DLSS is trained on a supercomputer by NVidia per game engine. I would prefer for DCS a solution where the central view area is rendered in a higher resolution than the outer view areas. 3x3: render 8 fields in performance resolution and only render the middle field in full resolution. That would be a huge performance gain with still a very good image quality (sweet spot ...) in VR. Perhaps even an overall better image quality, because you gain performance in the peripherie to be spend where it really counts. I can imagine a test implementation where you render the image first in the lower quality and in a second run only the central view area in the higher resolution.

Why not just connect the pedals without the thrustmaster software. Works perfectly for me.

If I want to do some aerobatics or just fly for the fun of it I set my SteamVR to 60% Render Resolution and enjoy 90 FPS awsomeness. If anybody laughs at that resolution think twice. We are not talking about a Rift S like 1280 × 1440 resolution. 60% rendering is still 1712 x 1672 in the HP Reverb. And the Advanced Supersample Filtering in SteamVR works nice at subsampling too. Perhaps they already tweak the software for the G2 release, I can not help the feeling that subsampling looks much better than in the past. If you fly in a HP Reverb and never tried 60%, 70% or 80% Resolution, I heartily recommend give it a try and enjoy the full 90hz of your HMD now.

At least the hope for some competition in the GPU market is in any case delightful :-)

My roman friend Biggus Dickus would buy Biggest Navi as well!

And in the worst case I will snatch Nvidias answer to AMDs attack in a few months. :-) Nvidia, I will not forget the frivol price increase from 1080ti to 2080ti ;-)

After watching the Nvidia launch and the infos available on the next AMD GPUs for consoles there are two (related) details that will stop me from buying a Nvidia offer at launch this time. Nvidia increases the power consumption to north of 300W. I am not concerned about the enviromental perspective here, although it is still an argument as well ;-) Nvidia is afraid of the AMD performance, that is why the power consumption is so high. Why is that? Nvidia is still on the Samsung 10nm chip manufactioring process although it is called 8nm. AMD uses the advanced TSMC 7nm process that already helped to turn their CPUs into a very capable competitor for Intel. Nvidia has to increase the power consumption to keep up with AMD. Perhaps they will still be faster a little bit, but the AMD high PC end card will be probably very attractive. I for one can easily wait till october to confirm my thoughts. I still love my 1080Ti.

Just do it :-) Not while driving the car of course! Watch the ground near to the fast car or the near surroundings of the fast train. Reality has problems to provide a clear picture in these cases too ;-)

Look in real life out of the side of a fast train or a fast car. The things will quadruple ;-)

Mission 3 (bombing run): Ongoing preparations, set up the controls for the L39ZA version of the plain, set up a training mission, getting a grip on the weapon systems.

I would not like to reach the actual switch with my bare hand. I think a 2D hand "mouse" would work good enough. Just control the mouse pointer by the extended index finger and retract/tick the index finger to switch or rotate hand to rotate knobs. But a real 3D option for the hand would be also nice, time to clear the space arround my rig ;-). It is worth a try but perhaps the physical mouse buttons/physcal mouse wheel feels just better than operating virtual switches and knobs. So as a further idea, I would like to buy a mouse with a rotary knob instead of the mouse wheel :-)

Mission 3 (bombing run): I need some preparation for this flight. Looking forward to this mission.

Mission 2: I passed the hop this time like predicted. :-)

Thanks for the alternative trees. I dont like the look of the default trees on the caucasus map at all.

I love what detail we have achieved in flight simulation that we are whishing for a actual seat adjustment over a view point change :-)

Thanks for your advice. Third attempt Mission 2: It is not the altimeter readout, there is a bug in mission 2. The instructor calls for 200 meters in the second leg and third leg, but you have to fly 300 meters to meet his expectations (He starts to complain when the altitude is less than 250 meters in these legs, starting around the course correction point) This time I finished the flight but did not meet the time over target requirements. With knowledge about the altitude bug, now I am prepared to pass this check flight on the next try. [Edit: This is not a bug in the mission. I mixed up barometric and radio altimeter. You have to match the barometric altimeter with the instructor call for 200 meters. In the second and third leg when the barometric altimeter readout is 200 meters the radar altimeter shows about 300 meters. This campaign is gold. I improve my flying skill and systems knowledge with every flight.]

Mission 2 (Follow a flight path, Time on Target): On the second attempt I got again a message about deviation that ended the mission. I was on the correct flight path, but the instructor complained about the flight level (200m) although the barometric altimeter showed the correct value. I think there is probably a problem with the altimeter, but in VR I do not know how to compare the readout with the exact flight level. I have fun nevertheless and I am looking forward to my next attempts on this mission. [Edit: My mistake. I mixed up barometric and radar altimeter.]

+1 considering 3080 upgrade for 1080ti But there is a 1070ti with 16GB on the horizon, so perhaps a 1080ti with more than 10GB will also appear in the near future? Probably DDR6x is a little bit scarce right now. In any case I will wait for DCS performance feedback from early adaptors. With the 700 bucks not spent for a 3090, I will have the option to get a Ryzen 4000 + fast RAM + nice Motherboard if the performance is attractive. To speak the truth, I am quite content with my VR experience right now on the 1080ti & 3600x combo. No urge for quick decisions.

Flying this in a HP Reverb: Mission 1: Finally I passed the first mission. The barometric altimeter readout seems to be incorrect during turns. I had to pay attention to the outside and the instruments at the same time to stay in the tight limits for the mission. Fun, but during the last week I stopped all my other flight routines till I made it through this quite difficult mission ;-) [Edit: I mixed up the barometric and the radar altimeter. Quite natural the radar altimeter readout changes in the turn.]

Need your advise : To Pre-order or Not HP REVERB G2

Lets add a curve setting to horizontal HMD movement :-) -
Waiting for the second tier of this Nvidia generation.

Thanks for this essential addition!
