  1. To change the radar range you just need to slew the cursor bars beyond maximum or minimum range. It can also be mapped to an axis. There is no master arm and no clickable cockpit in FC3 planes.
  2. Hi AOA is nice to have available when you are stuck in pure of lag pursuit to pull your nose ahead of the target for a shot. Usually it also allows you to fly very slow, which is also useful in a scissors or rolling scissors manoeuvre. OTOH, high AOA = lots of drag, so you can lose a lot of energy when played wrong. As GGTharos said, this is BFM. When your target goes vertical, of course you should follow him. If you can't it probably is because he has more energy than you, so you better end the fight quick on the way up or he will be in your 6 on the way down. If you don't (or cannot) follow, you are giving away to him all that turning room. He will be able to come down on you easily. When you don't have the energy to follow him, you can unload your aircraft (level wings, 1G), accelerate and follow him when you can. But the longer you wait, the more turning room you are giving to him. You say that you are pretty low, so you could also accelerate going down and seek for cover in the terrain to deny him a shot. Remember that the Su-27 has a big advantage in close combat: use your helmet/AA-11 off boresight capability.
  3. Here there is also a nice recopilation of basic information regarding Russian defense systems, check document 1. http://www.digitalcombatsimulator.com/en/files/86362/
  4. IR SAMs and AAA by themselves are easy. Just stay above their ceiling of engagement. That is, about 11,000-12,000 ft above them. It will be hard to find a Shilka with Fantasmagoria because they will only activate their radar at close range. But you can locate it in your RWR.
  5. Are they placed atop mountains? Obviously that extends their ceiling
  6. You can drop the Mk.82 AIR like a standard low drag Mk.82 by selecting Nose fuse only and configuring it as low drag in the inventory page of DSMS. TBH I haven't really tried any other thing regarding fusing, mostly bombs hit nose first...
  7. Yep, the Su-25T is currently the only true SEAD aircraft available.
  8. This happened to me when I enabled "Easy communications" in the options menu. Unchecking it solved the problem.
  9. Maths are universal language, they say... 1 NM = 1852 m 1 h = 3600 s 1 NM/h = 1 KT 1 m/s = 1 m/s * (1/1852 NM/m) * (3600 s/h) = 3600/1852 NM/h = 1.94 NM/h = 1.94 KT ~ 2 KT
  10. There is a bug with the navigation pointer in the HUD. When it is not in the part of the bearing tape displayed and it shows stuck to either side, do not trust it. Perhaps the WP is 90º to the right and it is indicating left. Look down on the HSI and turn the shortest side accordingly. You can follow the HUD navigation mark when it enters in the HUD field of view. I guess that might be spoiling your navigation. Edit: Actually it might happen turning from WP8 (EAST) to WP9 (Final). It is a 70º right turn and proabably the HUD was indicating left, so you did a 290º turn to the left.
  11. Someone trying to hack my account A few days ago I received this email: Looks like someone was trying to hack my account from China. Maybe it would be wise to ban that address from the server.
  12. I also map W to the pedal toebrakes, but you don't have differential braking (not sure whether the acual plane has it) and you only get that "on" or "off" unrealistic braking.
  13. You are right
  14. Every guided weapon has a sensor, you cannot guide them arbitrarily with a laser. AGM-65D/G look for IR signatures, while H/K variants look for shapes in visual spectrum. They are not designed to look for tiny laser reflections like the AGM-65E, which as already said cannot be used in the game. OTOH, what you are looking for is the Force Correlate mode. This mode allows the Maverick to lock onto arbitrary shapes. It cannot be used with D variant, but in the G/H/K, when you select the Mav and slave it to your target (SPI), use Boat switch Center (if already in center, move Fwd or Aft and back to center), and then TMS Fwd short to lock (or the slew method if you prefer). The targeting cross will fully collapse instead of leaving an opening at the center, and the seeker position will blink as usual when the lock is achieved. This mode will lock very far away, so be sure to be within range before firing. Also, if shooting vehicles, think that it may lock on the background instead of the vehicle itself and it won't track them if they move, so the miss ratio is higher. There are lots of tutorials about Force Correlate on Youtube with different methods to use it, I recommend to watch a few of them to get the hang of it.
  15. Altitude is ignored. You need to pass pretty close to the wp for it to automatically change. Do it manually when it does not
  16. Actually in the Saitek profiler you can define any button as modifier. But pinky is the only one that has the ergonomy to be pressed at the same time than any other control. What I don't really find that useful is the Mode 3-state. In some simulators I tried to use it as NAV, AA and AG modes, but I kept forgetting to swap, so I left the experiment pretty quickly. In the A-10C, I have the boat switch mapped there, which is also a three state switch. Much more useful like that. The Saitek profiler also has good things, like the possibility of defining zones in the axes to do different things. In the case of the ministick, DCS didn't recognize it as axes to be mapped as the slew hat, so I had to do just that. In my experience, with all these years using this HOTAS, I have found it to be pretty powerful and always managed to do what I intended.
  17. Load the profile into the editor, right click in the Pinkie Switch square and uncheck the "latched" option. I guess that must be the problem. Save and reload the profile.
  18. Same file, bit per bit.
  19. The heading navigation indicator in the HUD is bugged. When out of the visible scale, it can point randomly either side, not indicating the shortest turn. Actually usually points the wrong way. In that case, better use the HSI for navigation. You can rely on the HUD navigation pointer when it is inside the visible scale.
  20. SPOLER ALERT - Bear Trap Campaign, first mission. I have been checking the mission in the editor. The first mission is just navigation. You need to overfly 9 areas, getting a message in each of them. When you overfly all of them, you should get the mission success. No need even to land. Here, a screenshot of your flight plan and the circles determining the 9 areas to overfly.
  21. Is there any way to set laser to latch mode as default in game configuration files? Thank you!
  22. Probably each person has his best, that is why I always make my own. But you can start with one profile, try it, and modify to your likings. E.g. if you normally use trim or flaps in some place for other planes, you better leave it there for the A-10C too or think of modifying all the profiles to match. Building your perfect profile has a lot of trial and modification involved.
  23. IIRC, there were 10 activations and it could be reset once per month. So unlimited.
  24. I understood you Sciatis, just wanted to explain a bit to the OP why that happens. :)
  25. It is quite simple: if you are travelling faster than sound, it will never reach you. Try F3 fly by mode and after you plane has passed by your side, you will hear the sonic boom and then its noise. In the following picture you can see how the sonic waves travel in regards to an aircraft at subsonic, sonic and supersonic speeds:
