Operation Horizon - single player or multicrew
Don Rudi replied to Don Rudi's topic in Missions and Campaigns
@KeyserSoze62 thank you so much, this really means a lot to me. I am working on a mission for the Gazelle currently (maybe two). What'd be interesting to me, what makes this mission (Operation Horizon) better or more enjoyable than it's predecessors Operation Hellenic Dawn and Operation David's Trident? Horizon has much awesome feedback compared to Hellenic Dawn for instance, but just half the downloads, which leaves me a little clueless. -
Good, realistic missions for the Apache?
Don Rudi replied to baksie's topic in Missions and Campaigns
I can't say if it is realistic or not - I call it plausible and the feedback is very positive Operation Horizon or this one, based on/inspired by real events Operation David's Trident -
Operation Horizon - single player or multicrew
Don Rudi replied to Don Rudi's topic in Missions and Campaigns
First of all, apologies for the late reply, somehow I did not receive a notification. And thanks so much for this awesome feedback, it means a lot to me. When I made the mission last summer, never in my wildest dreams would I have imagined that the whole setting would become realistic. -
Just took both skins for a ride, I like them Two notes, if I may: - you need to mirror/flip the national flag in the pilot patch file, as it is displayed backwards currently. - the area on the aar cover looks like a texture was taken to resemble an open receptacle. I have not seen any RDAF F-16 photos where it looks like this. Maybe you could reconsider and leave the cover in normal fuselage grey? Again, big thanks for releasing these

I am not a skinner, just an average user. But when I saw the request for specific Viper skins, I thought "hey that is an easy one, except for the Danish one these are all available already in great quality". Having them made from scratch instead of using what is available appears a strange approach. To pick just one example - it is ironic that we have one livery artist, who's BAF skins are so outstanding, that the Belgian Air Force (the real one) chose him to design a special livery for their milestone jet (a real flying F-16). A livery, that was shown in aviation magazines around the globe. A livery that meanwhile even is available as a decal sheet so his name will be on scale models worldwide. But his skins aren't good enough to be even considered by ED as default skins and have to be created new by someone else? (no offense to the guy who was chosen!) @Roughmaster @wolfthrower @Kerbo 416 even if ED ignores your skins, be assured, we the users know who you are and WE do appreciate your work and we will continue to use your excellent skins! The headline is "livery policy" not livery police! Your comment is basically a slap in the face of everybody creating any form of content for DCS.

No matter what ED will choose, the skins you listed are the gold standard in the eye of the community. They are and will be the skins used by the vast majority, no matter what is included as a default skin.

Hello, I would like to present my "Operation Iron Hail" - a night time low level runway strike The runway at Aleppo airport will be destroyed in a surprise attack before sunrise on 22 October. A single F-16C, callsign HAMMER 710, will be launched from Ramat David Air Base and conduct a night low level attack using Mk82AIR bombs. Perform a night time low level anti runway strike. Hambollah militia groups in Southern Lebanon and South East Syria are increasing their cross border attacks against Northern Israel. So far the attacks have been limited to mortar fire and light rockets, but now the intelligence services received information that Hambollah acquired a large amount of Iranian made Shahed drones - a serious increase in threat level. The first shipment of these drones is expected by air on the morning of 22 October. The shipments will be routed through Aleppo airport. It was decided to prevent this shipment by conducting an anti-runway strike against Aleppo. The runway at Aleppo airport will be destroyed in a surprise attack before sunrise on 22 October. A single F-15E Strike Eagle, callsign HAMMER 710, will be launched from Ramat David Air Base and conduct a night low level attack using Durandal anti runway bombs. As this is a surprise attack, no friendly elements will be near the Syrian airspace during the ingress phase, in order not to alert the enemy. The egress will be covered by a flight of F-15C Eagles and a pair of F-16C Wild Weasels. Required skills: - operate your radio / select radio channels - night flying Mission highlights: + Randomized mission elements, to keep the mission fun when flying a 2nd or 3rd time + custom ATC (do not use in game ATC!) + various F10 radio options + hand crafted approach chart and maps + single player + two miz files for cold start and hot start + 8 page manual in PDF format + >60 quality voice overs https://www.digitalcombatsimulator.com/en/files/3335437/ Enjoy!

I would like to introduce my first mission for the F-15E to you: Operation Iron Hail. A low level, night attack run against the runway at Aleppo. Hello everybody, I was notifyed that a bug slipped into my training campaign - in mission "basic 09 - JTAC/GBU" the lasercode of the bomb did not match the code used by the JTAC. Both codes are now set to 1588. I uploaded the mission as a fix, just paste it into your existing campaign folder. Sooy for the inconvenience. --> https://www.digitalcombatsimulator.com/en/files/3335244/

Hi! Just a little question, I assume we will get the key when the Phantom is released? -
@SkateZilla Could you also phrase this in a way a normal user who needs to repair his 48 downloaded skins can understand it, please?

Please see first post - I completely overhauled the campaign: Changes compared to the old campaign are: - reworked strukture, by dividing the campaign in basic, advanced, exam and graduaiton segments - correction of all sight depression values - Replaced the F1CE by the F1BE for the basic phase training - Inclusion of the F1EE for the advanced and graduation phase - Choise to select the F1CE or F1EE for the exam phase - inclusion of new weapons (e.g. S.530F or Mk 83 bombs) - inclusion of AAR tasks for the F1EE - added appendices for INS alignment and INS waypoint creation in the manual - 40 page instead of 28 page manual The old version of the campaign had 1700+ downloads. https://www.digitalcombatsimulator.com/en/files/3334349/

Thanks for the info. I will only have access to my DCS PC by next week. But I am somewhat relieved it seems to by a general bug of the Apache. -
I can just second that. Performance was always good, but now in a mint mission, with just one helo I am down to 15 fps (RTX 3060). Tested at Rio Grande and Ushuaia. Basically unflyable for me at the moment.

I would love to see a function in the ME, where I can set a transport (helo, APC or transport plane) with a specific cargo at mission start. E.g. An IL-76 with a pair of BTR-80s that is enroute to an airfield and can unload the vehicles upon landing. Of troops already loaded/embarked to an APC/IFV or helicopter, removing the need to pick them up first. This would be a huge boost of the transportation system imho.

I am looking forward to your feedback Yes, the AI software is fun to use. I just wish it could paint aircraft realistically, but that is still impossible -

Good point, @Spirale. I made a poll on the big DCS group on FB and the result suggested that Sinai was pretty well in use already. Maybe it wasn't as representative, as I thought. I keep making missions If my weird little mind comes up with a background story again, it will probably also be in a graphic novel style again. -

Thank you both so much! It was fun going down the graphic novel route I will surely do it again somewhen, if the story allows it. Bottomline, I have to consider the mission being a giant fail. 300 odd downloads in three weeks is nothing and I don't yet understand what went wrong. If it just isn't "Apache time", if it is the story as such, if it is that Apache pilots do not play SP missions anymore - I really am clueless at the moment
