  1. Server is back up now that ED master server has been restarted
  2. Perfect, thanks! worked a charm
  3. Detailed report on suitability of the Pacific (Marianas) map for Storm of War server missions is here: https://stormofwar.info/documents/SoW-034-MarianasEvaluation_v03.pdf
  4. Grimes, I am having some trouble with allowing players back into the server that have been banned via the penaltystats file. Using the command "-admin unban" with their player name is resulting in the response that no such player is on the ban list. However, the player reports being unable to join the server and is getting the SL-MOD banned message. The bannedclients.lua file is empty Is suspect it is their accumulated penalty points which are preventing them from joining, but I cannot work out how to reduce the points total, or to have their penalties removed. Any ideas how I can alllow them back in without deleting the penaltystats file entirely?
  5. Server Campaign Ribbons for June have been awarded: https://stormofwar.net/2021/07/02/july-2021-sow-medals-investiture-for-june-2021/
  6. Indeed. ED seem to not have an interest in delayed fusing for the Luftwaffe bombs, or the Allied GP bombs. There's no reason to believe from what we have received as customers over the past year or so, that any kind of delayed fusing is going to be delivered.
  7. Yikes. This one is a goodie.
  8. Easy win for ED to tweak these values, surely?
  9. 3 years ago? . . . This one is almost up there with multiplayer trains then . . . yikes!
  10. 2 years later! This was "reported" 2 years ago?
  11. If historically accurate it should be in the 250 to 300 yard range.
  12. 1. The explanation of what weapons are available is provided in the briefings. You will find this under NOTAMS OR just above the description of the air-to-ground taskings for that mission. See the image below as an example. 2. DCS does not provide spawn-position information when the F10 map icons are off (which is the case on SoW). However, you will get used to the airfield layouts and spawn locations, just as everyone else has. Your compass in the cockpit, the position of the sun and the windsocks can help you work out where you are on the airfield. Part of what it means to fly on Storm of War is to learn these kinds of things (airfield layouts, runway orientations, major landmarks etc). It's all part of the intended learning process that comes with flying on the server. It is true that this is not necessarily the easiest option for newer players, but this is an accepted design principle with SoW. 3. Do NOT use the load-out pre-sets from the drop-down menu. Click on each pylon on the aircraft to check was is available, and what is loaded on.
  13. This is one of the most famous development omissions/ product deficiencies to date. It's become a pretty long running joke now (next to the never-released C-47 AI asset).
  14. The Storm of War WW2 server is regularly the most populated server in all DCS, jets servers included. Many hundreds of players in the player base. The discord is also very active, so maybe jump on there: https://discord.com/invite/4Csg6E7
  15. It's only a problem for multiplayer where the server operator wants players to use skill and airmanship, navigation being one of the fundamental skills. That's it. A narrow application. Making it a server option for those who want it so harms no other players. Just in the same way that restricting air frames, or maps, or weapons or external views on a server harms nobody else. Some people want the OPTION to force it off for their server, just like all the other options that are available. Why not let them have it?
  16. It stuns me that this issue is still not resolved. . . we've had this problem for years now.
  17. If I had a customer who "suggested" I do some work (that went beyond agreed contract), I'd probably not do it. I think we are requesting a purchase order. Alternatively, if ED are not willing to put out a specific order for this work, maybe ask Ugra for a quote and get back to me with the price.
  18. Here is a pretty typical sequence from the SoW server log. As you can see the player was recorded as DEAD before they bailed out. I will discuss what I think should be done about this down the bottom. As you can imagine, for multiplayer servers, this scenario results in a lot of complaints and questions because the player thinks they bailed out without dying. However, DCS records a death. 2021-06-02 14:36:53.678 INFO Scripting: event:type=pilot dead,t=9110.251,initiatorPilotName=ssun_g0d,initiatorMissionID=42, 2021-06-02 14:36:56.498 INFO Scripting: event:type=eject,initiatorPilotName=ssun_g0d,target=,t=9113.058,initiatorMissionID=42,targetMissionID=0, 2021-06-02 14:37:15.349 INFO Scripting: event:type=crash,t=9131.919,initiatorPilotName=ssun_g0d,initiatorMissionID=42, The problems here are many. 1. There is currently very little in the way of visual or audio feedback for a player which is injured, especially from fire (WW2 new damage model). This means that for players they think they are OK, when in fact they are wounded, maybe mortally 2. There seems to be a mortally-wounded state where the pilot is "dying" but not yet dead. DCS already logs a player death, but the player is still able to bail out (at which point their vision is completely clear and there is no indication of being wounded/ dead). The player will then happily float down in their parachute, blissfully unaware that they are, in fact, dead. 3. It is possible to bail out even at extremely low altitudes and at crazy airspeed. There are no G, altitude or speed limits on being able to bail out. This results in players suddenly hitting "ctrl + E" a split second before they crash, in order to avoid death. The successful deployment of a parachute is not logged as an event, so simply initiating the eject sequence is enough. What I'd like to see: 1. Better visual/ audio indication of player being wounded, which also carries over to when they are in the parachute. A lot of games do this with red-out or red-edging on the screen. It doesn't need to be Gory or trigger any kind of mature content. 2. Limits on when a player can bail out (G limits and/or Airspeed limits) 3. A new EVENT to be added to/ recorded in the log when a player's parachute safely deploys. The current logged event is just the "eject" event. This is pretty pointless because it only records the moment they hit the eject key. It does NOT record whether or not the ejection was successful (i.e. safe parachute deployment). This is probably the most important of the three, as it would de-facto solve a few issues at once.
  19. Campaign Ribbons for the month of May have been awarded. Congratulations to all recipients: https://stormofwar.net/2021/06/02/june-2021-sow-awards-investiture-for-may-2021/
  20. Some ground units seem to be unable to fire/ direct their AA correctly. Video below and link to trk file: https://drive.google.com/file/d/1C8pfJqN-tSNo3UIEryMdXMOkc6-Z4iwD/view?usp=sharing
  21. Server month end update https://stormofwar.net/2021/06/01/may-2021-month-end-update/
  22. Pilot dead, or In parachute, or On the ground and stationary (engine can be on).
  23. Also, to the OP, do NOT take the defualt fuel load. Reduce it down to about 20%. That's loads of fuel in the P51 and will make the aircraft more longitudinally stable.
  24. If you want to know how much of it is the AI's behavioral modelling, then you need to put the AI in the same aircraft as yourself. How does the AI handle to P51 up at 28000ft, fighting against you also in a P51?
