 we currently have you would have a pretty good representation of the Vipers career. At least until it becomes to classified to model. I for one would definitely pay on day one for the expansion of the Viper lineup. And you could offer the whole pack as one modules to new players. It would be epic ED. I would like to see one of the export models that carried Sparrows. I personally love FOX One fights. SU-27 is not gonna happen. Maybe a Mig-29G. But these jets mostly fed on Mig-21s and 23, sometimes 29s. And of corse the occasional nuclear power plant. The best analog to the A model that wr currently have is the Mirage 2000. Going toe to toe with that would be interesting. -

Limitations, and unique handling makes for a great sim experience. -
Knight Witches need I say more? Well I will. As well as its use for Harassing attacks in WWII it was used as a scout aircraft. It was produced and used long after WWII. It was the last aircraft to attack U.S. forces, which it did successfully. It fits in well with the I-16 and the Lagg-5. It's an interesting aircraft that again would add a new element to DCS WWII and would not be too difficult to produce.

Before you poo poo this idea pleas hear me out. The L-4 was an extremely important asset in WWII, it's ability to call in accurate artillery made it one of the most dangerous aircraft to ground troops. Also they were often modified to carry armaments so they could provide direct support. .30 cal machine guns, and bazookas were fitted and used. A notable example was Rosie the Rocker. With an armament of six bazookas it was able to knock out several armored vehicles in one battle. Their quite engine, fabric covered tubular framed fuselage made them hard to bring down with small arms unless you hit the engine or pilot. Their slow speed and ability to pop-up from behind trees made them lethal in close air support. If a script could be built into the module to call in avaliable artillery fire they would be an absolutely devastating modules against ground targets. It's easy mony for you guys, there are several examples of L-4's still flying and the modified ones are well documented. It would bring a new element to WWII as well as offering a training and to get used to flying tail draggers.

I think we should press them. I've been around F-15's my whole adult life. I've definitely seen the E model fly without the CFTs. I have no idea if it can support weapons on the fuselage, but they definitely can come off, and it can definitely fly without them. I kinda understand Razbam's reasons but it isn't a fantasy loadout. They can and do fly with the CFTs off. Even if only for functional test flights, it still happens regularly. We simulate wars of an intensity that wasn't seen for sixty years in DCS. It's hard to say what would and wouldn't be done.

Coming DCS F-5E Update Wishlist Thread
FlankerKiller replied to _BringTheReign_'s topic in Wish List
So yeah, an in flight refueling probe. You could. Make it an option like the Jeff. Honestly I think Bellsimteck had the right idea with the saber. After a certain point bend the jet. The more bent the more you have to correct it. Heatblur also had the right idea make over G damage cumulative. If there was an API to combine the two it would be an awesome improvement to DCS. The F-5 would be the perfect test bed for something like that. -
Maybe it's because I've got like 1000hr is ED's F-15C. But I took the thing off with no issues, did some acrobatics, a tail slide, and RTB into probably the best overhead break I've ever performed. But again from 2015 till about 2019 just about all I flew was the F-15 with the PFM. This jet flies so similar it just felt like an old glove. I wasn't going to buy it, but the F-15, all variants, is my all time favorite aircraft. I was stationed at Robins where the Depot is. It never got old seeing the post depot flight checks. Also I'm not trying to down anyone's skills. It took me years to be able to land the C model without damaging it.

You must be vary new here. The Ai is in a different world then it was just a year ago. The GFM is just going to make the Ai performance more realistic.

Coming DCS F-5E Update Wishlist Thread
FlankerKiller replied to _BringTheReign_'s topic in Wish List
I think the Schoshi Tigers flew basic F-5As. It was basically a marketing ploy. Even though there were those that wanted adoption to help fight the NVA's migs, and the ARMY wanted it for CAS work. The F-5TH would be an amazing asset in DCS. You could do some exciting missions with that one. -
Please, we don't have an American trainer, and the T-38 is legendary.

Coming DCS F-5E Update Wishlist Thread
FlankerKiller replied to _BringTheReign_'s topic in Wish List
Doing an F-5 expansion pack would be easy mony for ED. Maybe and F-5A like the ones flown in Vietnam. Just a light weight knife fighter, and a later export version with the updates you mentioned. Something to give it a little more teeth. -
later with dtc Can we please edit our countermeasures profile?
FlankerKiller replied to FlankerKiller's topic in Wish List
I don't know if I would call the Jeff easy. But yeah it would be nice to have something like that. -
Is that going to release all at once, or is it a series of small tweaks over time. I cannot wait to give the new FM a try.
-
I don't think realistic modeling if IR countermeasures is possible in DCS. One its classified, two your prossers would melt. I haven't had any issues with the flares in the Hornet. They work fine against ground based IR missiles as well as forward and high aspect air to air shots. Depending on what missile your trying to defeat flares might not be much use. Especially from a rear aspect shot.

Like the above. We can edit the text file, but it breaks IC and has the be updated after every update. It's vary annoying to have to set up before every mission. -
Engine flameout when parked with tail wind
FlankerKiller replied to Proper Charlie's topic in Bugs and Problems
No, a wind gust can cause a compressor stall at any time. What's really dangerous is a sideways wind. It can starve the engine of air and let all that combustion come forward. It'll wake your ass up when you've been running ground for like two hours. Newer engines have better ways to deal with it so don't stall as much. But older engines need constant smooth air down the intake. -
I know I'm always asking for Ai improvements. Last you you guys delivered bug time on the air to air AI, and I'm loving it. But four skill levels seems a bit limiting. Especially when two of them are basically cannon foder. Could we maybe get five or six skill levels. Maybe rookie, trained, veteran, instructor, expert, ace. Expert should do tough to beat. Ace should be vary vary tough to beat. I know there are limits. It would be nice to have a wider range of skill to choose frome for Ai allies and opponents.

Their working on it. I agree it needs to happen across-the-board. But it's going to be an undertaking.

Engine flameout when parked with tail wind

It's a real behavior of jet engines. In the AF when we are going to ground run sometimes we have to tow them to point them into the wind. -
Those cannons would awesome.

80's early 90's French ground attack aircraft.
FlankerKiller replied to FlankerKiller's topic in DCS Core Wish List
Any of them would be great. Of the two I would have to go with a mid 80's Jaguar. It seems like it would fit right in with the later F1, and the early days of the M2000. Looking at it, it dosen't seem like it would be to hard to model. It's a fixed wing single seat attack aircraft. Seems to mosty use laser guided and dumb bombs. The AS 37 looks like an interesting weapon. Seems like a perfect fit with the F1, M2000, Gazelle we already have. I know the F1 we have is Spanish, but you really don't have to sqint too hard for it to be French. Having a whole French, ish, airforce from the Cold War era wold be really sweet. I really hope someone looks at this thing. There are a good bit of late cold War aircraft coming down the pipeline. It would be nice to have options that aren't American or Russian. -
WWII is not quite the same thing as flying into over lapping SA-10 supported by SU-27, or whatever, and AWACS. Also I don't think you can really call the F-15E, A-6E, F-111 fake bombers. History certainly dose not. WWII bombers would alow you to jump into a gunner seat and try to defend the bomber. I even suspect with a proper pilot AI most people would take off, then just let the Ai fly it. Especially once you are in contested air space. Preferring to operate the bomb sight or a gunner station. Those bombers did penitrate enemy airspace and did tangle with fighters, and did have means to protect themselves in a way that would be vary enjoyable for the player. In a real near pear fight in 2005ish the strategic bomber role would have been to launch waves of ALCMs from a safe distance. Non stelth penitration missions into defended airspace hasn't really been a thing in a long time. Even the stelth bombers are not likely to survive actually flying deep into well defended airspace. I'm not saying no one would buy it. But I wouldn't. Like I said there are civilian simmers that would maybe love it. But how many of them are there, and how many would come over to a combat simulator. And other then ridiculous amounts of endurance and bomb load what does it bring to DCS that isn't already covered by something we already have. Also is there even enough information to consider it. And again is there enough players that would buy it to be worth the massive amount of work it would take to create. It's a wish list, wish away. But I highly suspect that this is something most of us would fly once or twice, and be done with it.

We are getting the F-15E. That is a "light" bomber with vary complex systems. It did replace the F-111 after all. The main issue I see with heavy bombers is the game play. Now I know there are civilian flight sim enthusiasts who simulate flights across the Pacific for fun. But in a modern contested conflict a Buff mission would consist of taking off. Flying through uncontested air space. Then launching a volley of cruise missiles and flying home. Yes they were used for close air support in GWOT. But again that was completely uncontested air space. And there is another issue. They are not going to be flying into any form of contested airspace. Ether a massive escort and SEAD package is going in with them to brute force the way clear. And if that fails all the bombers can do is abort or die. There just isn't really much to be offered by simulating the heavies. Lots of hours of basically commercial flying, release weapons at pre planned targets from a safe distance, return to base. Even low altitude penitration strikes with the Bone aren't really a thing in contested airspace. Even a single AWACS will see them, and ones they are intercepted it's all over. All of the above is basically the reasoning behind the F-15E. It can carry alot of bombs a good distance. And if it has to it can defend itself if intercepted. Especially once the AMRAAM was in service.
