  1. Having used the x55 for roughly 6 months, doing my own stick extension out of brass tube, making the twist axis a switch and adding a switch to the left side of the stick that connects to twist axis. Setup as bands. I'm getting somewhat pleased with it. I still have a few things I need to fix. The mouse nipple sucks, I will replace it with a PSP thumbstick if I can, 5 axis buttons if I can't. It really needs some kind of filtering in the axis, they are jumpy when viewed in DIView, I suspect the pots in the throttle are inferior, might go to a Hall setup or try a cap in between input and I only experience BSOD if I setup a command that is latched and try to test it in the HUD software. I have acquired a 3d Printer, so I might try remaking some of the buttons on the throttle and maybe the POV.
  2. I use a R9 209X card too. I see full load ingame on the GPU in 1.5. Abysmal in 1.2. I still need to tweak a bit of options but the card is solid as a rock on water.
  3. This is why I'm leaning towards the Vive. Imagine having the gloves on and playing the ASM airframes. Fingering buttons, switches and all that. You would probably need some kind of disabling method for the gloves, so if taking a break from the controls for a drink or something, you don't accidentally launch a missile on someone.
  4. It works on all planes bar the A-10C. They are analogue in nature, which really can be a problem. I expected it to do full or no speedbrake depending on which way the lever is going, but I just get a short blip on the brakes either way. Might have to fiddle with timing to do full brake deployment, but all other crafts work perfectly. By the way, I have made multiple advanced commands for the A-10C, like shift states and so forth. I even added 2 buttons by using the Twist axis and a switch. It will void warranty, but it's oh so satisfying to have Cannon in Ka-50 by the flick of a switch. Keep in mind you'll have to make some double inputs too.
  5. I will be a customer of this product too.
  6. So.. I can use DDS files instead of bmp and tga? That was an optimisation in a farming Sim game I play. DDS loads faster and can be transparent too..
  7. They would not have a return to center, but I think you could make your own cam profile to make some holding capacity. I don't use them with any form of lock when flying Helo flight. Godsend in the Huey and Mi-8, Shark not so much, due to stability augmentation or Autopilot.
  8. I never use Ground power in the Shark. I can start her up in less time and be flying, than it takes for the HUD to show.
  9. I have the MFG Crosswind. Love them to death. You can disable centering by clipping off the spring in 2 seconds for Helo operations. Fully adjustable. Cannot recommend them enough.
  10. Hey, did you try setting the H2 hat as buttons? I can set any button combo with that. And even advanced commands.
  11. Hmm, I'm getting the same problem regardless of choice with language selection. Abris is still russian. I don't mind Almaz being in Russian, but the ABRIS is really hard to do from memory. Only mod I'm using is Ricardo's HD cockpit in English, I'll try disabling that and see what I find.. Edit, It's not under Special, but gameplay. Silly me..
  12. I also use Opentrack 2.3 rc18 on 1.5. Added a bit of smoothing to the axes, and I am very pleased with it..
  13. I have a tube of Dupont Teflon grease for and sticking joystick partsparts. Highly recommend it to anyone who wants to grease anything that moves. I use it for Airsoft gearbox treatment and my x55 stick. Doesn't attack plastic.
  14. If you really want to drop bombs on anything, read page 201 and 202 of the manual for instructions on the PKV sight bombing. There is a large table for height, speed and delay. Quite the art form to get done. Oh, and there are no delay fuse implemented yet.
  15. I see no problems with constructive feedback, but as Skipper so says: We are lucky to have it and not flop around in FSX with no combat. Development takes time, the features of the airframes we fly are set by the Developers, not the community, even though they listen to us. But with all the ranting in various threads about missing features. I wonder how developers put up with this kind of written abuse and keep forging on? If they announce a feature, people want another feature. Nobody forces anybody to buy anything. You don't like it? Don't buy it. Just stop ranting and raving about what it SHOULD do instead of what it CAN do. Ka-50 is an AG platform, but can kill air threats with the Vikr. Just learn to fly it good. I have seen it done first hand, but have yet to develop the skill needed to do so. The Mig21 is a capable Tactical bomber, but was not meant to do AG missions as a primary role. A10C vise versa. Trying to kill a Fighter jet with a Helo is hard and should be.. There is no such thing as a level playing field.
  16. Update: I extended the stick even further, it almost holds it's own position bar near the center. Have to play around with the springs. Removed the static voltage divider from the twist action. And added the Twist axis back into the stick with a quality pot from Leo Bodnar and a LEGO rubber wheel, so now I have even more trim wheels or what ever I wish to do with it.. Bands are a good thing as it gives me 2 extra buttons on the stick. Planning on using a PSP joystick for the mouse nipple..

    New map

Barring the creation of maps by anybody not being a partner, what is the maximum map size DCS can handle? Infinite to the point of chugging along at 2 FPS with 64 GB RAM or is there another limit that the engine itself is has? Just so we have a rough estimate..
  18. Everybody needs a box, for shipping. And the occasional cat. :-) I didn't realize that I would make a storm with the box. Anyways.. The products look beautiful and I cannot wait to get a few grips. Most likely I need to do something else in the connection department as I have made a brass extension of the X55 stick I have now. Not the best weight wise, but it sure works and it's very solid.
  19. I had to go with dynamic campaigns. The catch 22 is if this folds over into multiplayer. I for one would like to see it being a dynamic multiplayer experience. The maps can come as 3rd party plug-ins. There's a very promising project under way in the mods and apps section. Modules takes the time it takes. But the core game is still a little off in the features.
  20. There is a mod for jtac and awacs for the Shark. It should be adaptable to the mi8 with a little modding. I have time to play with it Tuesday night..
  21. I use Opentrack 2.3rc18 on win 10, homemade 3 point cap. A bit of axis adjust and Bob's your uncle..
  22. You have DCS Bios or Ultra MFCD, I have no idea on if the two are compatible with each other.
  23. Still waiting for the release of either the Rift or the HTC Vive. Right now I am on a 2008 37" 1080p TV. With a homebrew head tracker and a Franken pit. When the different HMD devices get out, I will read all the reviews and make a decision. There's no place to have for a triple screen nor a projector setup.
  24. Can I chime in here? If you really desire mag switches, why not use modified 5 volt relays? A pin on top of the relay with a 45° cut off from the underside working against the spring. In its off state, the relay uses no current and so will be easy to implement. I will conjure up a sketch of it later today.
  25. I would recommend using plain cardboard boxes. It might look nice and clean in a custom made box with inscription and all that. But I for one really like the fact of minimal waste of resources. I'm by no means a eco hippie freak. But you can save on the cardboard packaging and use the money for either cheaper products or better components for the same price. Some of the best quality items that I own have been in plain cardboard boxes. Including MFG pedals, most of my tools.
