I do appreciate having the somewhat classic training session as well, though. Over the years we have seen many styles of those and I trust we all have our favourites.

Lets not get all ahead of ourselves, maybe do a Mosquito FB Mk. VI first.

It does not always make sense, but here are a few things for your consideration: 1. Planes on the ground are notoriously tricky because the logic deciding when the plane is actually destroyed doesn't always trigger there, as there is no final impact. You need either an explosion, a pilot kill or have your opponent eject, to have a kill counted. In other words: people who just remain seated in their wrecked up plane can screw you over here. 2. Head-ons are a bit of a crap-shoot anyway, and doubly so here. The same logic applies, in that your opponent having a singular lucky hit in your forehead will grant him a kill, even if you are both equally dead. You cannot collect on kills once you are legally dead, so only one of you gets a kill. 3. Some multiplayer servers don't actually have a full scoreboard going. It is possible that only losses are counted as well. 4. I don't know what to tell you, why should the - arguably not very important - bit of the multiplayer scoreboard, out of all things, work without bugs?

This. I never got interested in it much because to me the JF-17 was (and to be honest, still is) somewhat obscure.

As MAXsenna said, it's probably fine. Don't obey in advance, admins will delete it if they mind. Was just a bit of a blast from the past there; the rules have changed about that, and for a while they were enforced strictly enough that I at least avoid mentioning any other games by name.

It'll be soon™

Oh boy, back in 2009 we were allowed to discuss other sims in the off-topic section still.

So you are saying the mysterious delay is even worse than I thought. That's not unsettling at all...

Those two sure are among the prime examples of a) yes, it seems to take years and b) interestingly, in the years between showing off the model in a newsletter and them actually being implemented, very little on them changed. I bet it takes a while to make these things, but the very examples you picked are also showcasing how that is doubly true when ED is involved...

There is a thread asking about it up there in the MiG-29 area and they were rather quick to point out that they 'were experimenting with it' and there is no intention of making it an actual feature there, let alone a general feature. Not exactly beating certain allegations, but it is what it is.

Speaking of Mi-8 liveries... a) Yes, please, an official GDR livery would be very much needed b) Perhaps an ED intern could go through the liveries and give them proper names? 75% of them are called 'FICTIONAL ARMY' with no indication of which bloody army, which is a bit of a nuisance.

Does not compute?

Which colour do you want your dragon to be?

@ThorBrasil was so kind as to share some info from, I reckon, Discord to another thread here.

We can't extend the map all the way to Idaho, guys...

Nobody crashing out, nobody colliding, nobody warp-jumping with network troubles? No way this is a DCS multiplayer server...

I doubt there is a lot of money to made in this. Contrary to a racetrack, there is not much of a way to force people to pass by these billboards much. Be that as it may, I would the M230 punches properly positioned holes through the Meta billboard...

Here's the thing: a lot of military radio traffic basically is puzzle-like pieced together phrases. Sure, the 'seams' of these bits could be done better, but that is less of a 'we need AI to synth new audio in real time' problem and more of a sound design problem. That, also, can easily be shown with other sims from 20 years ago. The other important thing is, that as far as I'm concerned, the 'poor intonation and lack of variety in phrasing' just frankly is the least important of the weak points of DCS' radio communications. Is there some potential in it? Sure, I guess. But I feel it is wasting resources (both in dev time and in user computer power) on the wrong things.
-
Certainly doable and not requiring any of the pointless nonsense we have come to know as 'AI' in recent years. Other games have done it rather well 20 years ago.
-
Good thing you are close to the release then!

Voice recognition, shmoice recognition. Would it be a cool to have feature? Oh, certainly. But seeing how the ATC system is barely functional at all in DCS, I would vote for reworking its core functionality first before attempting any such shenanigans.

Is there any rough timeframe? Just asking so we can schedule our next fabricated outrage accordingly.
