1. Sure, instead of just clicking in the buton box you right click it and pick advanced command, this lets you edit the exact keys you press release etc and you can click on the times to edit them( I believe Miliseconds) You just double the keypress in the release box. The programming pdf file is helpfull(It should be included with the programing software), so are the forums over at saitek. If you're having a hard time, post up your profile here and I can try to edit it for you.
2. You know with the SD6 software you can download an x52 or x52 pro profile and reuse the functions they already made. It's a huge timesaver, just load up the profle and change the dropdown to X45 and then you can use every funtion that they have made without having to do all the typing yourself. I know it's not exactly what you want but there aren't a ton of X45 users left and I donated mine to a friend :P
3. I read this in the saitek support forum before.... When you are programing your profiles it does record all the presses and the pauses in between etc, you just don't see them as you do in a macro. Try holding the keys a bit longer when you program. Also another tip was to add an additional "release" keystroke to the ones giving you problems. This should take care of it for you.
4. If you do a rearm you may as well wait for the 2 or 3 minutes to elapse so you get repaired. If memory serves me right, when it repairs, all your switches etc get set back to defaults. I have not waited several times , only to fly back out and not have a working laser. Very frustrating.
5. I wonder if the hat switch to slew the shkval in the real Ka-50 is more like a mouse stick or if it is really a 4 button hats switch like we have on our joysticks.?
6. It's the Millenium edition...or was it Second Edition.... It's probably just a bunch of bugfixes and enhancements that should have been in Vista in the first place. Nothing revolutionary , just evolutionary....The days of service pack 3 or 4 are gone. They will just sell you a new OS every 2 years.
7. Thus we have a 486DX4 in our beloved Blackshark :)
8. Thats a pretty good idea. I never used my N52 for much more than FPS games...shelved it when I bought the X52Pro. That would work great for a DIY cockpit also. Are you having any kind of conflicts with your CH software or anything? I've always wondered if 2 devices that send keyboard and have programing could peacfully coexist and both be usable.
9. XP64 has pretty poor driver support if I remember correctly. Not many adopters. MS gave me a copy free but I had to give up a liscense for XP to get it. I haven't used it in 2 years since Vista came out so things may be a bit better now but I doubt it. It wasn't a very stable OS.
10. -Use Helmet Mounted Sight to quickly get the shkval into the target area then fine tune with slewing. This coupled with the auto turn on target enables you to quickly take out targets. -When flying at high altitude or over mountains don't forget to turn on the engine and rotor heaters on the overhead panel or you will be icing up and have power loss and crash. -Map a key to trim reset (in addition to the trim button). If you start getting uncontrollable turning with the AP channels on or having problems with auto turn on target , this will usually fix it. Soon as you reset though your nose will pitch up so just hit reset, then trim it again right away. -Map a key to the collective brake, this has the dual function of also setting the altitude when you have the altitude channel on your autopilot turned on. Use it like the trim button. -
11. Definately a nice mod. Another plus is that it could help you locate where you're being fired on from. There always seems to be something hidden right next to the treeline you can't see unless your at a high altitude.
12. Are you sure your not in arcade mode? 2 different control setups. I don't think the trim does anything in arcade( I only played it a few times in arcade so it's not 100%) Kind of weird that it works in a training and not a normal flight. But if you are "jumping in" on a training flight I believe you are using what was setup exactly for that track so by default it would be full realism?
13. This was the only thing I find in the book: Yaw indicator. Indicating the yaw of the aircraft, this indicator displays a ball in a liquid filled tube. If there is no yaw in the flight path, the ball will be centered. If there is yaw, the ball will be displayed in the opposite direction of yaw. The sideslip indication ball moves by local acceleration so it will not always display the actual sideslip. This depends much on the type of maneuver you are flying.
14. I'm sure someone will correct me if I'm wrong....My guess would be that the ball is representing the "body" of the Ka-50. Your rotor is not always in a fixed parallel plane in relation to the body of the helicopter, it changes when you move the cyclic. So what your doing is trying to level the body of the helicopter while your rotor is in a different angle, thus you side slip etc. I think in this situation it doesn't represent what you do in a fixed wing aircraft. Get it flying straight ahead then look at your external view, you will see what I mean.
15. I think I have seen servers as high as listed as 32 but they have never been full. Realistically it can probably handle 16 people(depending on your hardware)
16. Very nice skin Quick question: are the bullet holes part of the skin or is it just because you have battle dammage?
17. Look at my specs in my sig. The most I get is about 50 FPS with the affinity trick. I'd say you are getting average FPS. Maybe try updating your BIOS or chipset drivers. The other poster is right high AA will kill your FPS. Another big hit in the game is water. If you run it on the highest settings you will get bad performance. Also if you are comparing systems make sure you both load up in the exact same area or mission because large airbases or citys will cause huge FPS drop.
18. Dunno if its's been posted before but it is funny...Looks like the Russian version of airwolf. I'm guessing that the guys at ED were fans of this show when they were youngsters thats why they chose to model the Ka-50 :megalol:
19. Well here's the REAL redwolf.....he kicks ass :)
20. A little less forward speed might help. I've tried this too....even from a hover :) What I want to know is how the pilot in the Kamov video is able to spin so easily with the AP chanels on doing all his manovers....he hits the trim very few times...maybee only 3 or 4 the whole time. Watch this and you will see what I mean: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=y0kOfRaTsYs
21. Just remember don't always run the anti ice for engines....Only use as needed because I think it lowers your engine perfomance.
22. Well then ....It's easy...if you want more contracts start mailing out copys of DCS to people who make these contracts. A few shameless plugs of ones own product never hurt anything.
23. A user figured out this little gem. From what I've read I've never seen it mentioned from any of the testers etc. The only offical response on the Vista thing was that Vista handled memory differntly and as a result it caused the game to run slower or something to that effect.
24. Nice! By the looks of it you must be a plumber.
25. The Ka-50 is gritty, fun and challenging all rolled into one.....I could care less if it's the latest and greatest airframe. It has just enough of an electronics suite to make this a great single seat sim. Theres lots to learn for study sim guys, theres stuff for squads and teamplay...something for everyone. It is a refreshing idea away from the standard:turn on radar, lock target, fire...rinse repeat...That gets old fast. This thing takes skill and time to get good at so I doubt it will go up on the shelf very soon for me (Like so many of the older cookie cutter sims of the 90's) IMO it's a great choice to model and was a great idea to put the arcade mode in so people can still jump in and play and have fun without dumming it down for everyone like an Xbox.
