I would like more FOV without a second lcd in my next HMD. I could live with marginally less resolution then the HP Reverb. The Vive Pro 2 is lacking in regard to my FOV requests for the next generation.

I enjoy flying there in VR right now

I am enjoying solo flights on the channel map at 3128 x 3056 and 2x AA at the channel map a lot in 2.7 right now (3600X & 3080 & Reverb) I do not look at the FPS, I just enjoy.

If you like to fly warbirds you will enjoy the map. If you like to fly with others, I recommend joining a group or starting a new group. Than you can fly multiplayer missions with the settings and maps you most enjoy. I personally flew in a group in the past, but stopped because of my current time constraints. I enjoy solo flying at the channel airfields in the spitfire. But I do not want to miss my past group experiences up in the skys over the channel

No, just up your G1 scaling resolution. Probably you like to stay on the lower scaling for performance reasons anyway.

On a Reverb G1 the WMR Best Visual Quality setting does not cure the problem. (Test: Start F16 Free Flight and have a look at distant clouds and check for clipping errors.)

Horrible performance with RTX 3080 / Reverb G2 / and VR

+1 thanks dburne very helpful advice -
Today our group tried the DCS Voice Chat for the first time and we liked it. We experienced a much better sound quality than our usual third party solution and flawless operation with no impact on performance. Thank you!

First check your Pixel Density in game, your SteamVR settings and if you like you can post a picture of your DCS settings for feedback.

userbenchmark is not an adequate information source anymore (dont ask, google if you doubt it) I recommend to use other sites & sources to compare contemporary hardware until they fix their shop

The performance of DCS and the HP Reverb G1 improved over the last few weeks: I am flying right now with my friends on the channel map in multiplayer at 100% rendering, 4x AA, high shadows, medium distance with > 45 FPS at all situations (very enjoyable with the good steamvr motion smoothing enabled)

Your 1080 (non ti) will be fine for your first flights. A faster GPU later will always be nice but not needed right of the bat. I would not go for the 3080 (at least as long as the price is not dropped back to mrsp, which will be soon with the newer and faster cards available. A 6800XT, 6900XT or 3080Ti will provide much better performance per buck.
-
The 3080 is now available sometimes at different shops. But not attractive any longer at 10 GB VRAM and 900 bucks. I will aim for a 6800XT or a 3080Ti. If I dont get one of those initially I just fly a little bit more on my trusty 1080Ti and save a lot of money :-). Prices for the 3080 will drop soon a lot, no need to hurry if you bet on this card.

Settings? CPU? frametimes?
-
2080 will provide very playable fps. I would definitly go for the G2 before an upgrade of the GPU. No GPU upgrade necessary to enjoy, always nice to have one later.

Is it possible to add a TAA option to DCS? Thank you.

No effect in DCS

FPS drop from smoke and explosion/gun impacts. Any way to mitigate?

The 8700k is a very nice CPU -
I am using standard 1.0 pixel density

FPS drop from smoke and explosion/gun impacts. Any way to mitigate?
Motomouse replied to Vitallini's topic in Virtual Reality
a) Check (for example with fpsVR) frametimes for smoke and explosions. (You did this already, therefor 4 was not a good decision ;-)) b) Run mission on dedicated server (for example on the same computer) and compare results c) Use low settings (No supersampling, no AA) and compare results 2. and 4. No I play at 90FPS on my 3600x & unlocked 1080Ti & Reverb combo & 100% rendering & super low DCS settings for dogfighting. Try to get high fps by downsampling and then increase from there to find your sweetspot (downsampling also helps with cpu frametimes somewhat). 100% Reverb SteamVR = 2212x2160. Unlocked 1080Ti = 117% Powerlimit & 100% Fan. -
My feeling is (not only the high end) GPUs are produced for the chinese market nowadays (like the Galax GPUs). Time to adjust.
-
My CPU frame times are already with a 3600x at very good 5 to 6ms (so no need for dedicated server in my use case). I am totally GPU bound with my 1080Ti at 100% Reverb G1 rendering (10ms frametime). When I unlock my 1080Ti I am able to keep the 90FPS for dogfighting. If I am able to snatch a 6800xt ahead of the chinese miners I hope for dogfighting at 150% rendering :-) If not I just continue to shoot down my opponents at 100% rendering ;-)
