  1. That's odd. I always felt that visual fidelity supports simulation fidelity - at least as long as we fly planes with windows and fight targets that are more than a blip on the radar.
  2. The R2-unit is seriously undermodelled in this video. :P
  3. For usage on a desk there is no better HOTAS than CH Pro Throttle + CH Fighterstick. While there is virtually no difference between the general layout e.g. of the Warthog and the Fighterstick, the Throttle makes a huge difference. It's not really modelled after any aircraft AFAIK. But it has all it's tons of buttons in reach no matter what throttle-setting. Linear throttle-movement is the magic word. I also prefer the Pro Throttle's Ministick over any alternative on the market. It's very precise and allows great handling of the TargetingPod/TDC in DCS as well as lateral and vertical thrusters both in EliteDangerous and StarCitizen. I literally use it as a second joystick for these spacesims. I wouldn't go for the Combatstick. The Fighterstick offers more buttons for little less money. I can only speak for myself, but this thumb-hat is the one I use the most. One comment on the buttons and hats: The Combatstick and Fighterstick have no dual-stage triggers. No problem for me, but I had another discussion about this being a standard for modern joysticks. I don't think so. However, this should be stated. The Coolie-Hats are not 100% accurate as in the F-16 or A-10C. The hats have been reshaped for easier usage and also the resistance is much lower than e.g. that of the Warthog-Buttons. Not realistic, no, but it makes working with the HOTAS very comfortable.
  4. For MINIMUM requirements? Name an example, please.

    Absturz

  6. He will steal that F-16 and crash it.
  7. If you are refering to war-movies, that's probably because e.g. Germany didn't participate in many declared wars till then. But in general, there is only a very limited number of European movies about war at all, compared to other themes.
  8. Good point, cichlidfan. That's one reason why it's PROFILE for me. One other reason is programming in layers: If you use the pinky-button as shift-function, you can map twice as many macros to your HOTAS. That makes up for the buttons that you don't use in the real HOTAS, like zoom, using mirrors and stuff. I also got eject, mastercaution, some CMSP-elements and lighting-control mapped. You can also use the profile for adjusting input-parameters and more complex scripting, as well as switching between input-profiles (e.g. one for normal flight operations, one for air-to-air-refueling, etc.)
  9. To me it looks more like: Before you get your hands on the F-18 your beards will be thaaaaat long :P
  10. The nosecone moves sideways, when it's sniffing for signs of enemy.
  11. Don't worry. The wear rubber on all extended parts.
  12. Mine is ok, but that might be my tinfoil-hat. You never know who's trying to scramble your brain.
  13. Quite on topic, indeed. Let me reformulate the question: Does ED not have more important projects than doing the L-39 right now? :music_whistling:
  14. So can be percentages: Is a radar really just 2 times as precise in aiming and measuring speed as a human eye at maximum distance? Can a radar-guided gun effectively engage a target at just 1.8 times the range of the human eye under any circumstances? Is a human aimed gun just 3 times as precise as fully computerized targeting system?
  15. Probably the same as in the launches before that: The first missile-stage. You can see that in the other launches before your mark. Just the first stage seems to be blown to pieces for most of the missiles, rather than pushed away. I asume that this is implemented as a safety measure for ship-based or other mobile launches. The explosion and falling parts could cause damage to the launching sub or vehicle below.
  16. Looks like the plane broke up before crashing, so this shouldn't be a surprise at all. You can see in the video how far away the debris is scattered around the actual fire.
  17. This soft penalty thing is a real gamechanger. You can bite, bodycheck, kick in the back, trample upon and punch with the elbow, as long as you don't disturb an attacker on the run down the field. It weakens tactical strong teams, promotes hardness and it costs the players health. I sure hope this will change with the next tournaments...
  18. The European and World-Champion is just being sent home by Chile. :poster_oops:
  19. That's just different strategies. Against enduring runners technical, slow and coordinated play with many exact passes may be the best counter-tactic.
  20. If that temperature-theory was true, Portugal should have had an easy play against Germany.
  21. When he kicked that ball and hit that single man standing still in front of the wide open goal, I really thought Ronaldo was going to cry. :music_whistling: Lahm probably said: "YOU SHALL NOT PASS!" I also loved that scene close to the end of the game, where the two Portuguese players l tried to take the ball from each other.
