The Enemy Within SP Campaign FULL for A10C
escaner replied to baltic_dragon's topic in User Created Missions General
I have started this campaign recently and am really enjoying the way things happen and how missions change, and also the mountains scenery is pretty cool. Thank you Baltic Dragon for your dedication, good work. :) OTOH, I am having a couple of issues: * In mission 5 - Operation Hammerfall 2, the L-39 recon aircraft gets downed pretty soon by a MANPAD (I think their ceiling and range was increased recently), but I guess it should play some role during the mission. Am I right? Is this a bug? * In mission 6 - Operation Hammerfall 3, the cloud ceiling is at 8,000-8,500 ft, but looking for some tips about this mission saw Ralfi's video where it seemed to be at 12,000 ft or higher. Was this a later intended change? Thank's a lot! -
Lower flaps, increase airspeed (both reduce AOA) or perform a steeper approach. Yes, that is what I already said in the first page. Not flying it that much lately and already forgetting the numbers.
-
Also, I have had problems with this when "easy communications" setting is on. Try to disable it. Good to know :)

The F-15 does not have a short landing run. Instead of chute, they do aerobraking. On touchdown, keep your nose 10-12° up until down to 80-90 knots, then lower your nose and apply wheel brakes. That would be the real life procedure

Start APU and stop engines before rearming

Yes, you put 30.16 in the little window in the altimeter, and as you are on the ground, the altimeter should read 0 ft. QFE on takeoff is just a check, you can already figure it out turning the altimeter knob until it reads 0 ft: the pressure displayed in the window is the QFE. It is more useful for landing. Pretty similar with QNH. Already told you: from the airport charts. You have them in this file and also in the kneeboard. Or you can download DCS manager for Android, but those charts are a bit outdated: C:\Program Files\Eagle Dynamics\DCS World\Doc\Charts\DCS_GND_Charts.pdf
-
Watch the speling ;) QNH - pressure at an airport or place at sea level QFE - pressure at an airport or place on its surface (that is, at its elevation) They are part of the Q code but used in aviaton. Those letters actually mean nothing, it is not initials or something like that. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Q_code The airport elevation and header elevations are in the airport charts. Look into DCS directories for a PDF with that info or in the kneeboard.

1.2.16 Open Beta & Stable Branch Discussion
escaner replied to cichlidfan's topic in DCS World 1.x (read only)
You should get detonations (and high temperature) by leaning the mixture too much, I guess. -
I have found that CCIP on a good dive is quite precise for delivering Mk.82. A tank will need a direct or very close hit, but it can be destroyed when static. It is also very useful for unguided cluster bombs on moving vehicles, but you will need to drop them ahead of the targets, of course.
-
Pave Penny is just a laser finder. Initially, the A-10A didn't have a laser designator, but they could drop LGBs onto targets designated by other aircraft or personnel. This device allowed the pilots to find those illuminated targets. AFAIK, its functionality was ditched in the A-10C (obviously, now using external pods). It had nothing to do with the gun.
-
In the A-10C, actually AI turns on strobe lights for taxi and adds nav lights for takeoff as you said, which should be the other way around... But at night both are used for taxi.

Systematically yanking the throttles forward to max thrust because you are in enemy territory is unrealistic. Increased engine wear (which I think is not modelled in the sim), missing your planned times on route, and high fuel consumption (which drastically shortens your time on target) are a few of its drawbacks. BTW, has anyone noticed an increase of ceiling and range of IR SAMs?

Regarding the default countermeasure programs: Last column meaning: C: number of chaff per release F: number of flares per release I: interval between releases (in seconds) C: count of releases Program Name C/F/I/C A Old gen radar SAM 2/0/1.0/10 B Cur gen radar SAM 4/0/0.5/10 C IR SAM 0/4/0.2/5 D Mix 1 2/2/1.0/10 E Mix 2 2/2/0.5/10 F Mix 3 4/4/1.0/10 G Mix 4 4/4/0.5/10 H Chaff single 1/0/1.0/1 I Chaff pairs 2/0/1.0/1 J Flare single 0/1/1.0/1 K Flare pairs 0/2/1.0/1 L Chaff pre-empt 1/0/1.0/20 M Flare pre-empt 0/1/1.0/20 Personally I have configured my own programs in V through Z (flare pre-empt, IR missile, mix, radar missile & chaff pre-empt), those are the ones I use and much easier to switch from one to another being closer, but it is personal taste. As for evading SAMs. At hight altitude, a split S is pretty useful to change direction away from the threat while dropping CM without losing speed. At low altitude, terrain masking is best if available. Otherwise, when in the open, diving (or a series of dive-climb-dive) can make the missile hit the ground, as they go lead pursuit for intercept. Also, set throttles to idle for a moment when flaring an incoming IR missile. That reduces your IR signature and the chance that it will go after the decoys is improved.

The loss of speed at higher altitudes in f-15c
escaner replied to Punisher74's topic in F-15C for DCS World
As this seems a recurring post, people now and then claiming that DCS F-15C cannot do Mach 2.5, there you go, just did a quick flight: 37,680 ft Mach 2.524 767 KIAS It was starting to shake, so it seem that it will not go beyond that at this altitude. -
The UHF radio mode GD XMIT in Huey and GRD in A-10C is not for GROUND but for GUARD (emergency 243 MHz frequency, equivalent to 121.5 MHz in VHF). It is just a quick way to tune the emergency frequency.

What munitions to use against targets
escaner replied to thdman1511's topic in DCS World 1.x (read only)
It was already like that in July 2014, when I first did the mission. -

I remember that mission, you needed both bombs on target to destroy it. -
There is a zoom axis that will enlarge the HUD text, but will not change perspective. Some people prefer that one to the y position for trackir. Or you con map it in another hotas axis. Or even joystick buttons, as there is that option too for zoom.
-
That is correct.
-
6 DOF cockpit plus TrackIR (or similar solutions) help a lot with that.
-
I guess you drained your battery. Check the DC voltmeter indication, you need around 24V for a battery start.
-
Sounds cool, thank's :)

What is the IR pointer used for in game?

(US) Army Standard skin without External Hardpoints
escaner replied to escaner's topic in DCS: UH-1H
Thank's, fixed. Just need to replace this file in: "C:\Program Files\Eagle Dynamics\DCS World\Bazar\Liveries\uh-1h\Army Standard" description.lua -
Actually I meant the front (car like) pilot & copilot doors.
