What sounds are new?
-
I also want realistic RWR, but it is out of our hands now. It might get fixed in three days, three weeks, three months, three years... This is a multi-year project. Development will ramp up and down from time to time and ED will prioritize product sustainment and new features at their discretion. Couple of years from now, we might end up with a finished Viper. As always, everything is subject to change. Until then, all we can do is report and bring issues to light.

Hi there, hope that a savvy user or Eagly Dynamics staff can help me with this. F1+Left ctrl enable Natural Head Movement. It is a very nice but have an issue! If Im flying and fighting in the horizontal plane the view pitches up and over the HUD glass. Allowing me to get tally on bandit in a curve fight. So far so good! But, the movement does not re-center down to default position when leveling out, The view becomes permanently tilted upwards. Instead of Seeing ICP and MFD's the view sits firmly at the bottom of HUD glass. Is there any workarounds or fixes for this? Thanks :)

Can not get Betty to say: "Chaff-Flare" "Lock" Altitude warning seems to work fine, as does the other Betty sounds but only during startup test.

That is probably because the developers are russians. Russia and other eastern european countries uses yellow tracers that looks very much like those we have in DCS.

You have to realize the module is 5 years old by now. Sporadically updated by a very small team on evenings and weekends. It will slowly deteriorate over time as DCS World continues to update and develop. Almost everything (like games) has a shelf life and MiG-21bis is no different. ED products are a bit different as they have the resources needed to keep their modules up to date as time moves on. But supporting old modules is a difficult task that all 3rd party developers will have to face at some point. I have got some of the best DCS times in the MiG-21bis :) It was the module that got me really hooked on DCS. While I would like to see it in a better state, with long hinted cockpit and rwr updates, I also realize that any progress will be slow or might not arrive at all.

I think that Eagle Dynamics should look into community volunteers. There are many, very skilled artists among us that can make assets like AI aircraft and vehicles. Sadly, those often stay as unofficial mods. If community development moderated well and quality assured by ED staff like SkateZilla, NineL. etc. aswell as some form of signed agreement, I think it is a good way to bring more into DCS World without putting a strain on the ED dev team.

Several other people with F-16 knowledge has pointed put these issues aswell. Im sure ED will iron out before release.
-
That’s because R-27 is the primary missile for everyone flying Flankers and Fulcrums. Not to mention AI redfor. It is an essential weapon that is often used in game. Update of R-27 family should be a top priority.
-
Thats because AI does not follow the same rules as a human player. They have 360 degree vision, so you cannot sneak up on them. AI also have insane energy and will use it. When you are stalling in the vertical, cookin’ your engine - the AI will keep going upwards. ED is aware about the AI issue so hopefully it will be fixed. I don’t even bother with WWII air-air as it is a very frustrating experience.
-
I don’t mind waiting :) But it is frustrating to get hyped up over something that seems to go in and out of development for an extended period of time. Just like the WWII damage model. Or the new Kutznetsov. Or SCUD. It would be better to give estimated release windows and show weekly progress in in the newsletters. If no work has been done on the particular project that is fine too. At least people know what is going on and what projects are getting attention at the moment.

I have tried multicrew in L39, F-14 and Gazelle. While it is sort of fun, it usually has a bunch of desync issues (not as much on F-14). Tbh I don’t know if it’s worth it at it’s current state. New tech needs to be developed to make multicrew more viable. In the mean time I would settle for a ”Jester” crew chief. That helps spotting threats, cargo, friendly units, remind you of EGT temperatures and stuff :)

DCS: F-16CM Block 50 by EDSA Discussion Thread
Schmidtfire replied to NineLine's topic in DCS: F-16C Viper
Wow... I think it is a relevant question as the product is already up for sale. I do know the state of Hornet, but that still leaves us guessing about the Viper at release. Talked to a couple of other people I fly with and they assume that Phase 1 items are included at launch... If we’re going to buy this before release, is it really too much to ask what will be included on Day 1? -

Yes, but will Phase 1 be completed and finished at release? Features like TWS avalible on day one? Or is Phase 1 - Early Access something that will run and be finished over a couple of months before entering product sustainment? -

Im a bit confused. From Wags post there are two phases to the Viper. Phase 1 Early Access and Phase 2 product sustainment. Will eveything listed under Phase 1 be avalible at launch? -
Any news on the ”Triangle” HUD symbology for Magic+Radar lock? It’s something that should finally be implemented I think.
-
I think ED is working on a new weather-system, with humidity and clouds. First I would like to see clouds and weather to be synced between clients in multiplayer, then implement effects on weapons. Get the basics correct first :)
-
[REPORTED] - AGM-84D NOT SYNCED between clients.
Schmidtfire replied to Maverick87Shaka's topic in Multiplayer Bugs
I wonder if it’s the same issue that also makes AIM-54 desynced between clients? It lofts ok on ”shooters” computer, but the clients has not the same trajectory or loft in multiplayer. Hopefully with Harpoon fix it will also fix the AIM-54 in multiplayer :) -
Good thing is that F-4E has been added to the USA forces in mission editor. It can also carry old AIM-7 and AIM-9 variants. AI only, but could be used as a supporting bluefor jet in PvP missions. Heatblur might release the F-14A (been rather quiet lately) if thats the case there you have another opponent. If mods are okay, the A-4 is also a viable opponent.
-
You also have the Mirage 2000C. A bit updated, but also a viable option. Viggen’s 90s updates are kind of minimal if you remove Rb-74, Rb-15F and BK-90. F-5E is ok, but is a rare version with RWR.
-
Ok in that case it makes a lot of sense. I didn't know that CAS is flown as pairs.
-
The French probably has good reason behind this setup. I find it really cool, but seems more like a way to overcome the 2000D's lack of a cannon, not a cost saving measure. It would be cheaper just using one aircraft (with a cannon). That's my point. If the Mirage 2000D had a cannon, there is not much use of the additional Mirage 2000C. Sure, more GBU's but how many of those do they need to drop on a bunch of ragtag guerilla fighters during a CAS sortie? If Mirage 2000D gets a gunpod it sounds like the Mirage 2000C won't really add anything to the table. Unless doctrine states there has to be two or more aircrafts performing CAS together. Anyways, just my toughts and speculations. Again, find this setup cool and interesting:)
-
I mean it sounds expensive to use two jets just to get additional GBU’s and a cannon.
-
Thanks for the information :) I find this highly interesting. Seems like an expensive CAS solution bringing a Mirage 2000C for cannon and extra GBU’s. However I realize that the cannon can be a really important tool during CAS missions.
