  1. Early access is the right term. The problem is the expectation of the user. The very word early indicates something else will happen "later". If you aren't considering what that might be... you've got nothing to complain about when you realize it is the fact it will be done... later...
  2. I'd go with a KA50 though...
  3. I seem to recall it was stated that the FCR "might" come later. "agreed, but that radar system it's modes, and the missiles, are all "new" to DCS, are quite complex, and so it's probable that it'll take many working hours" Exactly... which is why 1 MILLION people need to buy it... So that development gets funded to finish it
  4. "I usually disable the pitch autopilot before trimming." I don't think it makes sense to do that.
  5. Oh this is SUPER good news :).
  6. I've rebuilt the stick a couple times but not the throttle :(... Biggest problem I've had with the rotaries is that the lower one seems to have lost it's detent... Like when I press it it just activates with no movement at all.
  7. I just adjusted my curves (took a bit) to get it to be at full mil when the throttle is inthe detent, then to AB when moved past the detent...
  8. The mode buttons as in the slider or the force setting buttons?? that sounds like it would be pretty nice to have the mode slider usable because I do all my settings in DCS and not the stick... until I consider the Apache :)... We'll likely need all four modes fully programmed for that I think :).
  9. It works great for me :). I don't understand why it needs to be changed? What is the actual problem you experience? Are you pressing the trim and releasing it like a "click"? Are you holding the trim while moving the controls, then releasing the trim?
  10. If you have any interest in Heli's then the KA50 is a no brainer for sure. It is phenomenal and designed from the ground up to be deployed by a single person.
  11. And include a track where you move the throttle from idle to burn quickly... Just in case they need that too...
  12. But you still need to carry it
  13. I mean... I feel for you... You're right it shouldn't break the "moment" of the launch... that's a bit suspect. They should start a timer when you launch (if AI is aware of you) and they should break maybe between .5 and 1.5 seconds after launch??? But they shouldn't act like a noob human player ;)... As far as random Crazy Ivan's... Nah. Energy is too valuable friend :). I'd rather break a little later than break too many times.
  14. @Ramsay Yeah... PC have said they have a new FM that's the bee's knees... I hope it is... For sure... I'll hold off until I hear from others. As far as any "issues" with the DCS model... Yeah I mean nothing is perfect for sure, and I'm not sure anyone here said it was either perfect or the best ever made... Maybe... but I don't recall. The important bit though is that the flight model feel right to 98% of people. If you have to go looking for problems in a scientific way after confirming that it feels right... Well... Feel free but I don't care that much. Certainly worthy of an acknowledgement and of effort put in to correct... but if you have to hunt for the problem then it's not a big deal. By definition that means it feels right 99% of the time. Yes... I like it to be 100%... don't get me wrong... but trying to say that you'd rather have PC's new model over a release from ED is a HUGE leap of faith based on hype about PC's new FM IMO... Let us know if it's good when it releases :).
  15. Well... And please keep in mind that the Shark is my favorite flight sim toy of all time. I think well thought out, pointed, and data driven criticism is always of benefit :). But yeah... The current state of DCS rotary wing FM is pretty damn good if you ask me. Also... To Ramsay... I'm not sure how you could possibly be more excited about a release from PC than from DCS. If PC makes some VERY significant improvement then sure... but if not... No from me. And that's a damn shame because it's HIGHLY unlikely that if PC eff's up the Kiowa (like they have with the gazelle) that anyone will ever create another. So we'll just be stuck with a bad Kiowa. The Kiowa... When mixed with a good APache... could be the most fun available in DCS. I'm excited for that possibility... but I'm quite skeptical of that turning into reality. I do wish them luck. Honestly... I'm not even super concerned that it "matches" all the numbers if they get close... It just needs to feel like a helicopter.
  16. I suspect this is reasonable close to what would happen IRL. Given good weather and all that anyhow... I mean.. If you've already been detected then you can bet that whoever their team's best missile spotter is will be keeping an eagle eye on you. Maybe even with binoculars... So I don't think that within 30 miles, in a situation where you're already known... you have ANY expectation of a surprise launch at all. Inclement weather? Sure. More range? Sure... and that one is subjective. I'm sure there are pilots without perfect vision :). I think the whole game changes when you're actually in a situation where the thing that someone launches can ACTUALLY kill you. You're going to take whatever steps necessary to be sure you know it's a threat immediately. Maybe I'm wrong.. that's fine... but I feel like if I were up there looking at a known Phoenix launch capable fighter... I'd be keeping a VERY close eye on the ****er...
  17. Close DCS, unplug/replug headset USB, start DCS and see if it continues. If so... Make sure reprojection is always on.
  18. Mods... I feel like this should be moved to wish list :). You might also move the request to not move this to the wish list to the wish list???
  19. That's fairly close to what I've done with my X65F.
  20. Thanks folks :). Great thread. That vid with the longbow sound track a couple posts up... Super nice. Yeah c0ff... Do it up friend :). Just like that :).
  21. Start holding trim when you maneuver Reticuli, then let the airframe "settle" in the new attitude, release trim and release the controls (at least the controls required... based on whether you have rudder trim on). From a few statements you've made it sounds like you aren't doing that. Also... When NOT doing that... and when the channels are ON... It absolutely WILL fight you, up to a 20% control authority, to maintain the last trimmed attitude. I don't recall whether or not it "releases" when you overcome that 20%, or if, now that it has absorbed your 20% control input, that it will then just gradually add input. It's been a while since I've flown the shark but I have hundreds of hours in it. At least. When heading hold is NOT on... It won't fight you at all... but the shark's rudder just doesn't have a lot of authority. It's pretty weak. The shark is a great sniper with cannon or vikhr... But it's also quite maneuverable like an attack PLANE (think warthog/harrier etc) with movement. Super deadly when used that way. Vikhr to get rid of the primary AA threats... Then get in there and go to town in an all out aerobatic WTF mode banzai :). Most people don't do it that way :)... but it's more fun so I do :). Sometimes a BMP gets enough rounds on me though :). Inverted cannon fire while slaving to the HMS is effing brilliant :). Also... Always disable altitude hold. Always. It will kill you. Also... regarding the statement above about the real pilots tapping trim... I don't think that's the case. I know... Hear me out :)... I think that the sound we're hearing has opposite polarity compared to what we assume. I think they're "untapping" so to speak :). I think they're actually holding it in... but then doing a release-press instead of a press-release :). Just MHO of course... we'll likely never actually know.
  22. It is. try the Shark in VR...
  23. Not trying to stir the pot exactly... I can AAR just fine myself... but there are many people with disabilities of whatever type (not saying this is the case for the OP...) that could make this difficult. Even just concentration deficits. My point is just that I don't feel we should be exclusive as a community... and especially we shouldn't try to be a bunch of stuck up little B*****s because we can do something someone else can't. Try being nice folks. It makes for a better world. Regarding implementation... Yeah I'd do it for the least amount of time investment possible. I'd make it an option you can enable where if you make contact you immediately have full tanks.
  24. Well... There's a lot at play here. First is that the F/A-18 isn't finished... so it very well might have super good training missions when it's finished. I'm not sure. I don't watch the to-do list like a hawk :). Also... the AV8 isn't made by Eagle Dynamics... So you have different companies with different priorities and stuff as well. Also... Take a look at the JF-17... As I recall there are some VERY well done training missions for that. they may be done by the community but I can't recall.
  25. I just want to open a spare browser, set it to that section and just leave it open... Thanks in advance :).
