  1. Thanks for the invite! I’m away on work for a couple weeks but if you are still having issues then I’d be happy to help. I do understand your issue is getting cleared contact - it’s just semantics I guess. To get cleared contact, you must already be in pre-contact (which you can get cleared for from anywhere). The pre-contact position, which is where you make the call to get cleared contact, is centered below and behind by a couple fighter lengths. It can get tight with someone already on the hose, but it is very doable with practice! (2 tomcats can get hairy due to size though!)
  2. Where are you positioning yourself for pre-contact? I've not observed any problem whatsoever, in fact the "hit box" seems rather large. The sweet spot is centered on the centreline of the tanker, below and behind. I've seen a lot of people online struggling to get cleared contact because they try and position behind the drogue for pre-contact - In DCS, even the probe and drogue tankers, pre contact is centred on the tanker, below and behind. Then you move up to the hose. For your second observation, I haven't seen it but I run a dedicated server. The third question, because of where pre-contact is (as I've mentioned above), it's fairly easy to sequence through. Form up on the left wing, and one at a time you slide back and down into pre-contact, get cleared contact, then move to the hose. The next guy rolls into pre-contact, gets cleared, goes to the other hose. When the first guy is done, he moves to the right wing, and the next guy comes off the left wing into pre-contact, gets cleared, and goes to the free hose.
  3. Question out of curiosity: Is it half of the missile's maximum range, or is it half of the distance the missile is actually fired at? I only ask because, for example, firing a phoenix at 35NM could theoretically be considered at half the range already - thereby leading the AI to react instantly. I suspect it's half the range the missile is fired at, as I've not observed myself AI reacting to long range Phoenix or AMRAAM shots until the missile goes active.
  4. I've noticed it. You can maintain a track file in TWS, but as soon as you try and go to STT, the lock drops within a second or two at distance, and not until within 30 miles or so can it hold the lock. I was wondering if it was a rudimentary implementation of jamming...?
  5. Your other option is to use the "options" command to bring up the menu (if you've enabled this in settings), then use Take 1-12 to choose your options. So, Options, Take 10 (brings up F10 menu), take 1 to choose F1 for example.
  6. The one where he's passed out on autopilot? He's supposed to get shot down, it's part of the storyline!
  7. Sorry, no luck. I tried it both in /saved games/dcs.openbeta and in program files/eagle dynamics/dcs.openbeta. Also just updated to the 2004 edition of Windows (May update), bug is still present :(
  8. Concur. I can fly a steady center ball, very stable approach to a 2, 3, or 4 wire, but the ball always rises at the last second, necessitating a power reduction. Always get - - - /EGIW. OTOH I can fly a very ugly, unstable, low approach and get an __OK__ Seems grading isn’t perfect yet.
  9. Gotcha, will try tonight.
  10. You want me to put that WHERE?? Haha, joking aside, I don't have that folder from what I can tell... A search for it turned up nothing, as did a search for the filename itself.
  11. Oh, there’s a new one? On it!
  12. This, so many times this! It seems to be a common sentiment amongst those of us who fly for a living. Perhaps it’s also an ego thing, there are a (very small vocal) minority of players on here who seem to think you aren’t worthwhile if you can’t do it. I fly military aircraft for a living, so BIT testing MAWS systems, hydraulic and light checks, all of that are the norm for me, I don’t need to prove to myself or anyone else that I can do it because I’ve already convinced the RCAF that I can! I just play DCS for fun, and like the realistic FMs and weapons employment. I play it to do stuff I don’t get to do (very often at least) in real life.
  13. First of all, I have been looking forward to this campaign for years (has it been about 2 years since it was announced? Well that's how long I've been looking forward to this!) Great work by Baltic Dragon and all the others who helped. Though I've found myself frustrated and critical (in some posts even), it was largely stuff that's out of your control. You guys really did make magic with this campaign. I echo pretty much everything JMarso has said about it - the good, bad and ugly, I agree with it all. (except the need to AAR - since I can do it, I love it! Hooking up with 300lbs one mission was epic and very faithful to the book, though I understand it's not for everyone). There were also a few omissions in kneeboards, missing or incorrect code words that did cause some confusion, but no biggie - I'm sure they'll get fixed. Sadly I think it will still be my last scripted DLC campaign. While BD and the others did everything I think possible to make it as immersive and realistic as possible, DCS just doesn't lend itself well to scripted campaigns. I found myself too often making decisions based on what I think would not break the campaign scripting, rather than what I would realistically do. Still, as far as scripted campaigns go, this one is the best I've played - by far. Nice work guys! PS - I say it will be my last... probably until BD and Kevin Miller team up again and Fight Fight comes out on the new Marianas map, then I'll change my mind right quick I'm sure!
  14. I was hoping for a bit more of an epic knife fight with Hariri, but after dodging his radar guided missiles I instinctively popped off an AIM-9 at him, not entirely sure it was him in the heat of the moment. Oh well, that's war! I'm curious, I only got 80 for my score on that mission. I completed AAR and landed at the end of it. Is it because Weed got shot down? Just curious what needs to be done to get 100!
  15.:mad::mad: Just found this myself. It must have been during the autostart. Probably (yet another) DCS limitation, but with weight on wheels, the radar isn't energized anyway. So it shouldn't matter if it's in the OPR position temporarily during start up or not. Is it possible to amend the trigger such that, if the radar is in OPR after takeoff, then the trigger is met?
  16. I seem to be having similar problems. I get alot of crashes on the select role in MP servers. I also had a crash in the middle of a Raven One mission yesterday which was out of character, just as I slewed my pod onto a Kilo class sub the game crashed. Ran the mission again and it didn't replicate... So, focusing on the crashes on select role, here's my log files (extensions changed to .txt to allow uploading). I see alot of out of memory errors, though I have 32GB of RAM, a 32GB page file, and 11GB of VRAM in my 1080Ti... dcs.log dcs.20200906-220549.txt dcs.20200907-153116.txt dcs.log.old.txt
  17. In the forum post for Frenchy’s mod, it says it does not pass IC. Please bump this, we need the ability to see under the goggles in VR without an IC breaking mod. Trying to fly Raven One missions on NVG, while looking at the radar/pod, means doing the on/off dance. Not only is it a PITA, but it’s unrealistic! And for someone with hundreds of hours flying helicopters on NVG, it’s driving me nuts lol. I keep trying to look under my Oculus to see the gauges
  18. Touche!
  19. Looks that way, I don’t see how it could be related to your mission. I was able to simply use the F10 menu to make the rejoin.
  20. Ah, may have found out how to change the Hornet format to DD MM SS.SS! Starts at 33sec. Before seeing this I thought precise only accepted DD MM.MMMM - colour me schooled.
  21. I know what the issue is. The coordinates given to us by the JTACs in all of the missions are in DD MM SS, where the hornet's nav system only accepts DD MM.MM So if you are given 25-53-59, that's 25 degrees, 53 minutes, 59 seconds. You need to convert 59 seconds into decimal minutes. Since there are 60 seconds in a minute, it becomes 25 53.98 or something close to that (you can convert it mathematically or via a converter but I'm doing it in my head) It's a bigger problem in Mission 11, where you're hitting the hawk sites. He gives you precise coords in DD MM SS.S, but there's no way to input it into the UFC. Edit: though I think for JDAM/JSOW preplanned you can enter DD MM SS.SS... you just can’t swing your pod onto it to be sure what you are dropping on. Edit 2: I do seem to remember, at one time, you would enter coordinates as DD MM SS and it would appear, converted, in DD MM.MM on the DDI. However, they now seem to appear on the DDI as entered in DD MM.MM without conversion. I may need to do some testing...
  22. Roger, understood that. It's Cajun's directions that lead to confusion; he tells the flight (which would include you) to go drop visually. That's the piece I feel like should be clarified.
  23. Question about the JDAM drop. So, Cajun instructs the flight to drop "visually." IIRC, in the book, it's implied because the JDAM GPS is sour, they go in and drop in CCIP. I had to pause the mission and sit there scratching my head for a few minutes, wondering - can I even do that in DCS? Is there even a way to drop JDAM in CCIP in DCS? I think the answer is no... Thankfully, and no doubt by design to get around this, the "middle" targets were the ones I had already entered into my preplanned targets. So I just dropped in auto mode and let the JDAMs do their thing, and all worked well. I guess the question, though: Can we do CCIP drop of JDAM? If not, maybe the instructions could have been a bit clearer? (ie "flip, do a standard drop since yours are working, everyone else follow me for a visual drop...") In the same vein, in the mission briefing, it says to "check your targets with the FLIR before you drop." Is this possible with preplanned JDAM targets? Is there a way to slew the pod to the preplanned target? The only way I can think of is creating a waypoint at each target point, using waypoint designate to slew the pod and drop in TOO mode. Thoughts?
  24. Yes! I just started mission 10, and am now facing the prospect of having no idea who to rejoin with because the IDs in SA page aren't working. Exactly why I came on the forums just now was to see if I was alone (or doing something wrong)... Apparently not.
  25. No mods, I will check if it’s as admin, good call! Edit: Nope, didn't help. Every time I run the server I have to reset the name of the observer and change the pause settings. The name has always been an issue, the pause settings problem is new...
