F-16 Strobe Lights Workaround
BoneDust replied to Ryback's topic in Utility/Program Mods for DCS World
Can't understand why DCS doesn't make the lights this way. It looks much better. -
I believe all of our guys feel the same. We are at the point where we cringe when there's an update because lately an update introduces more bugs than it fixes. We have too many bugs now particularly online, so we'd be happier to have it released later than rushed out the door.

I agree. One would think the main source of information for DCS would be this forum.

I agree mate.

I am not against this either if it means developing a modern and stable core for the sim.

[REPORTED] significant FPS drop just after landing in VR
BoneDust replied to Helios1138's topic in Bugs and Problems
I get random stutters with the Rift S. They last a half a minute to a minute and then clear. It is sort of like the bad stutters experienced around the carrier with the initial 2.5.6 release; just less intense. -
As pilots complete or drop out of the training program we open slots. So, we are opening 4 F-18 slots for the North American side of the wing VMFA-115 Two seats have been filled, so we are down to: 2 - F18 pilots North America. 0 - F18 pilots Europe Training can take up to 3 months, or as little as 2 weeks. It depends on your current skill level and commitment to fly. Click here and then recruitment. https://forum.vcaw1.com/

You are not alone. I have no issue seeing raw paint from hostile aircraft offline but online I do not see any. Friendlies work both online and off line. So, yes for me and a few other on our wing their is an issue but I believe it is net code related rather than the radar.

I'm not sure that would help because they currently have an entire community of beta testers. Most people want to beta test because they get the latest improvements (the reason so many fly the beta over the stable), but if that's their main reason they are the worst testers ED could have. Proper Beta testing is extremely tedious and boring. You also need to understand the way a system should work, and you need to keep your opinion from public eyes. It is not a fun job.

Yes, sorry. You can use the CATs if you call ATC and hit the U key several times. You may have to call ATC a few more times but eventually you will connect. You may black out on launch but use F2 view and you'll be fine. The blackout is only 7 seconds or so. My guess is you will not see a fix to the current carrier until the new carrier is released. I understand the frustrations but I think ED is doing the right thing by getting 2.5.6 stable. If it is a major concern to folks they can easily role back or switch to the stable version.

I understand what guys are saying. I'd like to see some forward movement with the hornet, but right now I think it is more important to have a stable platform. This update has moved us forward, but I noticed some minor stutters near the carrier in my test flight, so there's still a slight memory leak or something else causing stutters; greatly reduced but not eliminated. I noticed that the sim loads much quicker, so that's a nice improvement. I am still seeing that static1 text and whatever the other text says, but that's minor so not a big deal. I do not believe the carrier will be fixed until the new carrier is released, and I'm ok with that if it gets the new carrier out working and out as soon as possible.

You still have to do a dance mate.

Noticed that the other day.

I assume the new carrier has different internal functions involving the animated deck crew that are not compatible with the old carrier, so I'm not really surprised that there will be a transition period before both the new and old work. It will get sorted buddy. Here's what I've been doing with our guys on the NA side. Call for taxi, which sometimes replies with "cleared for start up". You may see blast door 3 pop up...just ignore that. Taxi to the CAT you want to hook to and position yourself correctly for hook up. Call ATC again and ignore the response because it might say "cleared for start up or cleared for taxi". After you call ATC hit the cat connect key a couple of times and you should hook up, and you'll see blast door 3 retract. That's been working for me and a few others mate.

Most people do not understand what being a beta tester is. They think it allows them to get all the new stuff and play with it (have fun), when the reality is its the most boring aspect of software development. If people understood that they would not be lining up at the door to be a tester  Bugs will still be released even with beta testing. Some are known and some simply didn't get picked up. Beta testing is not about having fun if you're doing it as it should be done.

Why would any hardcore simmer not cold start their jet? That's part of the fun, but to each his own.

Thanks bud. Nomad took them a few days ago when we did a flight with JTF 501.

ED's Updated QA Our updated process includes: Longer internal QA testing and debugging. Earlier external Beta Tester access to Release Candidates. How to become a Beta Tester. English & Russian links. A new closed Eagle Dynamics dedicated multiplayer testing server. The invitations will be announced soon. DCS Open Beta delivery. Hotfix process (if required). DCS Stable delivery. This is a great move. Better to have stability then rushed out; particularly multiplayer issues because it has an adverse affect on the many wings flying DCS. There are still many folks who are not receiving hostile raw radar paints online while other players do not have the issue, still seeing the occasional open canopy or folded wings, and with the latest iteration more crash to desktops and stutters. Still not able to run more than 2 servers, which is a step backward from the initial release. These points are not criticism, they are pointing out many outstanding issues. Online wings want DCS to succeed; the potential is so great.

Hmmmm...there must be a way to get them both working on the clients jet.

Yes, it would be great, although even with one side working it looks better than the default.
