  1. Can never seem to give Blacklion enough reputation, pretty much every post he brings to this forum deserves one.. ..unless of course I diagree! :P ;) Interesting stuff.
  2. Well, I can probably get out of 3 of those 4 options. No one gets out of a compressor stall!! :joystick:  I actually really want to fly the A model, it would of had some crazy nuances to it that would of made it both a beast and a burden. Edit: Omg it looks so fun Cobra, incredible work.
  3. Well I hope it works out for both companies - it now seems we have talented teams for both the F-14 and the Corsair - this is excellent news for DCS players. The Mig-21 and AJS-37 are both top shelf modules, things are looking exciting! I just hope there is no bad blood between the teams, business stuff always gets complicated especially for passionate people with their drive to work on their baby.
  4. Looks like Cobra is trying to deploy countermeasures! Stay locked on fellas!! ;):P Heatblur Simulations? Are you guys ditching the Leatherneck Simulations name? Edit: Just read the post regarding the Heatblur thing. Still.. Countermeasures!
  5. There's my baby! *hugs F-14*
  6. Eagerly awaiting mine! It's like Australia is far away or something :P
  7. Sensational as always Chuck!
  8. I don't use the helmet sound option myself, but it sounds like a fix is in order so we can all hear those sweet, sweet tunes!
  9. The Tomcat uses Automatic sweep for the wings - ie it adjusts to speed to maintain the best flight profile. The wings can also be manually swept by the pilot - they can even be asymmetrically swept - and tests were carried out with asymmetrical wing sweep. :joystick:
  10. *Pictures over the head ear phones atop the pilots helmet* Well if that's the case it could actually be some amazing sound modelling that is on the cusp of sound technology and hence another classy innovation in this module. Or it's just the broad filter the "hear if in helmet" feature they apply to sound when the option is ticked. I would like to see it separated from that option if possible myself please :)
  11. This. Not all flight sticks/joysticks have a two stage trigger available. Edit: Those specific commands I have assigned to a hat on my throttle.
  12. Yep, pull out your kneeboard pencil and start rewinding that tape manually. That so needs to be an F-14 RIO feature lol :P
  13. Awesome stuff, so need rotary binds for that datapanel selector and weapons.
  14. You will need to allocate key presses yourself to those entries. Open the Assign Controls in game, or preferably through the DCS main menu options. If you use the DCS Main Menu to access it make sure you select the right module you want to assign controls to from the drop down box that appears in the top left hand corner of the new screen that is opened. Then it is a matter of finding what you want to assign - ie T0, T1, TV and click on that entry. Now you will see the options for keyboard, joystick, throttle (whatever you have) in columns. Find the corresponding column you want - ie keyboard. Click on that colum on the line that corresponds with what you want to assign a key to. This will bring up another entry box and from here you assign what key/buttons you want to assign to that command. Hit the Apply button before you exit to save your commands. You should now have successfully binded a key to what you want.
  15. Assign the keys yourself. Select what you want to assign a key to and then click on the keyboard column that corresponds with that entry and assign a keystroke you would like to use. I assign my X55 via the profiling software at present so that I can use my thumb stick on the throttle to control things. If I was doing it purely via DCS again you open the Assign Control options then select what you want to assign, highlight the corresponding joystick column and then click the button you want to assign to it.
  16. I am very much interested in the rotaries being assigned - clockwise and counterclockwise commands as well. For example I can map the TILS with no problem but for example the Datapanel Selector of the CK-37 has no key bindings I can see (let alone any type of rotary assignment). So at present I cannot do anything with the Datapanel selector other than mouse click which is quite annoying - I would like to be able to assign it to a rotary or have the option of key presses. Maybe I am just not seeing the keys assigned to the Datapanel selector rotary? I too would also like an ARM and SAFE toggle as well please :)
  17. Sounds like exactly what it is. It's a prelude for the F-14a where this will happen too, imagine how much more annoying it will be though when one of the two engines does it while the other powers on as normal :P
  18. I love her flight characteristics - she gets very draggy at low speed, she does warn you before hand though with some gentle yawing as well as descent. The engine is powerful but it is not instantaneous power so in other jet aircraft you could slam the throttle and get that safety back very quickly, in the Viggen it is much more dicey - which is great for learning how to manage/avoid low speed and too much alpha for the speed. I imagine it is also great practice for the F-14A. She flies wonderfully down low at high speed and she is a joy to throw around - I've been terrain hugging everywhere I go, I should spend more time with her up high to see how she handles. I can really appreciate after a short time of flying her, why it was reported that some Viggen pilots would of liked a second engine!
  19. Would be very nice to have the option to launch a rocket per pod at a time as per training pod, my first rocket run i lined up the start of my run, wanted to make sure I was aiming right and hit the trigger. I expected to see a rocket release and then be able to gauge my accuracy from it and see what I needed to correct for my next pass. As it was, I was enveloped by a cloud of smoke and fire which atomised the point I aimed at. I remembered at that point the discussion on these forums re: the rocket pods lol Looking at it, in a Cold War situation I would probably want my first pass to count as well so I could get the hell away from the target area and RTB, rather than potentially have to come back around at what would be a hornets nest of very angry people shooting at me :P
  20. Roxette! Of course, would fit the AJS era as well a little more
  21. You blokes have outdone yourselves, the Viggen is a beautiful and enjoyable aircraft to fly. Very much enjoying it's flight characteristics and having a great time. Completely worth the time and money.
  22. I just loaded up some ABBA tracks lol ..and remastered them in-flight. .. You can dance, you can jive, having the time of your l...BOOOOOM!! Edit: really need to load up Danger Zone and go low and fast. Are we getting this feature for the F-14 Cobra? :)
  23. I have mastered nothing and I am barely competent in tooling around the skies of the Caucasus at low level and high speed enjoying it's flight characteristics and gauging it's response. It's a wonderful aircraft to fly with. Given that it's only being released in the last 12 hours or so I dare say there is no one who has really mastered anything in it :)
  24. Curse you international time differences!!! *shakes fist* :P It's already 11hrs into the 27th here! This is so going to release while I am at work and I'll come home to all you blokes posting Viggen stuff lol
  25. Same thing I tend to do, i'm not arguing or attacking anyone with my posts, just reasoning why some people are apprehensive :) I've pre-ordered and I'll be playing it regardless of what branch it is on. Unfortunately somethings things can just go wrong when swapping around things regardless of intent or past stability, especially, as QuiGon said, if you for some reason switch to an Alpha release and back (where my variances of data is to be expected). I understand that in this case it is a beta switch to another beta switch and that data variance is probably just module related and hence reversible easily enough. Given that there is going to be new data with the Viggen there is always the potential for an issue. Again it's not something I'm worried about, but I can see why people are :)
