  1. Perhaps a newbie friendly version of the through the inferno missions would do the job?
  2. Thanks for sharing. Amazing VR Setup.
  3. Very nice chessna cockpit. Do you already have VR experience with flight sims? In VR no need for a cockpit when you are flying jets with HOTAS. You just need throttle and stick at the correct position in space. (Important for immersion). A configurable chair is also nice for immersion (I use a used car chair as desktop chair and flight seat.) For all switches and buttons not on the HOTAS I use DCS clickable cockpit. Use an used stable office desk with drawers. one of the left drawers -> Throttle one of the right drawers -> Stick (F16 no need for deskmount) Invest the saved money in a nice Hardware, HOTAS and HMD. You can switch very fast from cockpit to office desk as a bonus. :-) I appreciate a nice cockpit and the creativity for conventional simming, but in VR I feel like it is a waste of resources ;-)
  4. HP having no email support option at least in my region of the world, only offering crappy AI support options, no human follow up to support tickets does not increase my motivation for the G2. Nevertheless I still think the Reverb is a good HMD overall. I think some companys have no sense how important support is in a market where there exists the opportunity to sell a HMD nearly every year to returning customers.
  5. VKB Gladiator MK2 without doubt. Out of stock, new model incoming.
  6. Dont feel bad, perhaps a nice alternative will enter the market before the G2 is in stock ;-) And the difference to the first genereation Reverb is not too big, so I will read some reviews first before upgrading myself. - Better audio (Hardly, I use my beyerdynamic cans anyway) - Better clarity (nice to have, but I like the clarity of the reverb already, no problem with sweet spot) - Better visual quality with increased brightness, contrast, etc. (nice to have, but not bad too in the reverb one) - Mechanical IPD (nice to have, but i have the optimal IPD for gen one) - No mura (i could not describe this, mura non issue for me, perhaps I have bad eyesight ;-) - lighter and longer cable (Yes!) (nice to have, but I route the reverb one cable over my desk drawer, non issue in the seated position) - 4 cameras, etc. etc. (perfect tracking for me in gen one, make sure you setup with bounderies, bad tracking in gen one with stationary setup) Many nice improvements, I think a very good headset the G2, but no need to hurry when you own a gen one already. I am very happy they manage to achieve the improvments without a price increase. I welcome the coop with valve and microsoft. Gen one users will also profit. (Considering all this it was time to upgrade my stick NOW)
  7. Just dont forget to turn off the visibility of the boundries ;-)
  8. Yes the setup with boundaries provides much better tracking compared to the stationary (even if you only use your Headset stationary).
  9. Tip for those with bad tracking. WMR setup standing procedure produces a much better tracking result than setup sitting procedure, even if you are sitting all the time. After setup standing I have flawless tracking all the time again like I am used to from my Reverb. (After setup sitting it is horrible). (Discovered this by accident when I encountered a few bad tracking sessions out of nowhere.)
  10. Both installed. Only Beta. I have no reason to use stable.
  11. How much RAM and which GPU? When I have crashes from time to time it seems to be related to RAM or GPU memory issues.
  12. Turn off the modules you dont fly currently? Would this be of help?
  13. Try another DNS for example google dns.
  14. Probably the potentiometers are borked. Bad potiometers spike a lot (uncalled and uncontrollable movement of the plane is the consequence). I can use mine with a big deadzone but it is no fun. Not sure if I shoud upgrade to a warthog base or continue to use my gladiator mk2.
  15. Thanks Kegetys for your headsup and the lua example
  16. I use cockpit only shadows now with flat terrain object shadows in combination. The flat terrain object shadows are not costly at all and combined with high cockpit only scenery shadows it looks very nice. Perhaps one way to improve performance for scenery object shadows for ED is to use a low detail lod model instead of the full detailed model to calculate the shadows? But I am no expert if this is possible at all.
  17. Set LODdistance to from 100000 to 75000 in cloud.lua. Break multiplayer that way (integrity check) and stop the bug for clouds. (cloud rendering problem not related to stereo parser) LODdistance = 75000, -- max distance getting from float smCamera_Implement::GetDistance(viFlag mask=viCloud) = 100000 By the way the rendering bug occcurs with 100000 and 90000. Will try at which LOD distance exactly the clipping error sets in.
  18. 5.2 or 5.3, does it really matter :-) If it really does, we will appreciate some disruptive developments like the new graphices engine for that other sim or the next nvidia gen living up to the hype ...
  19. I used a small coin to unscrew the earpieces. While not bad, they do not compare to real headphones. Have you seen a Valve Index after many hundred hours of use (Not a nice picture too). Not too easy to design a quality set. But the plastic straps on the sides of the Reverb look really a bit cheap.
  20. The UV lighting systems were an anticorona mechanism ;-) https://www.hodinkee.com/articles/luminous-dials-what-makes-them-glow-and-how-to-spot-their-differences
  21. In the Kurfürst it looks exactly like the radioactive watches I have seen.
  22. You need no UV light. It is radiactive glow. No external light source involved.
  23. An old bicycle tube is a good and quick solution (racing bike tube has a good size for this): (I use anyway my beyerdynamic cans and dont miss the earpieces. Much better sound immersion that way.)
