  1. They worked...the moved the aero center forward...helped alot when the wing were going aft... Sensitive in pitch based in conversations with pilot that used it.. Sent from my SM-N950U using Tapatalk
  2. If I look in my old DVD ram discs. I computed the net thrust tf30 versus f110 GE 400 engines M versus ALT for the simulator I worked on. There's a dramatic difference at low speeds between the two engines on output that's why you feel that there is some type of draggy or slow sluggish feel at low speeds with the tf30. To give you an idea you're looking roughly 34,000 lb (tf30) of installed thrust versus 46,000 lb of thrust (110).. at speeds less than 100 knots at sea level. However this changes has a speed increases. But the rate of thrust gained with the TF30 isn't as significant. At one point at the lower altitude the tf30 actually is on par with the 110 as you reach the transonic range. However, at low M, the 110 engine is purely a bfm engine with its robust thrust output in this area. @M0.9 TF30 installed thrust 56000lbs ; 110 installed thrust is 60000 lbs. The 110 has a FADEC that will control the thrust output as it declines after this speed when at SL. Sent from my SM-N950U using Tapatalk

  5. Err.. all variants ended up with DFCS before sunset. It was tested with VF-41 going against the German Luftwaffe Mig 29....in their F14A. They beat the Fulcrum in a cleaner way Sent from my SM-N950U using Tapatalk

  7. Wow! The best response is in the YouTube comments. this person didn't even follow the guidelines what's in the charts. Sent from my SM-N950U using Tapatalk

  9. Well that's faster than the raptor. How do you know he hit 30,000 feet? Sent from my SM-N950U using Tapatalk
  10. Here we go... 14a was allowed to do burner TO whereas the 14b/d we're prohibited to do so. Why? Due to the engine spacing of 9 1/2 ft apart the yaw rates induce when an afterburner is loss of one engines creates such yaw authority and roll that the rudder and possibly roll control input (stabs n spoilers) lack authority at very low speeds. Check your charts. Besides, the GE engines in Mil power was equivalent to TF 30 Stage 1 - 3 afterburner. I don't remember specifically which stage of afterburner as it's been over 15 years or so working on the f-14 simulator. The f-14b demonstration you saw I believe was at NTU or at Wilkes Barres where Snodgrass used the afterburner prematurely before liftoff and he rolled out to the left with gears down. This was the grummans Warbird be heritage flight. Snodgrass Slough the f-14 really slow and did Snow maneuverability as he stayed in formation with the old Grumman world war II warbird. 11. Strange... I recall some of the pilots taking off at half lap settings so how did it get to that point? Sent from my SM-N950U using Tapatalk
  12. Assymmetric thrust, pirouette, end over end (cartwheeling) in the f14 https://www.thedrive.com/the-war-zone/27889/confessions-of-a-navy-f-14-fleet-pilot-turned-f-5-aggressor Sent from my SM-N950U using Tapatalk
  13. The original MACH SWEEP programmer for the first 23 tomcats was programmed for maximum lift which in turn delay The sweep angle.. The problem with it was that it caused was much bending moments on to the wings. In other words, the tomcat could turn a whole lot harder!... They switched it back for the later tomcats for P sub Sent from my SM-N950U using Tapatalk

  17. A lot of fights end up going slow. That's fact. The numbers for the Viper are high..I wouldn't fight that those speeds. The little plane doesn't have much for fuel endurance. It's great to know numbers.. but this isn't scripted. All fights are dynamic, .. stupid to stay predictable. Throwing data out there is great but it isn't the last word. 19. If you ever truly follow the f-14... You understand that the maintainers talk about torque tubes a lot. Now fill in the blanks.. Using the flaps is known as the big boys Sent from my SM-N950U using Tapatalk
  20. I believe the naval variant has titanium wings. IIRC the FADEC in the later-model is a reason why there's a time difference Sent from my SM-N950U using Tapatalk
  21. If you ever read somebody f-14 stories, since the plane does not have fly by wire it will depart by its own characteristics when you reach a certain point. and what some of these pilots would do is exploit these situations and come out on top of the dog fight. There are pilots cartwheeling and doing aerobatic maneuvers mainly Russian the cut the distance and have her nose pointed at the bandit. I suggest you read some of this stories out of the Hozier book and the bye-bye book. The snap-roll maneuver what was just in the nose in a different plane it will cut off the distance Sent from my SM-N950U using Tapatalk
  22. This is game based on observation on YouTube videos. All of you have loss all credibility.. Coming from me.. former contracted DID flight dynamics engineer Sent from my SM-N950U using Tapatalk
  23. I think it's funny that people use YouTube videos when you have no idea what's speed, what wait, what weather conditions... what altitude all of this is happening.. and the load factor.. Sent from my SM-N950U using Tapatalk
