New to VR, I have some questions please.
Leader98 replied to Aussie Pilot's topic in Virtual Reality
I am fiddling around with hand tracking as well but if you are just starting to fly in VR I think you should better concentrate on the flying experience only and add hand tracking in the next steps. As said, your hardware can be limiting, but if you put the settings low enough you might be able to do some flying. DCS in VR is very hardware demanding which can be a strain on your budget -
From https://learn.microsoft.com/en-us/windows/whats-new/feature-lifecycle: The following article lists features that are no longer being developed. These features might be removed in a future release. Deprecated Windows features From https://www.makeuseof.com/tag/deprecated-vs-removed-difference/: Windows users became outraged when they learned that the classic Microsoft Paint will be deprecated in the upcoming Windows 10 Fall Creators Update. While Paint hasn't even seen an update since Windows 7, people started scrambling for alternatives and cursing Microsoft for removing their favorite crappy image editing program. But Microsoft said that it will deprecate Paint in the new update, not remove it. Did you know there's a difference? Removal of a feature means that it's completely gone with no official method to restore it. In some cases, you may be able to download an alternative or use some kind of trick to get it working again. Normally, Microsoft (and other companies) removes features when they're no longer needed. For instance, Desktop Gadgets had security problems, so they're no longer part of Windows. Deprecation, on the other hand, means that the manufacturer discourages a feature's use but leaves it available. Typically, deprecation occurs when a feature is unsafe or gets replaced with a superior alternative. When features are marked for deprecation, you can still use them even though they're not under active development. This allows for backwards compatibility and time for users to migrate to a replacement. But deprecated features often come with a warning recommending other solutions. In future versions, deprecated features often face removal.

The hands work just fine now but flipping the switches is still a challenge. My fingers seem to have some kind of laserbeam that can be used to choose the correct switch but I do not know what gesture I should use to flip the switch. I recalled something about turning this "laser" off but it was too long ago....

Does the change from 32 to 64GB RAM increase performance in general or just in specific cases in DCS?

Got my hands on a friends 4090, now the troubleshooting starts.

You can try removing Windows Mixed Reality and re-installing it. -
My procedure for leap motion working perfectly in DCS
Leader98 replied to Swson's topic in PC Hardware and Related Software
I just installed version 5.7.2 of the Ultraleap software, as I saw this video on Youtube: I followed the instructions in the video (thank you Juan Pedro!) and my hands are perfectly visible in DCS. My hands move just fine but flipping switches is still a challenge. Does anyone have a hint on how to improve the switch operating? -
Thud's guides at VR4DCS are from back in 2021? There must be a more recent guide which explains the OpenXR setup for new DCS pilots? I think the quickstart at https://mbucchia.github.io/OpenXR-Toolkit/ will get you going in no time. The real time consumer is the tweaking for optimal quality & performance afterwards... My advice: Do a basic setup and just enjoy DCS in VR!

I am looking into buying a used Yaw VR (first edition) unit. Does anyone have any experience with it in DCS?

What FPS do you get with a RTX3080 and G2?

Does it make sense to add the CPU in this comparison? -
Reverb G2 Suddenly stopped working. HELP PLEASE!!!!

Can you test the headset and cable on another computer/laptop? -
Some maps and multiplayer missions benefit from more than 16GB of RAM. VR mostly benefits from a fast GPU!

Thrustmaster F/A 18 Grip Flight Stick Add On 200$ CAN (MONTREAL)
Leader98 replied to Rookie1983's topic in For Sale
Crazy price differences worldwide... The F18 grip is only 99 euro in The Netherlands! https://tweakers.net/pricewatch/1472972/thrustmaster-f-a-18c-hornet-hotas-add-on-grip-joystick-zwart.html -
Received mine a few months ago. Installation was a breeze when you just follow the instructions. Worth every penny! My slew control is smoother than when the Warthog set was new out of the box.

Do you see the yellow marks in other programs than DCS? (I think the first screenshot is not from DCS) And if so, did you leave the G2 headset in the sunlight recently? Found this on Reddit:

USB signals are not very demanding on bandwith so I think you will be safe.

I am using a powered USB3 hub which has the option with a button for each connection to switch it on and off. That provides me with an easy option to switch from driving sim to flight sim hardware.

My procedure for leap motion working perfectly in DCS
Leader98 replied to Swson's topic in PC Hardware and Related Software
Just followed these steps and I got a working Leap Motion controller in DCS (beta). I actually flipped some switches in the KA-50. It was GREAT! Thanks @megatech and Dan from Leap Motion! -
Why do you think disconnecting the G2 would make any difference? When running Windows Updates disconnecting the G2 CAN make a difference as it happened twice until now that having the G2 connected resulted in a broken Windows update...

Plywood and some plastic pipe will create a nice VR pit (in VR you will not notice the wood and plastic )

Just a longshot: If the LeapC.dll file is the thing that is incompatible with DCS, should it be worth to try if installing the 5.2 version of the Leap software and only replacing the LeapC.dll file with the 5.0 version works in the Visualizer and in DCS?
-
Version 5.2 of the Ultraleap software has been released. See https://developer.leapmotion.com/gemini-release-notes?utm_source=email&utm_medium=newsletter&utm_campaign=spatial&utm_content=gemini I didn't have time to check it out yet.

My collective arrived today. It was very sturdy packaged and the delivery time was 14 days (5 days from customs in the Netherlands to my home). Thank you Mikhail!

Strange, there is no MixRealityDriver folder in my Steam folder>steamapps>common>... There is a SteamVR folder on that location but there is no OpenVRSettingsUX.exe in Steam folder>steamapps>common>SteamVR>bin>win64 EDIT: Found the wanted file on Steam folder>steamapps>common>MixedRealityDriver>bin>win64>OpenVRSettingsUX.exe on another drive (was initially checking the C-drive only).
