  1. Thrustmaster T1600 As said above, check axis bindings, sometimes weird combos happen. Whenever I get a new module I take it for a free flight, just to check out if it’s going to go out of control (also I have several axis controllers and I have to delete multiple “view” settings from mini-joystick bindings)
  2. I’m thinking autonomous drones will be the future.
  3. The Blackbird is definitely the fastest...but the 111 is close behind, and carries a LOT of bombs!
  4. Just curious, but does everyone have the INS CTD and/or the other mentioned bugs?
  5. Cow Pies from Above!
  6. Build and fly. I do find that building can take up more time than flying, and sometimes I don't want to fly until "just one more" panel is built. However since my cockpit is loosely based on the SU-25T, I find that "immersion" is reduced with flying other planes since the switches aren't in the same places. Land gear lever is always in the same place, so that gets used a lot. I'm thinking about dismantling the cockpit because it takes up a bit of floor space (3' x 5') and making desktop clamp-on boxes with a limited number of switches.
  7. Damn dude....that is the BEST video showing heavy air combat I've seen! Music is awesome, very appropriate! Opening sequence is definitely an "OH CRAP!" moment! :clap_2:
  8. Very sad. Fortunately not all died, and one even had “minor injuries.” That’s an excellent crash landing imho. I’d still go up in a WW2 warbird!
  9. Re: specifically the B52 multicrew...no. I really do not understand the attraction some have to being in anything other than the pilots’ seats. The F14 RIO, yes, because it’s a fast changing environment... but it seems to me the “basement” of a -52, while cool in real life, would be mind-numbing after a handful of missions. I could be wrong, buuuut even if one could find 100 4-person crews, chances are most of those would soon be asking for a transfer to another plane...ANY plane. Personally, I’d rather see: 1. Current modules being completed; 2. Module verification returning to the old way of doing it and not requiring online access every couple of weeks. (What happens if ED goes belly-up in a few years? Two weeks after that happens, all the time and $$ invested by the players in modules, cockpits, etc become worthless. And not to be a Debbie Downer, but all companies eventually succumb to market forces or gov’t interference) 3. Multicrew is not bad in itself, but the focus on DCS (imho) is on fighters. This could be extended to light- or medium-bombers, and heavy fighters. B-25, Mosquito, A-20, F-111 etc. Anyways, just my $0.02, thanks for reading.
  10. It’s good to stay proficient with the “dumb” weapons, not just the fancy ones. At the beginning of a war, sure weapons stocks are full, but over time the ability to make and/or transport the weapons from factory to the Front may be degraded. The aircraft would also not carry a 100% loadout. A “late war” mission should reflect this for the side that’s losing.
  11. I’d suggest using the Mission Editor...the window that allows one to change fuel amounts, armaments etc also give the weight of the aircraft as configured.
  12. Valkyries assist the Viggen during climbs.
  13. LOL, that’s pretty cool!
  14. Not a nuke, but a significant weapons storage facility. Nothing to see here, move along, move along.
  15. Looks very good...I especially like the canopy ledge! Nice detail!
  16. Should be easy to check it out...
  17. ...my desktop isn’t convenient for me in my comfy chair (which is where I like to read). I’ve thought about getting a Kindle™ or perhaps something similar, but for the price I could get a good used laptop from a pawnshop or Offer Up. A laptop isn’t nearly as portable nor as “cuddly” as a mid-sized E-reader, but a laptop or netbook/notebook can do much more than just provide a way of reading the various flight manuals in DCS. What do you suggest? What do you use to read the manuals and/or other E-books? Printing them out is ideal, but pretty expensive, especially in color and bound.
  18. I’ve seen YouTube videos on “how-to” make explosion effects and some other mad modeling stuff. I myself don’t have the time or inclination to do that, but I have thought about buying a wood dowel and make some “Topgun” training aids... but not sure about how to secure the wood to the plastic. Epoxy and some safety wire discreetly located, methinks.
  19. Contract with the US...we don’t have enough pilots!
  20. I’ve always wondered about the complete blacking out while under high G’s. Not the decrease of peripheral vision, but the complete “everything is black” effect. The unfortunate crash of an F/A18 in Star Wars Canyon recently is discussed in the video I’m linking to below. “Discussed” isn’t the right word, really he is just mentioning several possible causes of the crash. In the video, starting at 7:06 and in particular at 7:32 he describes the G-LOC (Gravity induced Loss Of Consciousness) effect, including once it wears off. According to the video author (who is also a veteran fighter pilot) there is a period of a few seconds where your body doesn’t respond correctly to your wishes, and a few more seconds where you don’t know your situation clearly. If this can be verified to be a common occurrence I’d like to see it implemented in DCS. As it is now, pilots in DCS can black out and immediately relax the stick, and maintain control of the aircraft and go right into the fight as vision clears enough to see the HUD. The few times I’ve passed out (from standing up too quickly), the effects I experienced were as described; I wouldn’t have been able to pick up a wooden block let alone aim at something 1000 meters away going 600+ Km/H.
  21. I’ve edited single player missions, resetting the start point for an aircraft is pretty simple. I’d think the triggers that indicate a “win” doesn’t include starting, taxiing, etc.
  22. That’s the B-17 with a big rotating plexiglas dome...”Airborne Visual Acquisition Component”. It was a precursor to the more familiar (and successful) AWACS.
  23. Just curious, what are those shotgun-shell things on his belt and leg?
