  1. Hi Miles. I tried to PM you but its saying you need to clear out some space! Great Pic BTW! Glad to hear everyone survived! When you mentioned warm beer I thought you were going to have a pop at our lovely beverages!!! :D
  2. Great news Miles! Ah yes, that would be Catterick. Now home to our Para's as Aldershot has now been assigned to the annuals of military history. Good job on the para wings (and a survivor of "P" company to boot!) I have a work mate who was in the Para's, what year did you do it?
  3. LOL, I actually had scribbled down HMS as a possible but thought it might be a bit too associated with our Royal Navy... and as our Navy *cough* doesn't actually have any planes for its aircraft carrier yet might come across as a little ironic for a flight sim! :D
  4. Sorry Miles, can't take the credit for that one, I think that must have been someone else! As far as names goe however... Hmmm thats a toughie! You don't want anything too like HMD - Head Mounted Display - to avoid confusion with the VR headsets. (VR HMD) If I understand things correctly the item itself is an infra red camera sensor? So you could try something like MIRS : Mounted Infra Red Sensor. Or just MIR - Mounted Infra Red. Alternatively, as it is something that will go onto a HMD you could turn it around a bit and call it a DMS - Display Mounted Sensor. If I've totally got it wrong as to what it actually is, apologies and I shall think on some more. :)
  5. That sounds great, keep up the good work!
  6. I am really quite dismayed to have read some of the recent posts in relation to what was said by one forum member to another. I would respectfully ask that both parties directly invloved resolve this by PM rather than put it out here for all to start adding to. I wouild also ask that other forum members stop "stoking the fire" on this topic and let the two gentlemen resolve this prior to any further public statements. Thankyou.
  7. Hey Miles, thats looking great! Glad to help!
  8. Just a couple of thoughts while I'm in a sleep deprived stupor...kreeping in the spirit of your thoughts on "using the finger". :) 1:Digit Selectible Device (DSD) 2: Digit Controlled Device (DCD) 3: Digit-All FCU (Fingertip Control Unit) 4: FCU (as above) If considered rubbish please feel free to ignore!
  9. Hi Terry, Just wanted to say a quick thankyou for this. I read the thread this morning and promptly ordered through an online service the parts to be made. ( Can't the internet be a great place sometimes!!!). Hopefully I will have them delivered sometime in the next week. Do you have any way of excepting payments/donations? As I would like to show my support for those, like you, who help make my hobby so much more enjoyable by creating things like this.
  10. Looks very promising, many thanks for posting the vid and have a good trip!
  11. This sounds a very interesting way of interacting with the cockpit, but I'm wondering how this will actually work. Does it mean to get full fuctionality of the cockpit you would need at least 3 of these - Left, Centre, Right? Or can you just use one of the panels to select any side? I understand that this is an optional extra and the finger senses will work on their own, but would be interested in seeing this additonal option in action.
  12. Something I would definitely be interested in. If you can ship to the UK..."I'm in!" Good luck with the development.
  13. Or rather, its going to be in the low detail area. You can still fly over the area, its just not going to have any detail to it. (Well that's my understanding of it)
  14. I read it like that first off, but I think he means spawning at the position where you would start the engines, not spawning with the engines started.
  15. Thank you! Excellent reminder. I had indeed been suffering from this issue. (Along with my teamspeak playing up because of overwritten files). Sometimes its easy to forget these little gems! :)
  16. Thanks, but are the missions in English? Or is it just a mission file without any text overlays? Cheers.
  17. Actually I think you will find the huge size is due to the new logo, everyone knows that yellow is a huge memory sink. :pilotfly:
  18. ...and its awesome! :D
  19. @imacken. I don't doubt there are some major (and minor) issues that need addressing. My post was merely pointing out that, like in most things in life, there are two sides to every story. Some posts prior to mine were practically calling for a lynch mob due to the release of 2.5 in its current state. I was just giving my personal opinion that my experience has been pretty good. Yeah I know, lucky me!
  20. Sorry, that may have been his point but saying "users that want to break it on purpose and those that break it from lack of knowledge." does not come across in his text. Clearly you both come from the programming side of things and not public relations...
  21. Oh I get it, its our fault...nice.
  22. I would have to agree about the lack of right click, its just, well, odd that they took the time to implement all the other features, assigned buttons to some "nice to have" rahter than "need to have" options and left off the right click. I had hoped to see a quick fix for this but still we wait. I'm getting round it by using the on screen cursor with right mouse function being mapped to my joystick.
  23. I feel you're pain, but to be fair to ED and personally speaking I haven't seen many of the issues you mention. I fly in VR and have now managed to get my setting so it flies smoothly (most of the time) and looks quite stunning. I am very pleased with how things are progressing and the fun I get out of this sim far outweighs its frustrations, for me at least. Keep the faith!
  24. Good to hear and I do appreciate all their efforts. Someone mentioned earlier that other modules can not be updated until ED release a main patch, is that correct? (In other words, will we have to wait until these larger problems are fixed before we can expect any other modules to get fixes or updates?). Thanks.
