If they had the Phantom and not the Hornet/Tomcat/Eagle etc you'd be saying the same thing about them. It's almost like they can only do so many things at one time @@

Ultimately, those designations don't mean anything and are subject to vagaries of politics and ''image'' as well as bizarre organisational doctrines. For example up into the sixties, the same plane was apt to have different designations altogether depending on if it was being used by the Air Force or Navy. Then there was the ''unification'' drive supposed to make everything less complicated and the numbering system started over. There's gaps inexplicably, sometimes due to prototypes (ie the YF-17 became the F-18, and the F-20 was stillborn, but 19 was skipped altogether). In the case of the F-35, Lockheed itself supposedly expected it to be the F-24 (and purportedly refers to it as such internally), but the guv decided to go with F-35 so it sounded more *waves hands* FUTURISTIC *end waving of hands*

NEW ZEALAND ISN'T REAL IT'S A TORY PLOT DEVICE TO EXPLAIN HOW.MICHAEL JACKSON DIED

Just dropping a line to say thanks for the CAP, with China as a growing major power and their own increasingly unique tech tree (as it were), it's super nice that they're getting the attention they deserve!

Just as a PSA, after initial teething problems, I have my G2 dialed in pretty well now, and I resolved the controller tracking issues I had with them zooming all around the plane when not held onscreen. In short, turn off any and all LEDs (keyboard backlighting, throttle backlighting, etc) as they confuse the tracking (which is LED based). Now I can set them in my lap and they behave normally. -edited for clarity

Tracking issue. Need to close everything out and reboot the headset to fix it usually. Had it happen to me on rare occasions.

It's absolutely possible for the AI to lose track of you if you just break and run, especially if you dive into a valley or other obstruction. Had it happen multiple times, in particular recently a MiG-29 chasing me, I dove for the deck and started weaving, after a minute I realised he was gone and found him 20 miles away heading back to his last waypoint.
-
Already been happening all along. At least some of the AI assets were created by the community.

This is one of the most tired topics around these forums unfortunately, and in many cases addressed by devs themselves in their own FAQs (which as we all know, nobody ever reads). Setting aside all other issues and focusing on the mod specific issues, we'll use the A-4 as our example (also something directly addressed by them multiple times). The reason mods are often not suitable for absorption AT ALL is most of them are collaborations by anywhere from several to dozens of people over years, not all of whom remain active on the project. It is not up to simply the current team, ED, or McD. It is ALSO up to EVERYONE WHO EVER WORKED ON IT, because otherwise you're stealing someone else's work. To do it LEGALLY requires permission from ALL involved parties, which after YEARS of development and DOZENS of contributors is a near impossibility to acquire. For the 9,000,000th time, there is no easy way to simply gobble up mods without a lot of additional groundwork, that's why NOBODY ANYWHERE DOES IT. The examples of mods being absorbed into a game involve single or small groups where it was feasible to actually meet all the legal requirements. Being ''free'' doesn't change that. There is no magic loophole nobody ever thought of. Mods are inherently often not suitable for integration into a commercial product in cases where they are, there is usually a pipeline for people to submit their work and certain ''boxes that have to be ticked''. Those ''annoying procedures harshing your buzz'' are there for a reason.

Too many of these guys take the mentality ''if this or that dev is making a *insert thing I don't like* then they aren't making *insert thing I do like*''. No, the devs make things that THEY like (because it sucks years of their lives) and if some random 3rd party from MSFS wants to make a 172 (for example) and don't want to have to deal with complex avionics like on an EA-18 and you don't let them do it, then you don't get an EA-18, you just get nothing and so does ED's revenue stream.

In my day, we didn't even have words! We just had sticks! And we were damn glad to have 'em, too!

The Harrier sound used to be a noticeable loop and lacked the turbine whine when setting down, but they fixed both those a long time ago when they did the audio overhaul. Don't know if you've tried it recently, but imo it's good now and I quit using modded audio.

I got the job done without too much fuss (once I realised what the lights are actually indicating) but yeah, they were still difficult to make out.
-
In general, if you can't put it in the cart for checkout, you shouldn't make any plans around it. As for MAC specifically, I personally haven't seen or heard anything about it in a long time, I'm guessing they ran into some complications.
-
There's no fixing that. You get a new plane.

SHHHH! We discussed this, and I thought it was understood nobody was to tell him about the newly discovered THIRD TELEPORTATION METHOD!!1!
-
Don't be silly! Everybody knows you can't exceed four times the speed of light in RPMs!
-
Short version : it's not Medium version : it reduces the range radars lock on to you up to a point, after which the radar locks normally Long version : Use search, and read any of the many threads discussing this to your heart's content. But as mentioned above, the implementation is very limited and not really related to how real world ECM works. FC3 or study is irrelevant, as there is no ''ECM'' simulation to speak of in the game, so the only difference is apt to be how many buttons you have to push before triggering the ''radar debuff''.

Oooooh, I like that one!

New PC build for DCS. Assistance required
Mars Exulte replied to FL_zero's topic in PC Hardware and Related Software
Instead of the NVMe and HDD, I'd just get a single SATA SSD in the 4TB range. Also, 32gb of RAM. Otherwise, it's fine. -

NEW DCS SOVIET AIRCRAFT from 2022 Trailer... MiG-27???
Mars Exulte replied to CommandT's topic in DCS 2.9
Yeah, that's why I said that :) Also true. We're basing our speculation off previous rumors and now a gunsight, afterall. Yeah, I know, some of them were offshoot variants branched off the E, but we're not going to get 47 versions of whatever it is, so the 'parent variant' will end up a standin for everything else. But yeah, you're right. Technically, the B-29 was Pacific theater for that matter, and even then I'm pretty sure it's only known as the nuke dropper. When people think of WWII they think of B-17s almost exclusively, peripherally aware of the B-29 due to the nuke, and the B-24 out there barely recognised (ironic considering it was arguably superior and was produced in larger numbers, but then it didn't have any movies made about it either afaik) That's what we're best known for =) -
NEW DCS SOVIET AIRCRAFT from 2022 Trailer... MiG-27???
Mars Exulte replied to CommandT's topic in DCS 2.9
F-4's have been flown by the following countries : Greece (We have Cyprus and Turkey on the Syria map) (F-4Es, specifically) Iran (We have on the Persian Gulf map) (also F-4Es) South Korea (Also F-4Es) Turkey (Same as #1) (Also F-4Es) Australia (Also F-4Es) Egypt (Also F-4Es) Germany (Also F-4Es) Israel (Syria map, ALSO F-4Es) Japan (ALSO F-4Es) Spain (Actually not Es, but you thought I was going to say it!) UK (Not Es) And lastly, the US and A (Es, among others, obviously) We have five of those countries and maps to fly them on where they historically flew. The E is also not a Vietnam era aircraft, being more 1980s as I understand. Regardless, while it's an iconic aircraft of Vietnam in the American imagination, it flew in multiple other theaters, including in US service, that we have available, and is NOT limited to "Vietnam" for the rest of the world. "very limited scenarios" @@ If your imagination is also very limited, I suppose so. -
This plane is inferior to the AV-9X Super Harrier III. That is the plane the guy from Green Mile will use to kick ALIEN INFILTRATORS LIKE SUBS17 off the Earth and send you all back with to PLANET JOCKSTRAP with JOHN TRAVOLTA. There you will be incarcerated and forced to wear PLATFORM SHOES for the rest of your life.
