  1. Currently you cannot do that in RWS, it is fixed full width. In TWS, where it is reduced, the left/right scan area is controlled with the TDC (cursor)
  2. SPOILER ALERT! The assault choppers disembark troops in the flat area, and they move towards the camp, therefore that is their front. You start with fire support on that camp. Then you are told that there are enemies on the back. That is the other direction: they appear on the slope that you see in time 0:07 on your video.
  3. Yes that is what I was asking. :) Most of the time I could not get a lock from funnel mode on an F-15. I then tried agains a S-3 and it was pretty simple. It is just that the system has problem with manouevering targets as you say or you need to keep the target in some place relative to you or something? It is strange, as getting the lock in VS or helmet modes is much easier, so I assume that I am missing something or doing something wrong...
  4. I am having a hard time locking targets in funnel mode to go to LCOS. Sometimes I can get a lock, but most of the time I can't. What is the locking region? Do I need to repeatedly press the lock button or I can keep it pressed? I assume I need radar on, is that right? Any other thing I might be missing? Thank's!
  5. In DCS 1.2 there were a bunch of F-15 missions for dissimilar air combat training 1 vs 1, 1 vs 2 and 2 vs 2 (they were labeled like FC2 DACT). I cannot find them anymore in 1.5. Are they still available somewhere?
  6. I am not sure, I got the Huey in Feb 2015 and for me it has always been like that.
  7. Unfortunately yes, all missions begin with the Huey already started. Actually in some of them you need to follow your leader, who already is in the air. I found that pretty underwhelming too.
  8. Just look for pdf files... Steam also uses to have a contextual menu for manuals
  9. Still more missions in this campaign with the same problem. The complete list is: 2, 6, 11, 13 & 14.
  10. I also recently completed this mission (last weekend I guess). In my case, the insurgents did shoot after the evac. As a matter of fact, I had them just in front of me when they started shooting.
  11. Same problem with missions 6 and 11
  12. When exactly should that sound? I am now flying the UN pilot campaign and unfortunately the helo is already started, but want to check it, as I never noticed it,
  13. OK, so this screenshot I took long ago wasn't really a bug?
  14. Mission briefings in this campaign refer to Kutaisi NDB at 477kHz as TIG, but it actually is TI. Yesterday I was like half an hour trying to tune and id TIG until I realized of the mistake...
  15. When using the Army Standard (USA) skin with an unarmed Huey, it loads incorrect textures, rendering a plain green helicopter. Attached is the fix, need to replace this .lua file. Regards uh-1h_army-standard.zip
  16. If you mean good as in "The right stuff", then I recommend "The right stuff". :) Unfortunately aviation movies are not very good if we keep space aside. Well, even "The right stuff" enters into the space theme. Others worth looking that I pretty much like: - A dark blue world - Memphis Belle - The final countdown - The aviator - Airplane! (not sure whether this one qualifies, but it is just hilarious) A few historical, almost documentary: - Midway - The Dambusters - Tora, tora, tora - Battle of Britain Some jets: - Top Gun - Iron Eagle saga (the first one is not really that bad... I mean, it is pretty bad, but watch-able... cannot say the same about the others.) TBH, there are lots more If we can include space movies, very worth seeing: - 2001: A space odyssey - Apollo 13 - From the Earth to the Moon (miniseries)
  17. So do I, but E model has internal cannon. The other variants could use an external Vulcan pod, which proved inaccurate and prone to jamming, besides being less efficient areodinamically and of course using a pylon. That is why I guess E will be preferred. OTOH, F-4J was also a nice multirole variant and it could perform carrier operations.
  18. F-4, Tornado and F-14 being some of my favourite airplanes, I don't like two seaters in simulation. I see the dual crew stuff in DCS very situational, and handling everything just one person is unrealistic. Still plenty of possibilites: F/A-18, Mirage III, MiG-23, (Super) Étendard, F-16, even realistic versions of F-15, Su-27 or MiG-29... That being said, I know that many two seaters would be very successful sellers.
  19. Actually Dassault designed and built prototypes for two aircraft simultaneously: Mirage 2000 and his big brother, Super Mirage 4000, with delta wing + canard configuration, wich was eventually cancelled. The M2000 kept those little fixed canards tho, maybe being lighter and smaller it didn't need the bigger movable ones. But the configuration was known and tested by the company.
  20. FFR: Folding Fin Rockets
  21. Predictive displays the pipper so when you put it on your locked target, the projectile stream will go through it. So, it uses same ballistics info as funnel/snake, but also some info about the target (relative position and motion vector) instead of your historical manoeuvring + range. In DCS, both F-15C and Su-27 have this kind of gunsight. Probably also MiG-29. This F-16N displays the snake and a predictive gunsight at the same time: https://drive.google.com/file/d/0B_tF_mQ7p54gV2ZrZEFzSUVha0E/view?usp=sharing Source: PS: If we are going to keep talking about gunsights, maybe we should move out of this thread, it seems off topic to me...
  22. Nice, Microprose F-19 manual, that was my first flight sim in PC hehe. For aiming I prefer info about the target to info about my manouvering. I have always been more accurate with fixed sights than with funnels, snakes or that P-51 sight which is basically the same, and find them totally useless for snapshots. Will check Robert Shaw's book, have it at home.
  23. Yes, it seems to mark both the pipper for the range on the snake and an unwinding circular range indicator. I have been watching some M2000 HUD footage and certainly this seems the actual behaviour. I am a bit shocked tho, I really expected a point of impact prediction in a fighter from the 80s.
  24. I mean that piper with the range scale inside the red circle. It seems to appear when a target is locked, but it just seems to be following the snake, as if only the range to the target is being used and not its position and velocity vector. https://drive.google.com/file/d/0B_tF_mQ7p54gNGhFbzBGWHlVOXc/view?usp=sharing
  25. I can see a pipper when he gets a lock on the target aircraft, but it just seems to follow the snake instead of computing the impact point with target parameters. That does not seem right... or is it?
