  1. Been there, done that, waiting for the cat and the Felex Tee,.. :)
  2. Oh not really, I ride motor bike as well so used to that side of things. The chair I use has fairly small profile back rest so able to move around more easily as opposed to say an office chair with a large back to get around.
  3. It might also be barf inducing as well, for me the 1:1 tracking helps with the immersion. Although better would be wider field of view with better peripheral resolution. :)
  4. Ah gotcha. :) Waiting for Bo 105 I might break it less often. All of a sudden I'm having problems with rolls in the Gazelle broke 2 last night, boom strike I think. :D
  5. Rigid, Semi-Rigid or Fully Articulated refer to whether the blades can swing lead lag, flap etc. A Rigid head has blades designed to flex to provide the flapping action required to address dissymmetry of lift etc in flight rather then having a hinged and or pivoted arrangement to facilitate flapping and lead lag. The angle of the blade is still controlled via rotation at the root for blade pitch control via swash plate. Rigid Rotor info here. AFAIK The Gazelle has a semi-rigid design with independent blade flapping and lead/lag movement. Good picture of 341 Rotor head here.
  6. Still great practical information thanks. :)
  7. Same document as here. interesting read though none the less. Another thread,..
  8. Yeah can only manage "a fat loop" with Huey but you certainly can throw it around a bit when near empty. I don't really fly the KA-50 a lot but get the idea both rotor and or boom clearance to consider. Gotta watch for neg G's and tail strike in Gazelle.
  9. Yeah it's awesome, Chuck Aaron, this one? Have you tried doing loops in the Gazelle or the Mi-8 yet?
  10. Yeah there are so many combinations of hardware out there and so many PoV's. I guess the question you also need to consider is, are you planing on a lager monitor (or at least higher resolution) or even VR which might impact on component choice? The RIG is actually broken currently mobo sent back for testing, hence my "testing" this RIG. Having said that it's only the CPU and the Intel 750 Series NVMe PCIe SSD of the 5930K RIG that is better than the 9600K build and overall both Rigs hit 99% percentile in Passmark bench testing, what ever that means. Also surprised me is that in Passmark 3D test the 9600K can wangle about 8% more out of the 2080Ti (For DCS testing purposes only. :music_whistling:) than the 5930K I think RAM speed helps here. Nah the most I have seen is maybe 16GB in MP so 32 is a good choice I think. Oh and I wouldn't get into a Gazelle with me if I had a choice,.. :D BTW What is your current GPU?
  11. I just went through this approach as described down to 80KIAS collective 3 to 5 deg AoA started at 3 deg and worked between 3 and 5 deg and perfect landing. Having said that did you adjust the engine controls and not bring them back to power for landing? You fly Mi8 or Mi 17??
  12. Cool.
  13. I have recently done a 9600K build for my wife using my old 1080Ti. Mobo is Asus Prime 390Z cost a bit more and I figured newer intel 9th gen support and all although for a 9600K Prime Z370 should be fine. RAM 4 by Corsair Vengeance 2666 XMP set them to 2800 so I didn't argue. Prime Z370 has 6 SATA on board the only restriction on the Z390 is SATA 5 and 6 share bandwidth with PCIe slot 3 and if you use a SATA M.2 in slot 1 you loose the SATA port 2, I used a SATA-3 SSD so no issue for me and it's heaps fast enough amybe save a couple of $. Performance can't answer for 1070Ti but with the 1080Ti the short test I did with 2560 * 1600 in the SU27 I was getting 80FPS with out of the box settings on the ground in Caucasus and in Rift VR it's solid 45FPS in Caucasus with CPU hitting 32% usage. What is the price difference between 1070Ti and 2070?? (hard to source here) Not much in it though. I'm using the Noctua NH-D15 which seems pretty similar and works a treat. PSU EVGA 750W G2 fully modular but your case and PSU should be fine to go Over all as I had a fair bit of the kit on hand already for the cost of PSU, mobo and CPU I'm very happy with it sure a 9700K might have been better but DCS doesn't seem to utilise my rig much better. The price difference 9600K9700K goes a long way to getting a Rift for my wife who is keen to jump into the Gazelle with me, crazy I know. YMMV
  14. Or there taking bets on if you figure it out,.. :P
  15. But the Gazelle (AP on or off) behaves the same as the Huey and the Mi-8 (with AP off) in regard to roll behaviour. If you have the Huey (and or Mi8 ) you can easily prove this for yourself, the Gazelle, Huey and Mi8 (AP off) will roll with cyclic input and stop rolling when the cyclic is bought back to neutral position then either aerodynamics and or gravity and or further cyclic input will change it.
  16. Possibly, for MP I regularly see 10.something GB of VRAM used out of 11GB (maybe 7GB SP depending.*) I did say possibly because I don't know what impact having 8GB VRAM does for performance. I'd agree on 1080Ti pricing although maybe up to a slightly higher percentage depending. Although at a fair price the 1080Ti would be a reasonable choice performance wise. The thing is I guess on paper GTX 1080Ti, RTX 2080, and Radeon VII look fairly similar although maybe drivers are letting the Radeon VII down a tad. I'm looking forward to hearing about DCS user experience with Radeon VII especially in VR maybe the extra RAM and bandwidth might help. Anandtech review and comparison 1080Ti, 2080, Radeon VII Link
  17. Maybe someone can confirm but you may need a second user account so you can both access a MP server.
  18. Yes I would have expected a lot of resistance even with the rotor static given the size of the rotor head and blades etc, can I assume from that there is a fixed correlation to cyclic position and swash plate relative angle? And that it is always good to have the hydraulics working. That at least answers my question, thanks.
  19. Thanks  Just go through even a couple of times, DCS just stopped prompting, maybe even cancel out of all of the activation prompts when in DCS go into module manager but wait until there is a red square with the number of modules to activate in the module manager icon. I do remember seeing a list box of all my modules and it may well have been in DCS module manager??
  20. I would be a little hesitant doing it that way, I think it's Star Force detecting a hardware/software change and wanting you to activate because of the change. I can't really say regarding dual boot as the unique ID Star Force uses seems to be a combination of OS and hardware and every change may be construed as yet another activation. You can check the number of activations used on any DRM modules in your account at the ED site. The modules covered by the newer system locked to you user name would likely be ok it's been fine so far with testing with different SSD's and even a new install. I have a new PC build that I am testing and going through and cancelling each and every dialog box on an initial startup and I no longer get the repeating Activation requests but now just shows that I have modules in the module manager that I can activate. (Hopefully their will be another module available next week :) ) If you normally use VR it can help to switch to 2d when going through the activation or de-activation process as the various dialog boxes can get lost behind DCS VR.
  21. The other thing I would add is even with auto hover engaged you will drift so you might not think it's engaged I use the tell tale of the torque going up just a tad to indicate that auto hover engaged.
  22. @AlphaOneSix The question here is more, is there a direct mechanical linkage from collective and cyclic to the swash plate albeit with servo assist in normal operation but if you were to get into the pilots position with no engine/systems running and moved the cyclic and or collective would that move the swash plate? :)
  23. Awesome work well done.
  24. I think you will find if you over toque the transmission you get into a situation that you seem to need more collective to maintain speed so toque goes up like a vicious circle. Manual PP 74 Manual section 2.1 And you were doing a goodly 180 to 200Kph,.. :)
