That's what should happen, yes. *Cough* https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Delta_Air_Lines_Flight_89
-
It should also be noted that all of the good advice above (trim for AoA, power adjusts Flight Path, don't use Pitch etc) pretty much only applies to Navy aircraft, and specifically the F-18. The F-16 for instance is flown differently because the FCS in landing mode is a Pitch Rate system and not an AoA based system like the Hornet.
-
As long as you're in CCRP mode, yes that should work.
-
You NEEED a curve with the T16000, I'd be running something like 20 or even 30 depending on how it feels. Deadzone should be big enough so that any "wobble" in a centre of the stick doesn't get registered as a control input. IMHO I find the AV8B pretty stable in the hover when coming in for landing. 83 on the nozzle, and I try to not let the descent rate get higher then 400fpm
-
Can you confirm that? I haven't been able to get it to work. Its how it should work but I don't know if it does in the sim.

pulling back on the stick for better braking...
Deano87 replied to fitness88's topic in DCS: F/A-18C
I don't know in inches, i'd guess 1 or 2.. its more about force, it takes about 30lb of force to remove the handle from its housing and then about 50lb of force to activate one or both of the "initiators". -

 That sounds like one of those things somebody found out the hard way lol. Ouch. -
[LATER IN EARLY ACCESS] Air to Ground missiles
Deano87 replied to Dannyvandelft's topic in Wish List
Wu70 your saltiness towards ED isn't called for. They are currently working integrating a proper SPI system which will allow multiple sensors to all be slaved to the same point. This doesn't currently exist in the Viper and our current system is a fudge to give us some functionality. This will be required to be working correctly before any smart or standoff weapons will be possible. It's being worked on currently, It's not in the change logs because it's not finished. Your dissection of the change logs don't prove anything about what big aspects of the Viper ED are working on in the background. We all want "fun' stuff and not "boring" things as you put it. But certain systems are required to be in place before ED can get to the fun stuff. -
[REPORTED] Post-2.5.6 HUD Horizon-line Inconsistent

Temp Workaround found : https://forums.eagle.ru/showthread.php?p=4230744#post4230744 -
Hey all, Anybody here who is suffering from the Horizon line / HUD vertical offset bug as listed here: https://forums.eagle.ru/showthread.php?t=263441 I’ve found a workaround which works as follows: Start jet, make sure systems are fully booted up. Select Stored heading align, wait the 2 mins until alignment completes with precision of 10 Move alignment switch to Nav, wait a few secs. Move the alignment switch back to Normal align (not stored heading) confirm that the precision is now counting down from 10 to 6. Once precision reaches 6 switch back to Nav. For me this fixes the HUD and horizon offset bug. Hope that helps.

Pitch trim in the F-18 when in Flaps auto mode works verrrryyy slowly, however roll trim should be normal. It sounds like you might be in some game flight model or game avionics mode. Go into the options and look in either Gameplay or Misc for anything relating to Game Avionics Mode, or Game Flight Model and make sure they are not ticked.

It’s just a different sound file, so no it doesn’t change any of that stuff. But yeah it doesn’t seem to work in 2.5.6. :/
-
Thats related to the coding of how the Shkval moves rather then the axis tuning in DCS. That effect doesn't apply to flight controls
-
While I agree that an excessively large deadzone can cause issues, That's not how deadzone works in DCS. Once you pass the deadzone point the control starts to move linearly from 0%, even if the physical stick is at 10% position. There is no jumping around.

Hmm... I don't know why. I'll take a look.

[REPORTED] Post-2.5.6 HUD Horizon-line Inconsistent
Deano87 replied to WingC3's topic in Bugs and Problems
Sorry to bring this back up. I just noticed in Wag's latest updated of the F-16 mini-updates thread he said: "Also on the Viper front the next update: 1- Continued work on the Dogfight switch functions 2- Addition of the DLZ to the radar page, Dogfight HUD, and HMCS 3- Fix incorrect IFF ID in network play 4- Adding new interactive training missions 5- Adjusted horizon line when on the Persian Gulf map 6- Adding flight to refuel commands" Just to reiterate, its not just the horizon line, its all ground related HUD symbology including FPM, CCIP pipper, Strafe pipper, Steerpoint marker and TGP box. Also it happens on cold-start jets on Caucuses, NTTR and PG sceneries. -
Fixed the A/P 3 position switch for you!

TARGET caused me no end of problems when I used to use it, the TARGET software would hiccup and my HOTAS would disconnect mid flight, resulting me in me lawn darting. This happened A LOT and I tried everything to stop it, including swapping all my devices to different USB ports and then to a powered USB hub... nope, still happening. In the end I dropped TARGET and all my problems went away. I am not the only person to have these problems, including a couple of my friends who also dumped TARGET for similar reasons. So there are valid reasons for not using the TARGET software. -
Go Fly! its got some stuff missing but its absolutely useable for most things!

You should not fly the aircraft with trim, you should trim only to adjust stick loads. AAR and all formation flying should be flown with stick only and not trim.

[NEED TRACK REPLAY]TGP doesn't show in right MFD
Deano87 replied to Dannyvandelft's topic in Bugs and Problems
Huh. I can place TGP on the right screen easily by clicking one of the three central OSB buttons at the bottom of the screen twice and then selecting TGP from the list? -
Guys. You’re all being effected by the HUD offset bug, as reported here. https://forums.eagle.ru/showthread.php?t=263441 All ground related symbology (horizon line, pitch ladder, FPM, CCIP pipper, Strafe pipper, Target locator box and TGP box) is shifted upwards on the HUD roughly 1 degree. This makes CCIP innacurate, and the FPV somewhat useless as well. If you’re sat on the ground and the horizon line is above the horizon then you are having this bug. This bug generally appears when the jet is cold started. Although apparently for some people it’s intermittent I get it 100% of the time with a cold start. With a hot start jet, I don’t get this bug and CCIP is accurate. It’s Reported and will be fixed pronto hopefully.

Er... I'm going to see some figures to back up that statement. I know MANY people who fly in DCS both online and single player only and I don't know anybody who doesn't either used Track IR, some kind of Track IR clone or VR. I don't know anybody who uses mouse for look. If you have the capability of moving your head, please do yourself a favour and buy some kind of head tracking solution like Track IR. I have no idea how you combat while looking with the mouse.

Had you by any chanced started the jet with dogfight switch in any position other than neutral?
