  1. Sde is noticable on this video When he looks down to the buildings the sde is clearly noticable. Hard to judge from this footage how it is compared to what we have now with rift/vive. Sent from my Redmi 4 using Tapatalk
  2. Well its not about asking for more but if the software is poor and there are showstopper issues it will make the good display useless. Also if it is not comfortable enough that you can use it for 3 hours which is the time that you need to complete fairly complex dcs mission again whats the point of the good display. There are many other thinks that are important for it to be successful like built quality, reliability, lenses for sweet spot and focus etc... Sent from my Redmi 4 using Tapatalk
  3. I would add good tracking as absolute must. Iite weight and comfortability also very important aspect. Sent from my Redmi 4 using Tapatalk
  4. Waiting for Pimax is not a good idea. It might take long time until release and the quality is a big question considering the success of 4k. I would recommend OP to check oddisey as it is already available for order and some dcs users already ordered and promised a review. In any case if you buy rift now you wont regret it for sure. Most of the people who are telling you to wait haven't even used vr and for some reason giving opinions and advices about vr. I met a guy in my new job some months ago who was about to wait for 2nd gen but he never tried 1st. He came to try it and ordered rift, 1080ti and 7700k on the next day :) My advice is listen to people with expirience. Sent from my Redmi 4 using Tapatalk
  5. I regularly do quick practice flights just to keep my knowledge for it. Cold start, shoot some ducks and landing. Same for the a-10. :) Sent from my Redmi 4 using Tapatalk
  6. There a couple of people who stated hardly against it cause it will split the community. Nevermind forget it. I am not banging at anyone and I do agree it is buit in DCS and not TIR. It is just TIR that makes it possible to be used but nevermind forget it, it is what it is. As for the going out of the cockpit in VR is possible, indeed it is. In IL2 they limited this and It kind of work only that it makes you puke and it is not very accurate but if implemented well it is not a bat idea and I am not against it at all. I don't get the reason why you got so pissed just cause I said zoom is unrealistic, well it might workaround a poor visibility or whatever but this doesn't make it realistic. No body asked for removing zoom as an option in dcs or anything, OP just asked for a server with limited FOV. There are server with all kind of limitations, restricted weapons, external views and so on... It even got too much so I am out..
  7. Show me where I said it is much advantageous ? I just said specifically high zoom levels and the way one check six with tir are unrealistic. I find spoting with oculus rift kind of fair. If I know exactly where to look I can spot a bogey against a clear sky at about 25 miles. It becomes interesting against the ground where it is very difficult even at 10-12 miles but still fair considering textures quality of dcs and sde of the rift, here the high zoom of the tir gives some advantage. Identifying is where the big zoom helps a lot but this doesn't matter much in modern aircrafts. As far as I have read in the public forums real pilots could identify a bandit up to around 5 miles depending on many factors like aspect, weather etc.. sometimes it is difficult even at half a mile. It is more or less the same in dcs without zoom no matter monitor or rift. With the high level of zoom however you can identify from 10 miles and more which gives slight advantage but not a big deal at all. For checking 6 there is nothing to say. In general if a pilot irl needs to check six he flies with his right hand and grab a handle in the cockpit with his left to help moving his body and head to check somewhat near 5 or 7 o clock, with vr is a little worst due to the scuba diving mask effect. It is not a big deal at all for me especially considering that public airquakes I join very rarely. I am just up for having some limitations for tir users so they face the same issues with the above as the real pilots and vr users do as this is why we choose DCS mostly, cause we like realism. And I have no idea why people in this thread are so much against having a single vr oriented server. If it has 0 population then it wont hurt them anyhow, if it's popular and vr users actually likes it and having more fun in it then it is necessary. Sent from my Redmi 4 using Tapatalk
  8. Define never, as I am not sure that many people will use TIR in the near future anyway :) Anyway on topic, I would say that there some people interested in a VR oriented server and depending on things like scenario, era, modules used etc.., it might have some popularity or not. I don't see why you care so much not to have one. Sent from my Redmi 4 using Tapatalk
  9. Yes true, this is the point. There are all kinds of servers why not to have one with restricted fov for vr. Sent from my Redmi 4 using Tapatalk
  10. So you are saying that the vr users are not good enough and have to train harder to compensate for the shortcomings because the professionals are no joy without 20x zoom :) Sent from my Redmi 4 using Tapatalk
  11. If you are so good and trained why so big deal to fly without 20x zoom and and with some limitation for turning 180 as real pilots struggling to turn their heads 180 degrees ? Sent from my Redmi 4 using Tapatalk
  12. So you say I am wrong and it is not unrealistic (both binoculars zoom and head turn ) ? Fine this is your opinion, be it. Sent from my Redmi 4 using Tapatalk
  13. It is not about being shot and for me it is not a big deal at all. It is a topic of the discussion and people say their opinions for it. For me having zoom equal to a binoculars is unrealistic feature and it should be limited to a levels when there is some sort of balance. Having the possibility to turn your head 180 backwards is also unrealistic and plays major factor in the simulation. The reason for many formations and tactics is the flight members to be able to cover their 6 each other but a TIR user do not expirience this issue. Sent from my Redmi 4 using Tapatalk
  14. It allows you to exploit camera position by looking 180 degrees backwards without moving your head and at the same time zooming into incoming bandit and flying the aircraft. Try to do this with a binoculars. It is the same reason why external views are disabled on most servers. I don't see how all this is related to flight models and the number of aircrafts... 15. Somehow two threads for the same topic are active currently... But it is not about killing or getting killed. It is not also having and advantage because of a better or more expensive hardware. It is an advantage gained from unrealistic feature which is not equally available for all. For me it is hard to realize why TIR users doesn't want to say that the way they turn back to check six and zoom into the bandit on their tail is unrealistic feature.
  16. Cmon this is offtopic and has nothing to do with removing unrealistic zoom or headmovement which is equally unrealistic for all kind of hardware. Why don't we add labels then on all servers cause some people have smaller screens ? Labels are unrealistic and that's it most of the servers forces them off, the same can be said for zoom level. Going off topic doesn't help much. EDIT: I realize FOV and Zoom are basically same, zooming out is not an issue but zooming in should be limited to some degree. I doubt anyone is flying on smaller than 24 full HD screen or if it is it will be an exception. So limiting the zooming to levels for spoting an aircraft from realistic distances on 24 fullhd monitor Is fair and good for realism in my opinion.
  17. Why for TrackIR users is a problem to not be able to have 20x zoom as it is completely unrealistic ? It is completely unrealistic. Have you seen a airliner flying at cruise altitude or 30000 feet approx 5 miles ? You barely see it as a white dot in the sky and this is with nav and strobe lights on. Now make it 4 times smaller black fighter jet with lights off. In TrackIR you can see the pilot showing you a finger from this distance. Why is such a big deal for TrackIR users to accept that checking 6 like that is completely unrealistic and having some limitations that will make having a bandit on your six more realistic experience is not a bad thing ? Aren't we all aiming for realistic experience and this is why we choose DCS ?
  18. It is more like limiting unrealistic features than limiting a feature because a specific device doesn't has it. But again the more suitable solution IMHO is to have an option to limit a server to VR enabled only. Sent from my Redmi 4 using Tapatalk
  19. The huge zoom and 360 degrees visibility while one barely have to move his head with trackIR is almost equal to labels but labels would be the same for everyone. However the solution would be to have a servers with VR enabled restriction or similar.
  20. For me the most annoying is when you have your hud on nav, you have targets locked in tws mode, when you get close you switch to BVR and the lock is dropped and radar mode back to narrow scan mode. Considering that the radar operation we have is much different then what is the real thing, this looks more like a bug to me.
  21. It is very annoying and I hardly believe this is the case irl but I have no idea.
  22. Are you kidding ? Navigation system, Radios, datalink, countermeasures, weapon employment systems.... its totally not even close to full Fidelity now. Anyway, ED have stated that all FC3 will have AFM not ASM and this will not change. Would be great to have a full Fidelity eagle but if it ever happen it will not be in the near future. 23. I am not pretending being very good at A2A but It's not only a matter of achieving a kill, long range shot is mostly "shoot for effect" or to distract the enemy, make him go defensive, postpone his initial shot, put you on a better position for the merge etc... sneaky tactics are not always applicable (flat terrain with enemy awacs for example) so you have to use what you have to gain as much advantage as you can. Being able to detect the target earlier is always better than no to. On the topic feefifofum covered it perfectly. I am always using predicted target range when awacs gives me bra.
  24. Was that sarcastic ? Really why one would choose DCS if looking for simple and easier flight model ?
  25. I bought them due to limited budget and I regred I did. Complete crap. Very toyish feeling, center is hard to find, and after a month of use the center is a bit off to the right. Not very precise and very narrow pedals. Sent from my Redmi 4 using Tapatalk
