  1. Yeah the outboards on the AV8 are mostly reserved for sidewinders, I think there's an armament list for earlier models showing its possible to carry a Mk82 there as well though. I don't think the gunpods interfere with the centreline TGP, these are plus harriers but it should be the same idea. Front one has guns removed, back one has them still.
  2. iirc initially they had to carry the TGP on wing pylons, losing a weapon station, and later it became possible to mount it under the centerline.
  3. Pit looks very nice. You mentioned a while ago that you guys were aiming for some sort of access in Q1, is it still somewhat within the ballpark on that or will it go further beyond that? I'm afraid somebody has to ask :)
  4. Su17/22 just seems more sensible. An extremely widespread machine, fast SEAD capable with an exceptionally wide arsenal of both guided and unguided munitions. Su24M would be great as well, but way more work, less accesible in the real world, and just seems less flexible and less suited to the game environment.
  5. Isn't the box on top of the nose the FLIR, and the camera in the tip the ARBS TV sight/laser tracker?
  6. This better become a full module at some point, it's easily on track to be on par with other modules from the looks of it.
  7. Doesn't maverick seeker range heavily depend on the terrain/contrast of its targets?
  8. Thanks for the explanation. I don't know how often you had to deal with stuff like this, but this must have added quite some time to developing its systems.
  9. What's all this complaining about the 21 anyway?
  10. The HUD only does the jittering for me when the impulse/series selector is set to impulse, at least for a specific distance. If its further or closer it gives a steady calculation. I can't tell any difference in functionality though. Does the diagram show anything like this? That the system bypasses the QFE input depending on whether radar ranging is on?
  11. Yeah that's the main thing. If it has all the data it needs to produce an accurate firing solution from the radar and other internal systems, why would it insist on taking into account the manual QFE as well? Especially when that can easily make for obviously wrong firing solutions when the QFE gives information that is clearly incorrect based on information from the aircrafts own measurements. I suppose that the only way to use these weapons without accurate QFE is to disable the system entirely and use the fixed sight then. Makes sense in real life I'm sure, but its a bit of a problem for accurate targeting in DCS MP. Maybe we need to get all mission makes to provide QFE information for all targets in the briefing.
  12. Is there a particular reason it is not be able to range properly with just the radar?
  13. Well, it seems to be accurate without changing anything about QFE at sea level.
  14. So I understand the deal with setting the QFE, but against targets of opportunity I don't really see it as viable to get a sufficiently accurate setting in the short time you have to engage these in a combat zone Now I assumed that radar ranging is the solution for this, as this is what the manual says about it. 'Radar ranging is indicated by the “fin” appearing in the HUD. The radar will range to the spot that the sight reticule (dot) is aiming at. As the radar will determine the more or less the exact distance to the aiming point, far more accurate sight calculations (particularly against inclined ground) are yielded. Radar ranging is thereby preferable than triangulation due to this increased accuracy.' Though still my rockets/guns end up significantly off target when I, as far as I can tell, am using this mode. I guess the question is, does targeting still rely on QFE despite using radar ranging? Shouldn't it have all the information it needs from solely the radar data in order to make a fully accurate aiming fix? Or, quite likely, am I not setting things properly?
  15. Anybody have an idea what, if anything, changed about visibility in .6? I haven't noticed anything while practicing the Viggen.
  16. Most likely GR7/9 would be at some point before the AV8b+, though there was also a lack of information on some of the GR systems so I don't think there's a hard schedule on any of these subsequent variants. It's also unknown where any additional harrier variants stand in relation to the other projects.
  17. Sure, but there probably is some story on their use with Corsairs as per the above pictures. Even if it just relates to testing, it would be interesting to know regardless. http://s213.photobucket.com/user/ikar_photos/media/ikar_photos%202/scan0100.jpg.html another what looks like a SUU23 on a Corsair.
  18. Need some more A7 content, the A6 one is overly active compared to this one. Using Skipper, Walleye, rockeye and some LGBs. Some very nice footage from the Walleye's PoV especially Mostly the same, but with commentary and some stuff on the computer and HUD operation. Some gun pods, GPU5 and SUU23(?). Unclear if these were actually ever used or just tested, especially in the case of the GPU5. There were some more images of the SUU23 though, but I imagine it was not common.
  19. Early renders of iirc an A6E TRAM were posted quite some time ago. Though it's no doubt a long term thing both in the sense that like 3 projects at least are in front of it, and the unknown state of ED ground radar that it needs.
  20. Considering Prowler mentioned being under NDA with regard to the radar, ED is probably sharing at least info on its progress with the other devs. Maybe even allowing them some looks at the tech and discussing what is needed. It would make sense to keep them updated considering a number of projects are dependent on it.
  21. As far as I can tell, Shrike/HARM for the E and AGM65 for the D were the major differences? Aside from a change in the position of some cockpit instruments.
  22. The A7 has been 'announced' and known to be in some stage of development for ages, somebody just took an in-engine picture of it and thought it was cool enough to share. I enjoy seeing such content from developers, no matter if its almost done or still years away.
  23. What were the optics used by the PAH anyway? I searched for it a while ago but couldn't even find the name of it.
  24. Oh, so the announcement of the release date was the big news?
