  1. Yep, you're right, we're all doing it wrong, you seem to be the only one who know's what he's doing  The resolution isn't good enough, period.
  2. I also was indifferent to it, but I've been flying it a lot lately and it's fantastic. Can't wait for the updates.
  3. I wouldn't count on CV1 to be good enough to really use for combat. Many of us have gone back and forth between using the TIR and a DK2, it's a seamless transistion.
  4. I've also noticed lately it seems to take an unreasonable amount of left stick to keep her level but haven't really looked into it.
  5. CPU helps a lot with DCS, especially upgrading from an old Core 2. With the same GPU I upgraded from a QX9650@ 3.6GHz to my 4790k @4.6GHz and saw a huge increase in FPS.
  6. It does have differential brakes, the rudder is definitely not enough to steer the plane at low speeds. The brakes are applied to each side independently when you apply rudder and pull the brake lever. There's even a gauge in the cockpit that will show you how much pressure you're applying to each brake cylinder.
  7. I think he means in the traditional sense where you have an independent brake pedal for each side. FWIW I've never once run out of air in the 21, and I've tried, are we sure that's even modeled?
  8. GTX 760. I want a 970 but I'm just gonna wait for the next gen cards. My frames average 35-50 with all the monitors, totally playable. With just a main monitor and the MFD monitor I was pegged at 60FPS most of the the time.
  9. Looks like HDR is on.
  10. I built this rig a couple months ago and thought I'd share. It's basically just 2x4's and plywood construction. The chair is an adirondack type with a foam pad on it. I would like to eventually replace it with some kind of vehicle seat. The stick mount is a piece of machined steel welded to a pipe which is mounted to a piece of plywood laying on the floor, the rudder pedals are also mounted to the same piece. The Derek Speare Button box adds a good bit of universal functionality to all the modules. The monitors are 3 27" BenQ 1080p's, the MFD monitor is just an old Acer 21.5" 1080p. The triple monitor immersion is fantastic, should have done this a long time ago. So yeah it doesn't look anything like an actual cockpit but the comfort and immersion is fantastic, I don't know how anyone plays with a HOTAS sitting on a desk. The chair and "desk" also didn't cost much and was very simple to construct.
  11. I can't remember the exact settings but make sure the tree/clutter radius stuff is also set pretty low. My DK2 runs a consistent 75+FPS with my GTX 760 with med visibility and high textures.
  12. Something is wrong if you need to have it that close. I've had no problem using it like 5 feet away. What's most important is having it up high enough, at least with the standard hat clip. If you don't, the camera will see two of the reflectors crossing each other when you're looking up and turning your head side to side and you'll lose tracking. Also if it's too close you will lose some of your 6 DOF because you'll be moving out of it's field of view, the farther away it is the larger the area you have to move around in.
  13. My typical loadout anymore consists of 2 AGM-65Gs, 3 GBU-12s, 2 GBU-38s and maybe a rocket pod. I rarely take AIM-9s or the ECM pod, I really don't like anything outboard of the TGP, you get a good bit more visibility out that side without masking. I also typically download the fuel quite a bit as well, it's so much nicer to fly with the weight well under max take off. Substitute some bombs for CBU-97/105s depending on the targets.
  14. You should be able to directly map the HOTAS functions in TIR.
  15. Sure sounds like you mistakenly loaded TGMs.
  16. You can use Steam modules with the standalone version, you can't do it the other way around. Again there's no benefit.
  17. As someone who started with the Steam version and switched to the standalone version, there's no benefit to using the steam version.
  18. It's greatly personal preference and equipment dependent. I have a 3" extension on my WH and have gotten away from using curves, however I still use some curve on the rudder pedals because I find them to be extremely sensitive without it.
  19. If the AWACS is Russian is should be in KM for distance and meters for altitude.
  20. Have you played with the curve/saturation? The default settings are horrendous.
  21. ALT hold is used to hold yourself in a bank, Path hold is to hold yourself in a climb or descent. You've got their functions backwards.
  22. I've found synchronization to be quite finicky, in my case the A-10 works fine but all other modules start with the throttles fully forward and the stick full forward/left until I move them. You can imagine how frustrating this is with a hot start helicopter or an air start in a plane. Instead for the A-10 I leave the throttles forward, once I'm the cockpit I move them both into cut-off, they're then ready to go when I reach that point in the starting procedure.

    What's wrong?

Isn't space for shooting the cannon? You need to use the weapon release key.
  24. Yes but we can already do that with the Huey and Mi-8 so I don't see what the big deal is until it actually supports two players.
