  1. Sorry for not following up on this. The airfield in mission 2...yes, it IS hard and I have been somewhat careless I suppose. The enemy AAA-sites should be marked on the map for the mission briefing. And also, even if you know exactly where to go, the time pressure is a killer and this here "poor man's gunship" maneuver is terribly hard...especially under stress ;) Will give mission 2 some consideration though, it's not fun if the majority of pilots have to do this mission over and over again. This fact that the hard part is also several minutes into the mission...after some already quite hard parts. So I understand your frustrations. Considering a mission split for the moment (thus facilitating quicker replays over the airfield) and maybe not making the maneuver any easier at all. Thanks for all the feedback, will keep y'all posted.
  2. That's not so bad, compare it to the Mirage for example :)
  3. The Carl Gustav is pretty much a recoilless rifle. There's no whoosh or rockety behavior at all, it's just a big BLAM when you fire it...followed by a kick in your face :) But is that recoil? No, not really as 80% of the charge goes out behind you. But the sheer punch, it's a nice feeling. We were taught to always have our mouths open when firing... Ahem, back to topic - rockets or missiles fired from a helicopter shouldn't give any recoil at all.
  4. crazyeddie's HMS Furious - NOW IT WORKS! Now all we need is a Buccaneer ;)
  5. Flying choppers is the worst and most demanding of any flying discipline. Chin up and keep comin' back :)
  6. After a period of testing, I feel it's quite alright for release now. You can find it in the user files section. Cheers Robin Takolander
  7. Having flown the Mig-21 for far too long, I noticed how I didn't bother with trim when I returned to the Sabre. So yeah, just say no and be on your merry way ;)
  8. Pretty much all aircraft in DCS are awesome. This is the sim that brought me back into flightsims after a decade of Battlefield etc. So basically, just pick the coolest aircraft and go with that. Then maybe pick another almost as cool aircraft and discover that it's actually way cooler than your initial pick. And go from there...there's no return :)
  9. And for some reason I now get both bombs released when set to "All", even if I just press the release very swift and gently (which worked OK two days ago). Distant rumble sounds from explosions has also returned. Strange thing is my Steam client has NOT updated overnight. Anyways, things are in order now :)
  10. Breathtaking! I hope you work with video editing as a professional. Otherwise I feel like the biggest amateur on youtube ;)
  11. I've noticed "All"-bombs bug as well. But to be honest, I really like it and I hope we can keep it (saves me a LOT of time flickin' switches).
  12. I fly X-Plane every now and then and there is ATC, although it's pretty crappy in singleplayer. BUT, if you fly online there are some crazy IRL-people that do the ATC-job, free of charge. And as pointed out, some of the civilian sims have HUGE maps. In X-plane it's the whole world and that makes things really interesting for me. I can fly over the Andes and check out all the weird rock formations, I can fly down Grand Canyon and land on the river with a float plane, I can try out some "tough guy" flying in Alaska...etc etc. Besides all this, there are detailed airports and extra scenery you can buy to get things even more realistic. I wouldn't recommend X-Plane to everyone though, it's flight model is said to be top of the line but when comparing to DCS...I don't know what they have been smoking. It's alright, yes, but it doesn't even come close to the feel in DCS.
  13. Good info! :)
  14. Nice read, gonna buy some aviator sunglasses. Maybe a Navy leather jacket as well. Nah, who am I kiddin' here? I got those already. Just need the F-14 now ;)
  15. Those pilots lived by a code. And they were men. Oldschool.
  16. #RageQuit For anyone else with similiar problem, look for a BIG building ;) (BIGGEST building, almost adjacent to the tarmac)
  17. Dude, land on each one - yeah go building-hopping and eventually things will work out! ;)
  18. Hey that action shot was AWESOME! And I think you're on the right path about heading straight for the coast. Coming in, I usually do it from the southern part to take advantage of the headwind. I used to roll in on the tarmac but nowadays I've discovered it safer to just go nuts and pull back on the stick and drop the collective...in a wide half-circling landing. THEN meet up with the collective whilst "ground effect braking". Main thing is come in fast and irregular. But them bad commies got one of your engines huh? Well, that's progress to me anyhow :) And I'm glad you like the missions too - they're not suitable for everybody. SPEULER ALERT: I've made the commandos and several other mission critical units immortal. Some might think that's a bummer but I think it's the only way to go. This being more of an 80s action movie and less of a Tom Clancy novel ;) Besides, with the game engine getting changed every month, infantry and ground units in general get changed in their behaviour all the time...why not play it safe? :)
  19. LOL! Dude, it's not all about being macho, it's about appearing macho. Just say a few tough guy oneliners and be on your merry way ;) (myself, I can barely grow a moustache...and I have NO ISSUES with that)
  20. You'll find it in the user downloads section. Contains some improvements since the old version and maybe a few Easter eggs as well. Oh and the lightest/easiest jungle-mod you've ever seen ;) cheers Robin Takolander
  21. :megalol: The horror!
  22. AH! OK, maybe that's the problem then. Them guys with AKs...always the problem  Try not to fly regular, try coming in [insert 20 lines of MORE hot tips, this time regarding evading ground fire] ;)
  23. About that killing of the engines: I got the same report from a guy flying the old Huey campaign. He sent me a track-file and OH BOY did he punish the engine. With the collective. HARD and jittery. Now I'm not saying you did the same and my only intent here is to stress how important it is to go smooth on the collective. I move it very slowly when the engine/chopper is under pressure. I DO move it fast when I'm pretty much weightless though (=a LOT less strain on the engine). My point being, try to use the air "pillow" when you come in and only use collective moderately. As smooth as possible. If you can't get things working for you, turn off the brakes and make a rolling landing. You might of course know all this already and if that's the case, I'm in no way trying to "lecture" you. Myself, I hate when people point out the obvious to me. Condescending morons... BUT: What if your joystick is doing all the punishment? Maybe it's too sensitive or something like that. If that's the case I don't know how I can help. I fly with an old MSFFB2 from 2001 and I have no clue about curves or anything like that. I just plugged it in when I got DCS and I've never bothered with any special settings. But do check your joystick, see if there's any way to mellow things down on the collective. Alright, "lecture" over now ;)
  24. He nice guy you know, just a bit misunderstood ;)
  25. YOU NAILED IT! Couldn't have put it better myself. And thanks :)
