  1. I am very happy. The Aero is exceeding my expectations by far, coming from the Reverb. The image quality and performance are superb on my 5600 & 3080. The Reverb -> Aero upgrade is in the same league like the Matrox -> Voodoo 3d upgrade back in the days All in all, it is the jaw dropping experience I hoped for. I would REALLY like to hear the REAL opinions of others who have purchased this headset. Have you got it up and running? How does it perform for you? Does the reality match expectation?
  2. 64 GB: expected: I can use my Syria map unexpected: I can fly multiplayer without stutters at the same FPS and picture fidelity as singleplayer on all servers I use (I had to reduce my settings for heavier multiplayer scenarios prior and thought it was a VRAM issue. But it was just a RAM shortage seemingly.) 5600 & 3080 & Aero & 45 FPS sync
  3. I am enjoying my 5600 & 3080 & Aero. No need to upgrade CPU now. But if you like to test yourself, feel free to post your results.
  4. 3080 does not support frame gen
  5. Hope you are well again very soon. I just managed my first kill with the 64 GB on my first Enigma Cold War Syria flight in the AJS37 Viggen. With a little help of my friends at the AAA of the airfield CU in the skys.
  6. I followed your example and upgraded to the same 2x32 GB sticks. I was not able to drive 4x16GB sticks at 3200, but 2x32 works well on my asrock 450 board & 5600. I wanted to fly in syria without dropping the ram speeds. I am quite happy with the upgrade.
  7. I get very good results with DLSS in MSFS. When I used Aero 39 PPD highest settings and DFR for good picture quality in MSFS I achieved about 30 to 40 FPS with 3080 & 5600. With DLSS Balanced setting combined with my settings I achieve 45 FPS+ in all situations. DLSS Balanced 4200 x 3700 + DFR on the Aero looks much better than DLSS Balanced 2160x2160 on the Reverb G2 at the same FPS levels in MSFS. The DLSS Artifacts are less noticable on the high res and the clarity of the high PPD is preserved while not exeeding the VRAM limits of my 3080. I do not expect much from DLSS in DCS VR for me personally, because I already achieve stable 45 FPS in DCS without it. Perhaps I will be able to crank some settings up.
  8. You need one base station (lighthouse) for the Varjo Aero. I ordered the base station with the headset. You do not need VR controllers for DCS, MSFS or IL2. (The occulus stations are not an option.)
  9. MSFS also eye tracking with OpenXR toolkit. Are there any other "games" you care about
  10. This also fixed the chromatic aberration on the newer Varjo Base version for me. Thank you for the info.
  11. I double checked and in fact I also use vertical sync only, motion smoothing was turned off.
  12. The better perfomance is related to quadview rendering and OpenXR-Varjo-Foveated rendering. I can use the (highest) 39 ppd (1200x1200 and 2192x1180) Aero setting and achieve 83 to 90 FPS. I like to use the varjo motion projection vertical sync at 45 FPS and crank up the settings (MSAA, SSAO, high shadows, global cockpit illumination, ...)
  13. Aero arrived today. Ordered after Varjo cut the price in half. Very, very happy with the new headset after my Reverb. + Picture quality outstanding. + Perfomance much better than the Reverb (both on my 3080) + Build quality and feel + Software user experience + Perfect fit with my prescription glasses + Adjustability - slightly more weight than the Reverb - Chromatic aberration (Fixed in DCS and MSFS via OpenXR Toolkit, Varjo should add that fix to their base software probably) (Chromatic aberration: Fix is available (for manual install for now) by Varjo.)
  14. Do you experience the imbalance always to the same side?
  15. Thanks for fixing the jumping clouds. Now the clouds are very enjoyable in VR.
  16. Why does wearing your headset over the reverb not work for you? I removed the Reverb G1 ear speakers and use most of the time my JBL control 1 pro stereo speakers. (Sometimes I put on my regular headphones.)
  17. For 90 FPS (3600X & 3080) 2212x2160 SteamVR (about 100% G1 or 50% G2 Reverb) ["graphics"] = { ["DOF"] = 0, ["LensEffects"] = 0, ["MSAA"] = 0, ["SSAA"] = 0, ["SSAO"] = 0, ["SSLR"] = 0, ["anisotropy"] = 3, ["aspect"] = 1.7777777777778, ["box_mouse_cursor"] = false, ["chimneySmokeDensity"] = 0, ["civTraffic"] = "", ["clouds"] = 0, ["clutterMaxDistance"] = 0, ["cockpitGI"] = 0, ["effects"] = 3, ["flatTerrainShadows"] = 2, ["forestDetailsFactor"] = 0.5, ["forestDistanceFactor"] = 0.71, ["fullScreen"] = false, ["heatBlr"] = 0, ["height"] = 1440, ["lights"] = 2, ["messagesFontScale"] = 1, ["motionBlur"] = 0, ["multiMonitorSetup"] = "1camera", ["outputGamma"] = 1.4, ["preloadRadius"] = 19500, ["rainDroplets"] = false, ["scaleGui"] = 1, ["sceneryDetailsFactor"] = 0.5, ["shadowTree"] = false, ["shadows"] = 0, ["sync"] = false, ["terrainTextures"] = "max", ["textures"] = 2, ["useDeferredShading"] = 1, ["visibRange"] = "Low", ["water"] = 0, ["width"] = 2560, }, The above is my current aerobatics 90 FPS low fidelity setting for pure flying fun. I use 3128x3056 SteamVR, MSAA 2x and higher settings when I am contend with 45 FPS+ for flights focusing on systems simulation and image fidelity. To balance GPU and CPU frametimes I use fpsVR. The settings are a moving target with patches and hardware upgrades.
  18. The Mi-8 felt lonely :-)
  19. Thanks for the nice I-16. I even survived my first flight and landing. :-) I enjoy this plane. Very immersive experience.
  20. I did not know no usb is needed. That is much better than the rift tracking via usb camera sensors indeed. (The 300 bucks for two lighthouses I still don't like.)
  21. I prefer the hmd only reverb tracking over the rift tracking just because it is much more convenient to setup. It works trouble free for my flight sim needs. Lighthouse tracking should be an additional option only in my opinion.
  22. I went with the Hip and I like it :-) (Did I mention I had the shark already in the garage)
  23. Lets wait for the measurements to settle this ;-)
