Hi. I have started this campaign and enjoying so far, but I had a little issue with mission 3. Seeing that 1.5.7 sling is broken, I downgraded to 1.5.6 before starting. To the point: those two UH-60 are such a PITA! They joined me overtaking from below below, nearly crashing into me. Actually one of them went down when I arrived close to the drop zone (didn't see it but confirmed with the log) and the other one kept harassing me (as a revenge I guess ) to the point of cutting the rope flying below me when I was trying to deliver the cargo. It ended on top of the "control tower", and I still don't understand how it was successfully delivered. :music_whistling::megalol: That stubborn mo#@%$ kept following me onto the firing range and then reappeared flying around me when I was trying to land on the Argo!!! I was so tempted to shot it down... :joystick:

That was 1991, soooo... are we getting a crappy handheld GPS receiver in the F-14? :music_whistling::lol: Source: "Debrief: a complete history of the U.S. aerial engagements 1981 to the present", by Craig Brown. Story by Lt. (then) Stuart "Meat" Broce (USN).

The DM/DG modes are bugged. When they lose lock, the radar should return to ACQ phase, but instead it displays Search phase while actually staying in dogfight mode. I already reported it, but looks like it was just ignored: https://forums.eagle.ru/showthread.php?t=186772

Considering getting Argo: how difficult is it?
escaner replied to escaner's topic in UH-1H Argo Campaign
Thanks Simicro for your feedback. I had already read the review from Helisimmer, but not the other one (actually the unrealistic payloads was the other point refraining me a bit from the purchase). Seeing that those very hard missions are limited and with the bonus points sale I just got it. Even if I can only do 10 of the missions I guess it will be a good deal. :) -
I had quite a good time with the stock UN campaign some time ago and Argo seems like the logical follow on... but from my readings I fear it might be too challenging/difficult? Could you guys comment on that? Thanks!

UV filters do not block visible light, they block invisible ultraviolet light. Actually glass is in itself already filters most UV light. I guess that the treatment that you guys are referring to is an anti-reflective coating, which helps reducing reflections and glare, and thus improving light transmission and contrast. It normally gives the crystal some green, pinky or blueish hue, visible in the reflections (yes, there are still reflections). But that will not allow you to look into the Sun either. For that, normally pilots use glare shields, caps, sunglasses and helmets with tinted visors, depending on the aircraft. About that white strip in the sky near the horizon, I consider it an ED's bug, because it does not exist in the real world, and that is what should be fixed. Maybe they try to emulate haze, but that would only be there with atmospheric stability when you are at low altitude and anyway it is nothing like that.

There are no "new" and "old" modules regarding spending bonus points. Either it is on sale or not, that is what matters. Before the product is (pre-)released, you can pre-purchase it on a 20% discount sale, so you cannot spend points. The moment it is (pre-)released in alpha status, the discount finishes, it goes to full price and you can spend bonus points (up to 30% of its price IIRC). As I said, Normandy + WW2 Assets is a pack, which is considered a sale, that is why you cannot spend the points.
-
Being a pack, it is treated as a discount sale, that is why you are not able to use bonus points... another of the drawbacks of having two modules for what should have been just one. If you have many bonus available, maybe wait for one of those events where you can spend 50% bonus and purchase them as separate modules.

I am not being "ridiculous". You can argue all you want, I will not do it because the 1 vs 1 air combat tactics are already there, studied, demonstrated, accepted, taught and applied everyday by air forces. If you are interested on what the humankind has come up regarding this matter, you would be good to read about Boyd, Energy-Maneuverability Theory or get a tactics book like this: https://www.amazon.com/Fighter-Combat-Maneuvering-Robert-Shaw/dp/0870210599

You just ruined 100 years of fighter evolution and tactics. :music_whistling:

Out of curiosity, the A-10 has two air to air confirmed kills, both with the GAU-8: Bo 105 and Mi-8

That is good news! I have just taken a quick look at the current manual, and this is what I noticed. One of the things I most miss is in the systems description and diagrams visually explaining them: Fuel system -> adding a diagram would be great Electrical system -> this one has an incomplete diagram: if we do not know what devices are connected to each bus, it is useless Hydraulic system -> adding a diagram would be great Pressurization & life support -> system completely missing from the manual FBW & flight controls -> A more detailed description of the FBW system, describing its different computers and diagram with the control surfaces they are responsible for would be great. Another section that I miss is emergency procedures. It would be nice to have at least the most common ones. I remember that e.g. countermeasure programs were implemented after the last update of the manual (and some other things) so it is obviously not there. And finally, it would be great to have links from the table of contents to the page so you can go there just by clicking on it.

Did they recently update the training missions? I have tried to do them for 3 times already and in the end always left the module aside because what they explained didn't match the actual implementation of the aircraft (e.g. A/G gun) or they were describing features not implemented yet (e.g. INS position update, precision bombing) or it was just buggy (e.g. CCIP).

Thrustmaster Warthog T.A.R.G.E.T. - I'm lost :(
escaner replied to LuSi_6's topic in PC Hardware and Related Software
TG2 includes TG1. If you want to stop TG1 event, at TG2 press add a key up for TG1 gun, and at TG2 release add a key down for TG1 gun. Sent from my MI PAD 2 using Tapatalk -
I hope that damage between missions, if added, is optional, because it is not realistic. Such an aircraft would not be airworthy and would not be released for flight until the corresponding maintenance check is done.

Setting realistic expectations for the Hornet
escaner replied to neofightr's topic in Military and Aviation
Probably keep launching more missiles, as Pitts and Tollini did with that MiG-25 (2 AIM-7 and 3 AIM-9 for one kill) or Watrous on a MiG-23 (all 4 AIM-7), both in ODS. One thing is thinking that the technology is not working and fear that they would need to use the gun, and another actually doing it. -
Introducing the VPC Stealth Rudders
escaner replied to Cyph3r's topic in PC Hardware and Related Software
You are right, it works as in that video you posted, also with axes. TBH I didn't notice because when turning with pedal brakes you first apply rudder and then differential braking to tighten the turn, which in the end has the same effect with both braking methods (plus having got BoS just two weeks ago I had not noticed this side effect yet). -

Of course you can use them. Just map "Wheel brakes" to one or both pedal brakes. Having brakes in the pedals is very handy, as they free your hands to do other stuff: e.g. tuning radios, copying departure clearance, organizing your desktop, or looking for the pen that just fell to the floor to name a few. That is why it currently is the most commonly used system in airplanes. -
Thrustmaster Warthog T.A.R.G.E.T. - I'm lost :(

Reflected, I don't find that method versatile in TARGET at all. That way you forfeit the ability to have more complex macros, e.g. doing several actions with just one press, or mapping axes to keys in some aircraft while leaving the axis for the others. Also, I am not 100% sure that you could map e.g. the speedbrakes for the A-10C, F-5 and F-15 successfully; and if you do it would involve a dirty triple mapping solution. -

No brakes? :( -
If you are looking for a TARGET profile, here is mine. I find Joystick configuration very personal and that is why I always make my own profiles. You need to map the definitions in the second page of the PDF for it to work, and of course the axes in DCS. Modify the profile to your own liking. Note that italics design secondary functions using the paddle as shift. I also made a couple of oh-shit macros for those times when you don't know why your air-to-air or air-to-ground weapons are not releasing. Edit: note that my TrackIR bindings are not standard so they will not work out of the box. dcs-f5e-warthog.zip

There was the same issue in the A-10C and it was fixed in this week's patch: it is obviously a bug. It is very annoying at dusk/night.

In DCS 1.5.7.7741.317 open beta, the HUD is now dark instead of clear as before. See attached images to compare current HUD to how it was before. Now: Before:
