Few Questions About "Boom and Zoom" Attacks in a P-51
probad replied to SharkBait's topic in DCS: P-51D Mustang
you squandered the advantage you had. why would you wait for him to gain on you? you have to keep up your offensive because every second longer spent running away is one second longer he has to recover. this is a real headscratcher, because in energy fighting if you get to make multiple passes at all, then it means the other guy is even lower energy than you and isnt getting a chance to recover, so why would you have to go regain energy if you are already executing more energy-conservative maneuvers than him? that's why you're in the vertical in the first place! you disengage because there's the threat of getting thirdpartied, not because the enemy is some magic fairy that gets an influx of energy all of a sudden after you do 3 passes. no, he gets energy because you ran away to "regain energy" yourself. if you're gonna hit a guy you better be thinking about how to kill him. -
well theres a lot of bullshit out there anyone who's actually flown the mig-15 against a sabre knows the mig can't dive. its not that it doesnt accelerate like a burning squirrel, its because its acceleration is wasted by a top speed limit. approaching transonic it loses pitch authority and inevitably initiates an uncommanded roll which if allowed to progress will accelerate the dive further until the aircraft is in an unrecoverable inverted dive into the ground. you must be cautious when diving in the mig-15 which means throttling back and speedbraking meanwhile sabres can just firewall it downhill thanks to the all flying tail. you will never catch a sabre if it wants to run away. 6-3 wing sabre is also not the "evenly matched" sabre, it's the "10:1" sabre that will catch the mig eventually even in the climb. mig armament is also not a good fit for its capabilities, low velocity of the cannons means that the lead required for a tracking shot negates its marginal turning advantage. doesnt matter how big your rounds are if you cant put them where you need them.

you should post some replay tracks i am frankly quite stumped at your descriptions of the 109's lack of performance not that i don't recommend plunging straight into mp, but i think you're overemphasizing the deficiencies of the ai flight model. they're not so significant such that the fundamentals of bfm no longer apply.
-
though that last image posted is a rendering of strike eagles -- canopy shape is very distinctive.
-
aye, ai cheat a bit but are very much outflyable, so you must not be exploiting your aircraft's potential properly or you spent too many years reinforcing bad habits that lesser flight models let you get away with time is not a qualitative guarantor of anything

zuni is only in 5 inch, no other "versions" iirc the only 2.75 rocket other than hydra was the old mightymouse

unlike canards on the rafale or typhoon the canards on the su-33 are not actuated but are designed to maintain constant orientation into the airflow. they're not for directly effecting attitude changes but rather to aid stability at high aoas

yes i only replied after having verified in game with both viggen and f-15 rwrs
-
rwrs will pick up viggen radar, as it is an x band set just like all other aircraft radars.
-
what? you'll get emission indications but you only get warnings if the radar emitter switches to guidance waveform aka you have a missile inbound if you haven't played any multiplayer yet you should just go online and do some flying, it will answer these basic questions
-
you want to attract an audience that cares more about trading cards than learning about aircraft nope
-
you mean for roleplaying purposes
-
this needs to be standard for all modules complete with shakey hand

Lockheed Martin = LANTIRN -> SNIPER Raytheon = ATFLIR Rafael/NorthropGrumman = LITENING what does "worse" here mean?

AIM-54 Effect on MP (now that we can test it in the sim)
probad replied to Xavven's topic in DCS: F-14A & B
to think this thread will only be a small taste of the turdtornado that will be once the module actually comes out -
im not so sure it looks that dramatic in person, due to the way cameras work these types of stuff tend to look different than through meatvision pilot probably just sees more mundane spark "flecks"
