Same. I've recommended it in the past, and was told it's unlikely.

There's a manual. Come on, man, this ain't Alexa. https://www.vaicompro.com/faq.html
-
Either way, even if it's intentional, the tiling is awful. Especially from higher altitudes.
-
I don't know if this is unique to 2.5, but whatever it is, it's really ugly. It's visible from around 1000 feet AGL and below, and looks like a tiled puddle or mud texture. Bug or feature?

Dude, great job. Really looks like FLIPs. Any chance you're going to put together approach procedures for Russia?

Scale of Speedtrees in 2.5
aaron886 replied to Bananimal's topic in Utility/Program Mods for DCS World
Careful, Pedro, you got the folder structure wrong I think. \Mods\terrains\Caucasus\Models\CaucasusObjects not \Mods\terrains\Caucasus\Models\CaucasusObject -
MSI GTX 1080 ti vs MSI GTX 980 ti
aaron886 replied to Alpenwolf's topic in PC Hardware and Related Software
GPU Boss sucks. Use Userbenchmark. No, you probably won't be able to absolutely max 2.5 with a 980 Ti but you'll have good performance. If you don't intend to buy a VR headset, I wouldn't shell out for the 1080 Ti, at least not with today's prices. -
https://forums.eagle.ru/showthread.php?t=162152&highlight=leap+motion+support https://forums.eagle.ru/showthread.php?t=160969&highlight=vive+controllers Looks like no on the Vive controllers for now. Try the search function instead of making a thread and double posting in it, you'll probably get better information.

This is totally anecdotal, no charts and graphs. However, I know I browsed this forum hoping to find this kind of information and came up short, so hopefully this helps someone. Settings: PD 1.3 https://i.imgur.com/DCWRI1j.png I spend the majority of my DCS time doing aerobatics, often with a lot of diverse air units around and at low altitude. That said, there's not much in the way of ground units or AI combat being calculated, so YMMV. Old system: 4770k OCd to 4.4 GHz ASUS Z87A G.SKILL Ripjaws 16 GB DDR3 at 2400 MHz (CL 14) EVGA 980 Ti SC Low altitude over Senaki: 45 (ASW) with frequent dips below. Medium altitude: 45 with occasional dips below At high altitude: 45 constantly New system: 8700k stock ASUS Z370-A PRIME Corsair Vengeance LPX 16 GB DDR4 at 3000 MHz (CL 15) EVGA 1080 Ti FTW3 Hybrid (Liquid/Air) Low altitude over Senaki: 45 constantly, never dips below 45 Medium altitude: 90, occasionally locks to 45 (ASW) High altitude: 90 constantly During the upgrade, as parts arrived, I had the 8700k and 980 Ti paired together when 2.5 first dropped. With similar settings, the results were more akin to the old system but with a reduction of dips below 45 FPS. Conclusion? 1080 Ti is an absolute beast.

Slaw Device USAF pedals not holding center
aaron886 replied to mhe's topic in PC Hardware and Related Software
First of all, I have RX Viper pedals, so this isn’t apples to apples. Second, Slaw will work with you until it’s fixed! My pedals had a similar problem after shipping and we found a damaged part after some long skype talks. It’s true, his English is bad, but his passion for good engineering is not, and he will make sure your pedals work. As he told me, at that price, they are a professional grade instrument and should work accordingly. He shipped replacement parts for free and discounted the cost. In the end, my problem was the cap nut over the main axis of rotation. It was de-threaded and not holding the rudder bar firmly. I can’t remember what our temporary solution was, but it worked perfectly, and to be honest I never even installed the replacement parts. It’s held center so perfectly, I haven’t calibrated it since then. 50.00%, every time I check it. Maybe your problem is similar? -
I don't think this setting corresponds to actual IPD. Note how, if you set the IPD in that box to your known IPD, everything looks... wrong. Anyone else notice it screws with head position also?

I had read somewhere on this forum that it may be due to the fact that ED has to bake their own MSAA implementation into their engine because of the deferred rendering. The implication being that ED's implementation is slow but could be made faster. Anyone know if that's true? Maybe they could implement one of FXAA/SMAA/MLAA in post to reduce render times?

Yeah this thread is ridiculous. I've never heard of anyone not being impressed by VR. TrackIR is almost bad enough to ruin flight sims for me now. Come on bro, you don't even have it yet! How do you know? :D

EVGA selling direct to consumers, Save money
aaron886 replied to CAT_101st's topic in PC Hardware and Related Software
Because you're all flight sim guys and I'm sure none of you are crypto miner jerks, here's my secret... https://www.nowinstock.net/computers/videocards/nvidia/gtx1080ti/setalerts.php -
Great stuff guys, thanks! This is what this sub-forum ought to be for!

I did quite a bit of adjusting with my mini-sticks yesterday also, adding a stronger curve, etc. I didn't end up with any of that, which is interesting. I wonder if it might be fixed with a simple recalibration? The VKBDevCfg software manual has a section on physical axis filtering (starting on page 27.)

Setting realistic expectations for the Hornet
aaron886 replied to neofightr's topic in Military and Aviation
Wow, cool pic! That paint scheme is unusual, looks like a McD company jet or operational flight test scheme. Anyone able to find more pictures? -
Except that the AF447 CVR tells the tale. If the other crewmembers realized that Bonin (most junior crewmember who was on the controls) had been pulling the stick full aft the whole time, they might have recovered. Unfortunately they didn't understand he was keeping them in the stall until it was too late. You can read the moment of realization in the transcript, it's absolutely chilling. Had the sticks been linked, things may have gone differently. He was the reason the airplane was not responding in an understandable way for the rest of the crew. In my opinion, un-linked dual controls is a serious design flaw. I've got nothing serious against side-sticks, but unlinked controls is a bad idea. Which one has killed more people? The upper body of a pilot against a yoke is easily managable. Someone could lean into a stick by the same logic, and it would be even harder to manage. Sure, add a disconnect for binding flight controls (some already do,) but definitely don't build the airplane without dual feedback.

It’s hard to describe if you haven’t flown something with a real, full-sized stick in it. Because the center-stick has a longer arm and more throw, it allows the pilot to input smaller deflections and simultaneously receive more feedback for those inputs. The pilot receives feedback in the form of force and displacement, whereas with a side-stick the pilot receives less feedback from displacement, if any. In non-fly-by-wire aircraft, a center-stick also reflects the “stick-free neutral point” very well, meaning the stick centers where it is trimmed. This allows the pilot to quickly find trimmed condition by muscle memory. Additionally, a center-mounted stick allows a pilot to fly with either hand in a cramped cockpit wearing restrictive gear, and use two hands to overcome high control forces (not necessarily a thing anymore.) You can see by these descriptions how the value of a center-stick has decreased with time, as fly-by-wire (and HOTAS) aircraft have proliferated. This is why you’ll see the F-35 become the Navy’s first side-stick controlled carrier jet. It’s a big departure for the service, which has historically mandated the center-stick for fine control behind the boat.

Introducing the VKB-Sim ‘Modern Combat Grip’ (MCG)
aaron886 replied to rrohde's topic in VKB-SIM Flight Gear
On the first of April, by any chance? -
I don't think that's normal. Mine is momentary, like the Warthog. Are you Gunfighter Mk.1 like me? If so, did you do the "DEFAULT" configuration reset in VKBDevCfg?

Seriously, guys, this thread is painful.
