I wouldn't think that more powerful would always have to mean higher flow. Tech advances. Newer engine tech can produce more power and more efficiency (I.e. I'd assume the latest Raptor engines are more powerful and more efficient than the F-14's engines, though I could be wrong). For the Hornet's notorious lack of fuel and short legs.... you'd better believe they were doing everything humanly possible to produce the most economic engine for a fighter with a low amount of fuel capacity to begin with... but afterburner is still afterburner so something to look at.

correct as-is Has the JHMCS blanking gap been fixed?
wilbur81 replied to Manuel_108's topic in DCS: F/A-18C
I think I'm in the right thread here... Just playing a bit with the Viper today and the HMD and noticing that, when I look at the HUD, ALL HMD symbology disappears and it looks great and feels natural. However, in the Hornet, when I look at the HUD while using the HMD, it still shows some HMD symbology (that never goes away) and sometimes there's the double-vision of HMD symbology overlaid against HUD symbology. Is this a DCS Hornet bug or in the real Hornet, does some of the HMD sym. stick around even when looking through the HUD? ** I'll post a screenshot later. ** -
Agreed! This would be really cool...think about the ridiculous price of a legato stream deck.

Make sure somebody's testing it on a 1070, 8700K rig at full 4K, will ya? :smilewink:

Honestly, what are you even talking about? The trees look great in this screenshot. And as BigNewy said, the beauty of DCS and the hype/trailer videos is that they ARE being made with the exact same graphics available to us. Have you ever cranked up the wind, by the way, and watched them? All however-million trees on that map move, bend, and sway in the wind. The trees are actually quite remarkable in DCS. Their shadows can make our hardware cry, though. :)

Suggestion: Stop thinking about your favorite module or feature and remember that ED has a million and one very demanding and complex jobs they're working on. Let's shut up and wait. Play an hour or two on Stable, then go outside, write a loved one a note, read a book, watch a movie, go for a walk, visit the elderly... sheesh. We're such a bunch of fickle, impatient, narrow-minded, selfish, indoors-ie, pale nerds around here! :)

Have you checked out all of the aircraft setup options coming with this? https://forums.eagle.ru/showpost.php?p=3803475&postcount=131 It's going to save me more than seconds!

Playing the old classic, Graphsim's F/A-18 Hornet 3.0 and Korea, I used to enjoy using the GMT mode to pick up moving convoys and tanks as well as SEA to pick out ships. I wonder (err..umm..GB/Lex :smilewink:) what real Hornet pilots would say about use of these two modes? Again, I think they will be a lot of fun to play with, but I don't think they are nearly as high up the list as many here assume. ED has done a pretty good job at giving us the essentials first.

I for one am more excited for the AZ/EL page to be implemented rather than the AG radar...though it will be very fun to play around with. I already find the Hornet to be pretty lethal for AG in its current state.

To be clear: Do you mean that, while you are tracking a particular target in STT with your scope, other datalink aircraft should be showing up in the surrounding area of the scope (not locked, but like MSI feature) in addition to the STT contact I'm tracking? THanks.

Still no NCTR print... No NCTR with proper range and aspect: No NCTR.trk

Hey, Daz. Quick question: Have you ever tried running your DCS at full 4K with that 2070 Super? Curious because I've thought about upgrading from my 1070. Thanks, Nate
-
Nah, the night shots look fantastic. Adding night shadows would be a piece of cake for them, and drag us down to 10 FPS in the process. They're being conservative and wise with the eye-candy.

GPU performance test in DCS2.5.6 for the forum
wilbur81 replied to Cy-27's topic in PC Hardware and Related Software
Anyone willing to run this test at full 4K with some different cards, particularly the 2070 ot 2070 Super? Thanks! -
I agree with your post... the illumination of the moon in 2.5.6 is too bright when using a reasonable gamma that looks good in daylight hours (I use 1.8 per Wags' suggestion). A gamma of 1.2 through 1.4 with moon shining looks more realistic, but I then tend to get some pretty unsightly color banding in the sky and the cockpits get pretty dark.

bump. Especially at night, the F-15C has much less effect on the eyes. Thanks! *Edit* - This MOD (https://www.digitalcombatsimulator.com/en/files/3303009) gets closer to what I'm talking about.

Can I make another humble suggestion? Looking at your signature, it appears that you don't yet have the Hornet. Try the Hornet out (or buy it) during this free for all sale. Really try to master it. Watch some good Youtube videos about the Hornet. Read Orr Kelly's book "Hornet." Etc. I think, after having tasted the Hornet, you might feel more inclined to purchase the Supercarrier. Plus, by the time you're proficient at the Hornet, Supercarrier will be ready to rock. Growing up: these were my favorite fighters (in this order) - 1. F-15C 2. F-16C 3. F-14D ----------- 4. The ugly, wimpy Hornet As I've read books, articles, studied, watched documentaries, played the old Graphsim Hornet PC game, gone to see the Blue Angels many times, and finally delved into DCS's Hornet, my list now goes: 1. Hornet 1b. F-15C --------------- The others. :-)

I bought the Super Carrier on Day 1 of the pre-sale... at that time, it was clearly not anywhere close to ready. I bought it i Pre-Sale because: 1. ED will do their best to deliver their product when it's ready. 2. I only fly the Hornet... I own the Viper, A-10C, P-51D and FC3. But I'm a dig-down-deep simmer and have not the time to master anything else. 3. I only fly the Hornet... Super Carrier? A no brainer. 4. ED will do their best to deliver their product when it's ready.

Agreed, Buzz. This jet is absolutely spectacular, even in its current, unfinished form. It probably doesn't occur to many of us here that, in many ways, ED Devs have it harder than some of the real life jet software developers. Hughes, for example, "only" has to develop all things radar hardware/software. ED has to develop all the software, then model everything else (sunlight, physics, ground AI, air AI, sounds, clouds, radio chatter, the carrier, missiles, tire screetching sounds, etc. etc.) Heck, Hughes doesn't have to paint the jet in real life... ED's team kind of does. Is ED over committed to projects? Absolutely, 100% they are. Are they spread too thin? Of course they are. Do I wish they'd just focus on my favorite project items? (the Hornet, Vulkan API, and Dynamic Campaign) Of course I do. With all that said: They have created a simulation that is impossible for military aviation enthusiasts (like myself) to resist Keep up the hard work, ED! It's not perfect... it's just spectacular.

Regarding the ED Hornet development poll that came out on Friday (Thanks, by the way.): Which if any of those poll items would potentially include the TWS AMRAAM bug of the missing mid-course guidance correction in the Hornet? Thanks!

[REPORTED]FPS Performance Test Mission
wilbur81 replied to wilbur81's topic in Game Performance Bugs
Curious: Are you guys making sure that you are in full screen mode when you test the health bar on/off performance? Again, when i use the "LargeTest1" mission with ground unit movement, alt+entered to fullscreen mode, the health bars on or off don't seem to have any marked effect on my PC. Just curious. -
