Nvidia even had to paper launch their clunky cards, because after Big Navi on the shelfs, nobody will be interested in Nvidia anymore ;-)
recent rumors too good to be true, aren't they
I use my regular not too big glasses. Even my contact lenses that only focus for distant objects in the real world work very well in VR for the flight instruments too. No need for reading glasses in VR for me.
In the real world I hate progressives. I just put my regular glasses at the tip of my nose and the changed distance to the eye and the changed viewing angle make reading possible very well.
Do you have a 2k monitor? 1440p native looks much better than 1440 on a 4k screen. A 1440p monitor would be probably a better upgrade than a 3080.
A guy running DCS on a Rift S and a 3080 is reporting not stellar 60 to 80 FPS. I stay on my 1080Ti which manages 90 FPS when I drop the rendering to 70%.
I really recommend to reduce the resolution in VR if you want more FPS now if you own a 2080/1080Ti already. The 3080/3090 are unattractive options with only marginal performance improvements and include an unwanted stupid 400 Watt vacuum cleaner/heater.
Like pascal the best point for the next upgrade will be when a better chip manufactoring process arrives. Lets hope for the next generation. 200% performance for the same cost like my last card or I pass.
Yes Nvidia, the new AMD, totally untrustworthy and sneaky. Fake cards, fake benchmarks. Just distasteful.
But perhaps that is just the trend in the world, not only in business.
Let us have a look who will learn their lessons first.
LOL those flight simulator 3080 benchmarks.
This card is an abomination for flying. All my nightmares true ;-)
This will also be true for the 3090. Skip to you my Lou!
I just take the Reverb off. Click on the Mixed Reality Portal and click the icon with the HMD in the upper left. There I select the seated position (because it is just a click this way to recenter). Ready to put Reverb on again without leaving DCS.
But the FE is not a real card, only a fake product to make the competitor look bad. You will have to buy a third party partner product for an inflated price.
Lets put some pressure on NVidia to actually provide enough of the FE cards for the demand or let them pay if they do not put their products where their mouth is!
While my hardware & software is not able to eliminate the shimmering my bioware is with a little help. Perhaps It is not appropriate to tell you how I achieve this :-). Under the influence of some Jazz music I do not realize any shimmering anymore.
Your preload radius is insane. I use the lowest setting in VR with no loss in quality and big gains on performance (1080Ti)
And loading is much faster also this way. Give it a try at least in VR.
