  1. When comparing the mirror, is the headset off? Have you tried putting your finger over the sensor that turns the headset on (between the eyes at the top) and seeing if the mirror is better. I know sometimes the mirror doesnt work well for me when the headset is off.
  2. Those have been there for a long time.
  3. Fingers still crossed, but it appears I may be getting a prototype as a backer to give them feedback on. Again, nothing set in stone, but the discussion I've had with Pimax seems like this is the case. Hopefully I can get you guys some info sooner rather than later. Will keep you guys posted (if possible, some YouTube content will be available as well, need to figure out the details first tho)
  4. Obviously, but to get to 4k you should find settings that work now, at 1.5 PD or greater, and once a 4k device is in your hands, in theory you can just dump the PD to 1.0 and have ~same performance.
  5. Nah, you just wont need 1.5+ PD on 4k displays. 1.5 is already over 4k so it should be fine.
  6. MP has issues right now, loading into the server takes time, you have to wait it out, there is another hit when you pit into a plane, and then more lag for every other player jumping in a plane that hasnt been loaded for you before.
  7. If you havent already, check this out https://forums.eagle.ru/showthread.php?t=194778 It explains a lot of the settings in detail
  8. I don't mean to hijack the OP from their issues, but you have some very serious issues with your setup, or setup of DCS. I have a 6700k and a 1080Ti and I get a constant 45+. Can you post a screenshot of your settings
  9. Interesting last i tested it with DCS, in particular recording with it, it was black bars, i've seen some streams with it too. Wonder if it has to do with recording or streaming in particular.
  10. Oculus mirror has an issue when moving your head left, you get a black bar for some reason, not ideal for streaming or recording imo.
  11. Interesting, noted and will report, thanks!
  12. From here: This is what i mean by resolution (rendering not presenting)
  13. There is a checkbox in options (i forget what tab) to sync your HOTAS on startup, uncheck it, it saved a bad value
  14. Correct and as a goal they have already said this would be a core technology... in 5 years as an estimate. What I'm getting at is in the interim, the current technology requires render targets of different resolutions blended into the resolution of the HMD. I am fully aware of how it could work, My points in particular are related to the OP's discussion, regarding NVidia's technology and that ED would probably roll their own implementation in order to not benefit 1 card manufacture over another, as they have always done.
  15. HMD setup doesnt use your Aspect Ratio or your Resolution in settings. They are completely ignored. This is just a bug, and I believe it is documented, but will double check.
  16. Known bug and documented
  17. Right, but it requires the engine to specifically render the scene in different resolutions, not just something generally left up to VR software.
  18. Glad to hear it helped! As for it being at a driver level, it would still need to be activated via the game, and via the API.
  19. Except ED has stated they will not implement manufacture specific technology because it gives an disadvantage to those without it. Foveated rendering is a NVidia VRWorks technology and API.
  20. Neat, glad this is moving along, really wish they wouldn't have taken the Pimax route of PR on this though. It is not a 78% increase in resolution, it is an increase in 78% more pixels, and a 33% increase in resolution. Also shocked no FOV increase (or at least i didnt see any mention of it)
  21. From my experience, Eagle Dynamics doesn't implement card manufacture API's so things like NVidia Game Works, wont be used. They would probably have to roll their own implementation so that all customers (NVidia and ATI users) could experience the same level of performance.
  22. Captain Orso, i dunno what else to say, maybe im just not explaining myself correctly, you obviously have a great understanding of how things work, so maybe we are saying the same thing, maybe we arent, but when I put on my oculus with 1.0 PD and see missiles come off the rail at 20+ miles and take a screenshot... then the same on a 4k Monitor by taking a screenshot and zooming into the images to see it... its 1 pixel, Try it for yourself.
  23. 12 bit to 14 bit is a pretty large difference in precision, we are talking 4096 to 16384, thats 4x the range
  24. Correct, this is what i see, (if you can see it in 4k, pixels are so small) 2.2 and 1.5 this is the same thing. As for imposters, thats usually a discussion of LOD, but even with the lowest LOD, a dot is a dot to the rasterizer. This is why if you get in a plane in VR, with 1.0 PD and no MSAA, you can see 120's come off the rail on a bandit at like 20 miles no problem (obviously you shouldnt launch this far). The dot is just visible. In 4k, this would be hard to see, because the pixels are much smaller.
  25. I don't know the inner workings of how DCS renders things at a distance. I just know that leaving on my monitor, if i render at 1080, the same scene at 4K, objects in the distance do not reduce < 1 pixel in any fashion. Meaning, if its 1 pixel at 4k, its 1 pixel at 1080p.
