  1. In funnel mode you need to press the lock button when the target is in the HUD field of view.
  2. Summer sale has historically been on June, you can check the news in DCS site. There are also sales in Steam...
  3. I just received these controls today from Amazon and this switch feels weird. A lot of play in the center position and very low quality. It also feels lighter pushing it forward and heavier backwards. Not sure whether it should just be like that or better ask for a replacement... I would appreciate comments from other owners. Thank you! PS: I can't seem to put the video showing the problem inline, so I will just leave the link
  4. According to Update 2 release notes, CBU FPS drop was fixed
  5. SNECMA Coléoptère deserves to be here (and many other VTOL experimental aircaft from that era).
  6. Well, that depends on what kind of planes you were flying in FS. If you fly PMDG, Level-D and that kind of stuff and you do it realistically, flying them like the manuals of the manufacturer and an airline says, calculating takeoff performance with reduced thrust, landing speed, required fuel, etc, I find the A-10C pretty similar in difficulty. Just the HOTAS controls are a bit weird, but in the end you get used to them. Then there is the combat stuff, that you don't have in civil aircraft, but that is more of the same. If we talk just about the flying behaviour of the aircraft, it is pretty noble. Yes, you need to trim, of course. You also need to trim a Cessna 152 and a Boeing 737. No autotrim nor fly-by-wire here. So, I would say: easy to fly? Yes. Complexity of systems: High. But we should have more complex planes soon in DCS.
  7. Did you guys see the latest open beta release notes? http://forums.eagle.ru/showpost.php?p=2386055&postcount=7 Helicopter AI shooting on ground targets - fixed Not sure if that is only for AI helicopters or also for AI gunners in human played helicopters too, but may be related to this thread.
  8. They do in some missile/aircraft/hardpoint combinations. E.g.: * AIM-7/Sky Flash on F-4 4 underbelly hardpoints, but not underwing. * AIM-7 on F-14 4 underbelly and 2 wingroot hardpoints * Sky Flash on Tornado ADV 4 underbelly hardpoints The AIM-7 can be launched from a rail or dropped/ejected and the Sky Flash is a British AIM-7 derivative. In these images you can see the slots where the Sky Flash fins go in the Tornado ADV: http://www.projectoceanvision.com/vox/images/chapter10/f3-alarm.jpg http://media.defenceindustrydaily.com/images/AIR_Tornado_F3_Underside_lg.jpg
  9. BTW, that CAP-9 in Odessa mission is a bug? I have seen them in some other mission too. It is a training captive Sidewinder, no use for them in combat, and with those pesky Fulcrums around it would be nice to have a live one or two. PS: Yes, they shot me down after evading 5 missiles. ;)
  10. I did Hammerfall 1 a couple of weeks ago and it was fine. Before the second convoy gets there, Overlord tells you to drop the Mk.82's on the buildings so the insurgents come out. Actually I never did that because at the same time, they sent me chasing something else, but it was not problem anyway.
  11. Yes, the IR sensor should work pretty much like that, seems realistic. The unrealistic part is flying in clouds with the mountains that close, no pilot would do that. ;) But in the real world that attack would have been cancelled due to bad weather or just dropped bombs on coordinates, and it is a pretty cool mission in the sim, so we better have the fun. :) BTW, I tried the next mission (7) and could not contact the Mi-24. Tuned the freq but didn't get any audio nor there was any option in F10. Am I missing anything here?
  12. Generally yes, but it depends on each plane. In some of them there is no control on the wheel and it is free to turn any direction. Here, you need to use differential braking to turn. In others, like most airliners, you have limited wheel control on the pedals for the takeoff and landing runs, and then there is a tiller or two in the cockpit for the tighter turns when taxiing.
  13. The Wright Flyer controls were no like the ones in modern airplanes. They used a stick to control pitch (that is similar), and leaning their hips left and right they controlled wing warping for banking and rudder for yaw at the same time, as they were synchronized. No controls at their feet.
  14. Your "muscle memory" makes sense when you think how the steering wheel in a bus moves or in the movement on an axis between your feet. No doubt that would be more intuitive. But pedals in aircraft do not work like that. Don't worry, you will get the hang of it pretty soon. ;)
  15. I understand your concerns now. For the 1st takeoff, it is already at neutral, so easy to set trim to hover position. The transitions from hover (or takeoff) to cruise and back to hover, I do them according to the aircraft behavior and reactions to my inputs. And for a takeoff after landing, the controls are already at the hover position.
  16. I can't see your profile, it appears without assignations to me. I have attached a screenshot from the editor. In the red square is the ministick assignation. Note that: * As I have a Spanish keyboard, it says "ñ" instead of ";" and "-" instead of "/". * The band range is not fully symmetric but it feels better like this in my ministick (same force in every direction).
  17. Just look at the first column for the slew mapping. I use normal (Boat Aft / Mode 1) and shifted mode (Boat Aft (S) / Pinkie + Mode 1). In shifted mode it acts as normal mouse. I mapped the 3-state Mode switch as Boat switch, but in order to avoid a bug in the display of the X52 I had to do it like this, in 6 columns... messy.
  18. I have my old X52 (not Pro) profile as you say and no problems here... (I couldn't make it work as an axis in DCS) Attaching the SST file, in case you can open it. DCS-A10C.zip
  19. If you are having PIO problems, definitely set a curve in your stick axes and even pedals. The value depends on every controller, but i guess between 10 and 20 is the most common. If the joystick is "sticky" and you feel hard to do very small movements, also try some grease in the contact areas to smooth it. Those two things (along with good good trimming, ofc) helped me a lot with refueling. OTOH, if you are concentrated doing other tasks, you have a very simple AP with three modes that can be very helpful: PATH - allows you to keep a climb or descent angle, wings level. ALT/HDG - maintains barometric altitude and magnetic heading ALT - mantains barometric altitude and banking angle (very useful, e.g. it allows you to orbit while doing other task like setting up stuff or looking for contacts.
  20. Yes, like I said Pilot Trimmer (T key) is probably the most used function. But still cannot see what Trim reset is good for.
  21. I agree that Trimmer is probably the most used button in the Huey, but what do you use Trim reset for? I assume that it resets the force trim to center, but I have never found the need for that.
  22. Good to know :) Yesterday I tried it for the second time (the first one ended with a CFIT in a bad turn after losing SA). This mission has encouraged me to use lots of markpoints that previously I barely used. This is my debriefing on Hammerfall 3:
  23. Yes, I am using use the green light, of course. But in dusk and dawn hours it seems right to use the white one, as it has a more neutral color.
  24. The Mirage 2000 is able to carry at least 6 Mica + 2 Magic (it has 9 hardpoints). Maybe even 8 Mica. http://de.acidcow.com/pics/20111019/acid_picdump_17.jpg The F.1's max load is 2 x Magic and 2 x Super 530 AFAIK, with 7 hardpoints (two of them being the wingtip rails). That for AAM only.
  25. I find the white dome light too bright for any conditions (day and specially night). Is there a way to adjust its intensity, maybe through LUA files? Thank's
