If this happens to me once in a while I recenter a seated position in Mixed Reality-Portal. (No need to leave DCS) Problem often raises its head after windows updates.

Looking forward to your review on the dream set!

Try turning the preload to the lowest setting. This acutally increases the performance on my 1080Ti & Reverb combo.

Testing Impact of Monitor Res on Graphics Card in VR
Motomouse replied to flameoutme's topic in Virtual Reality
done that, been there, not worth your time If you want to reduce a resolution and gain true benefits, it is not the monitor resolution you should reduce ;-) -
I am sure there are a FEW people out there needing faster GPUs for flat screens. But the majority of potential gaming customers does not even own hardware to profit by faster GPUs. Ergo NVidia has enough time to develop fancy features for deep learning, raytracing and business customers, but does not focus enough for our niche needs for faster rasterization. But dont take me too seriously here, I just want to shorten my waiting time for my next GPU ;-)

+20% 45 FPS -> 54 FPS impressive ;-)
-
Real problem is you need no faster GPUs for flat screen games and VR users are only a small group.
-
I dont want no tensor cores and raytracing. I want a faster GPU. When will they ever learn ;-)
-
I like it, I just like DCS much more :-)
-
Flew for about 20 hours, back to DCS only for now.
-
VR experience better for sure, much better I doubt. :-)
-
And sometimes I just bear with low FPS on 100% rendering while waiting for the next gen GPUs ;-)

Uh Oh, a ten skill strike in call of duty is quite an achievment for an old fart too ;-)

So what's your critical opinion on the new map
Motomouse replied to twistking's topic in DCS: Syria Map
I like it a lot, especially with high Visib Range. But I have to drop my resolution to get good frames when I go for high Visib Range. -
A single pixel is much smaller in 4k than in 1080p.
-
If you just changed from 90hz to 60hz you will notice probably a slight flickering, no dimming. But if I start in 60hz mode I do not notice flickering at all. But I prefer the constant FPS of the 60hz mode over aiming for 60 FPS in the 90 hz mode. When I use the 90hz mode I reduce Visib Range from High to Medium and aim for 90 FPS with my settings.

If you have a card to drive 4k upgrade to a HP Reverb G2 instead of the 4k monitor. (I used both VR and 4k monitor).

How to determine if my system is CPU or GPU bound?
Motomouse replied to DutchCoolHand's topic in Virtual Reality
You are GPU or CPU bound not by your systems but by your settings. It changes from case to case when you change your settings if you are limited by GPU or CPU (or Tacview) To make best use of your current hardware use a tool like fpsVR to balance GPU and CPU load (And detect the bad boy in the background as well this way if you are lucky.). -
If you want to get an impression of the half resolution look, google for videos about the HP Reverb G2 with through the lense examples of half resolution. Not bad at all. An amazing VR experience because of the fluid framerates.

Who is afraid of half resolution? 1564 x 1528 pixels per eye I will start with my 60 FPS beauty settings. I would recommend these for everyday usage because the 60 FPS target allows for a stunning lighting and VR experience. (If you want to achieve the 60 FPS also in multiplayer and complex missions, make sure you uninstall tacview. (Will later test if disabling is an option too). I noticed this when both my GPU and CPU frametimes were exceptional, but still achieved lower FPS in multiplayer.) Take a special note of the Depth of Field & Preload settings :-) (Besides quality Texture, Visib Range, Cockpit Global Illumination, MSAA and Shadow options) I also turn on advanced supersampling in Steam VR.
-
Because you know: 90 FPS is all about that settings, no trouble, no trouble! Who is afraid of half resolution? 1564x1528 versus 1200x1440 (HP half resolution vs Rift S full resolution per eye) I fly 90 FPS in multiplayer and over big cities. But usually I prefer to fire up 60 hz mode and fly 60 FPS high quality. 1. Set your Reverb to half resolution 2. Uninstall Tacview Enjoy! 3600X & 1080Ti & HP Reverb https://forums.eagle.ru/showthread.php?t=285493

What are your FPS/frametimes on Multiplayer servers. I doubt many people will see a substantial FPS increase in Multiplayer by upgrading their GPU. My CPU frametime in Multiplayer is about 12 to 14 ms while my GPU only uses 9ms (3600x&1080Ti&Reverb)

Ryzen3 and RDNA launch dates
Motomouse replied to Leaderface's topic in PC Hardware and Related Software
Ryzen 3 for Multiplayer FPS RDNA 2 for Singleplayer FPS ;-)
