  4. We still don't know what your "performance issue" looks like. It's not okay jump to any conclusions. It's not about generations it's about the workload. the tasks. Some computing tasks just one-sided. But since you mentioned. 12900k have 16 cores right? Intel 12 13 gen CPU more than 8 cores have a nasty #8 CPU bugs. might check this out

What upscaling(DLSS,FSR,NIS) does is, by rendering less resolution/pixels, offload some of the rendering (GPU's work) to the upscaling algorithm which will need more CPU. However If you are in a CPU-bounded or I/O-bounded situation, like multiplayer or heavy missions. Your system might be slowed by the CPU. And meanwhile, DCS has some of bad optimization in some of places too. No upscaling can fix those things, either.
  7. Because this registry has nothing to do with the Steam launch option. it's unrelated with the logs you provided. It's two separated cases. Steam users must use the select launch option. You can click the "Always use this option". I personally oppose saving it because if it causing another issue in the future that you will not remember this setting. And the "Always use this option" only affects the Green "▶Play" button in steam. Just Use the "Always ask for game launch option" in Steam and started with MT is the Steam solution. It's literally how steam works. Stop messing around with Testing and debugging flags if you have never touched them before.   8. @Flappie I think you get confused between OP and bob? It was not wise suggest an unintended user mess with driver testing and debugging flags. OP "TheConqueror"'s issue is simply a Steam launch option problem that is affect every game that uses the Steamwork API. The game will reset to default(ST) every time if user does not use the launch option. I'm very familiar with this steam issue. His log shows it still running at the ST version. Simple as that. bob's issue is "FeatureInitResult = 0x00000001 " was completely different Yes. Nvidia exclusive. AMD have FSR
  9. In Steam, you have to use game launch option every single time to launch MT. Do not start from outside of steam (steam api will reset any attempts from outside of steam). Do not right-click the steam tray icon to start DCS. They are falling back to the DEFAULT launch option. In case you accidentally saved a launch option and are unable to see the dialog: DLSS and DLAA and TAA only support MT version. the log you posted is bin version shows your friend is running the ST version. They must use steam launch option selection dialog to start MT preview. No exception. Every single time.

  11. If you played Steam recently and got a 403 error, Please go to your DCS profile page. If your Steam account state shows binded, it doesn't matter if you transferred or not; you have to click unbind, and then you can use Steam again. or Just use standalone client. In recent days, some users keep getting 403 steam authorization error. I thought it's a steam issue. A lot of people don't know what's wrong with their games. until someone mentioned there's changes in the ED profile page , now it displays: It seems only people who have bind their steam accounts before will get the error, and the problem remains until users unbind their steam accounts. But ED didn't make any announcement, and your FAQ and pined post still remain the same. It is mind boggling and disregard for the customers.
  12. Although real time reconstruction with such consistent quality was impressive but it's not a new thing. Gaussian Splatting and NeRF(Neural Radiance Fields). it was used for photogrammetry for a while. It's not replacement for photogrammetry. It was still AI photogrammetry. We can already do photorealistic scanning ib4 in controlled environment, just took longer time. it will only get faster and more available and require less and less user input without dedicated professional equipment for a better result. No matter how good it looks at the surface level to be "photorealistic", a lot "realism" came directly from the "nature lighting and shading", because everything sampled in real life after all.It only looks good in that specific lighting and environment scene. The 3D mesh underneath is still very ugly, and the texture is pre-baked by the natural lighting. If you directly took them out of the scene, then they would not feel fit. There are tasks that need to be done afterward, like cleaning the 3D mesh or rescanning the object with a laser scanner, resampling, and retouching the texture under controlled lighting. then you can take those assets out of the original scanned scene and use them for more universal purposes. People already use photogrammetry as part of their 3D scanning/modeling work for saving time or for better quality before you even realize it. CGI, geospatial surveying, industrial anywhere you need to reconstruct a 3D thing. A lot of modern game 3D modeling and scene creation is the result of modern 3D scanning and photogrammetry, then cleaning the mesh, retouching the texture, and importing it into the engine to fit the style. 3D scanning for mesh reconstruction is still superior to just AI photogrammetry. A lot of your 3D cockpit and DCS model are 3D-scanned. the mesh is . But DCS lighting is not "photorealistic" or mimics nature, so the scanned texture must be retouched. You have to lose "photorealistic" to fit the DCS world. If you want DCS work in this way, then you need to go out and "scan the world". Most DCS maps use >50meter ish satellite image. no photogrammetry not gonna fill the missing details. And the price to get <1meter level satellite on 200,000 sq km of area to create a reasonable detailed map isn't cheap. It could easily cost you millions to obtain the image alone from geospatial service providers and brokers. Not even mention street images. And copyright concerns. Still, lots of labor needs to be done to get rid of all the signs and stuff. You want new model right now? good. Go find a TU-95 on the ground, then ask for clearance. drone scan it. go back, then import the work. Let the software do the job, then retouch the 3D mesh and texture. There are still a lot of intense labors to be done, but they are definitely faster than sculpting manually from pure polygon. You can do it now then import the result into 3d max then covert them to edl then you get new tu95 model in DCS. It just means someone still has to do those. It's still labor. And a lot of textures. probably GB level of textures, so it finally can be photorealistic (in that very specific lighting).

  14. the HUD and ASI deviation remain the same all the way regardless temp and pressure settings. From densest air to thinnest air, and 15C 29.92inhg it might be just a visual, so far i can tell.
  15. I relocated all personal folders to a different drive but it keeps generating log to a non-existing path(C:). Should we use SHGetKnownFolderPath to get the "saved game"(4C5C32FF-BB9D-43B0-B5B4-2D72E54EAAA4) folder( return correct path ) instead of Environment.SpecialFolder.Userprofile + "\\Saved game\\DCS Updater Utility\\" which always point to C drive ?
  16. It's minor but still annoying issue. DCS Font is using texture font instead of windows font format. Texture XY coord is rounded up incorrectly when apply scale i assume
  17. Bump. VR toggle actually kinda handy. During years of vr playing. Player take on off headset quite often. Able to resume game play or navigate the menu in 2d/VR w/o restart the game or session is extra extra helpful.

  19. AI units work fine in SP. However in MP. Once a ground unit has been took control by a player(alt+J or F10 take control). After the player left or exit the control. Those units can only aim but cant fire at target by CMDR's command. client track can demonstrate the issue. test2-20230601-173324.trk Server side with 3D rendering demonstrate the same view as how client see: Only aiming no firing no kill target alive. Server side track was able to react and kill target as intended. So the server track was corrupted CMDR can still use set path and move group around.

  22. MFCD in the setting or viewports is used to export some of cockpit gauge or display into part of screen or secondary/3rd.. 4th display etc.. The default MFCD did not help much actually. User usually find out they need customize the viewports.lua in order to export the correct panel. dont bother with setting untill you start build something like those
  23. in order to make server popup. all of those requirement server must achieve. A public IP. Firewall(hardware or windows) allows DCS 10308 and 10309 on TCP and UDP in and out. If your server under NAT. Portforwading 10308 and 10309 and TCP and UDP to server address. (or UPnP , although i find that UPnP isnt always reliable depends on manufacture or settings) Server and client must able to connect to www.digitalcombatsimulator.com Server and client version not outdate or mismatch
  24. sry when i say your router/network/server, i mean "your friend's router" or whoever host that thing. the client don't need much. just make sure every thing on server side is done properly
