  1. Perhaps minor, but it's land mass nonetheless: I hope to find these islands modeled in Normandy 2, Isles Saint-Marcouf. These islands are complete with their own noteworthy landmarks, a rubbled fortress and coastal battery from the Napoleon era. Noteworthy to us, they became, technically, the first French territory that was liberated by the Allies, on 0430, June 6th. The Germans had been on the island (though not at that particular time), evident by mines that had inflicted 19 casualties to the Americans, despite there being no German personnel on the island on June 6th. Aside from that..it's also an island...two of them. It would any other day stick out against the ocean like a sore thumb, especially considering how close it is to the coast. As a landmark feature I'd be pretty happy to see it. Those that fly on Normandy at all before will recognize this particular estuary in the photo as well https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Îles_Saint-Marcouf
  2. I haven't completed the map yet and probably won't for a fair handful of days yet. I don't think I can automatically filter airfields away by date though, on the website I'm using. But I have added information and dates to each and every field and landing ground, if one wants to know more about the individual field
  3. I didn't say the upgrade was free however. Just that the area you already own in Normandy 1 or Channel is essentially already payed for in Normandy 2, if you already own it. Yeah broken missions is gonna suck for many though
  4. Ask and ye shall recieve
  5. Ah, ah, ah, ah, stayin' alive. Stayin' alive. Ah, ah, ah, ah, stayin' aliiii-
  6. On a different note, I'm keeping my eye out for a lot of airfields when this comes out, using that PDF I dropped on page 2 of this thread This is only the airfields in France (not ALGs) from A to halfway through C! Still adding more. Not all of these are involved with the map ofc, or in its timeline, but it helps get a better picture
  7. The only unfair thing would be that the Channel and Normandy map are separated, and you cannot fly from one map into the other without closing the mission and opening a different one. Not quite sure what you're trying to say expense-wise though. You're taking maps that cover separate areas, adding them together, and then calling the discount for an entirely new area unfair. Doesn't make sense. The area the Normandy 2 map overlaps with the Channel is in low detail, so there may not be much redundancy to the north east anyways. And besides that, I would welcome the redundancy since it would make the Normandy 2 map much more uniform, than having an L-shaped area of detail. That last part is more personal preference for me though, not any real numbers. And besides that(again lol), the real numbers; the discounted price for Normandy 2 is so minimal that you are essentially only paying for entirely new land area that neither Channel or Normandy v1 covered, this being the area to the north and east (excluding the low detail area where the Channel overlaps). If you have both maps, you are only paying $10 for the new land areas around London and east of Evreux. $10 for that. There is no ripoff here, if anything a steal of a price considering the $/sq-mi alone if you at least estimate a calculation of it. Those with Channel+Normandy are purchasing the previously-undone land areas for 1500sq/mi per $1...for a grand total of $10 altogether. I can't fathom why people are losing their heads over paying a discounted price over new map area that they definitely, absolutely, would NOT have had before. BOTTOM LINE: You are, essentially, not paying a second time for map area you already have. You are paying for all-new land/map area. Plus if you had Normandy v1, you are getting a free graphical upgrade to the Normandy v1 area, by how it sounds...at least corrected airfields which was pretty needed.
  8. You overestimate how confusing it really is. There was an old Normandy, now there is a new one with more area. It's that simple. Didn't need the 3 chapters of dialogue lol
  9. But you are paying for new area. You're getting hyperfocused on the name. Nobody has yet done these new parts of England and London, or Paris. And for this (ignoring that the part of Normandy 1 within V2 is supposed to be getting a revamp) you are paying a discounted price for a discounted addition of land area. So for what you get, no you aren't paying for a land area you already have...you never had that area. Edit: so at an estimate, when you bought Normandy 1 you got 402sqmi per 1USD. Now, cut away the area of Normandy 1 and the Channel map/low res area against the area of the overall Normandy 2 (this is the new land that hasn't been done by any maps as of yet). If you already had the Channel map and Normandy, you are getting an additional new 1500sqmi for each 1USD. If you had just Normandy 1, you're getting 1000sqmi of at least new high resolution detailed area per 1USD. This is the digital version of the Louisiana Purchase here.
  10. Its somewhat disheartening to see that the NE corner is going to be in low detail. As the closest bridge between the two lands, it would get a lot of attention for perhaps some more less historical, but more fun dogfighting fictional missions. Additionally there were a LOT of airfields, strips and satellites up in that NE area in general.
  11. Full book on all the French airfields occupied or taken over by the Germans. So ALGs not included http://www.ww2.dk/Airfields - France.pdf Luftwaffe Airfields 1935-45 France (with Corsica and Channel Islands) By Henry L. deZeng IV Even in Normandy 1 there are a number of fields missing. I look forward to seeing them added, as well as a more complete list for Normandy 2's expanded area..
  12. It also depends on your engine RPM. Since the oil pumps are mechanically connected to the drive shafts (vertical one, for some engine accessories, including pumps). Lower RPM should mean you'll be able to fly inverted for longer before your governor goes nuts. I am surprised that all this doesn't register on the oil pressure gauge though
  13. Where boost? ED, where boost
  14. I came to the same conclusion as well in my speed testing of the Mossie. On average its too slow
  15. Additionally if the coolant vapes off but then stops when the temp comes back down, that's the relief valve popping off
  16. Hello! I thought I owed this thread a bit of a wave, since it's been four months since my last message. This project has still never left my vision and I fully intend to get back to it as soon as I can. I may be able to restart my work sometime in October, perhaps even November. The list of things to do as mentioned way above, from 4K liveries, through completely redone riveting and to new normal maps are still my full intention. It's just an unfortunate case of waiting before I can resume the work. While we wait, if you're in the Americas, join 4YA WW2's multiplayer server! We need more people to seed the server during the American evening time zones. The goal is to acquire an attendance to rival that of the European time zones, which can go as high as 45 pilots in their evening. No reason we can't do the same here and have round-the-clock combat against real players and opponents. You can join the 4YA Discord here.
  17. Fly with the 332 on Saturday! US pilots needed! 1800EST
  18. Has this been brought to ED's attention as well, while rounds are being added/checked? Thanks for the update though! I appreciate you've been on top of this thread for so long
  19. Yeah I can confirm this, I stumbled on it some 7-8 months ago but tbh, didn't report it
  20. We need a new pilot model pretty severely now, for our old 51
  21. He isn't wrong. In reality, the best gains between cooling and slickening the airframe are around 1/3rd open for the coolant shutter. The coolant radiator doesn't just cool regular engine coolant, but thr aftercoolant for the supercharger as well (and this doesn't even have its own cockpit guage). As coolant temp is hotter, aftercoolant temp will get hot as well, decreasing the air charge and your brake horsepower. Roughly 1/3 open is that sweet spot. However this isn't the case in DCS, as BHP-loss does not appear to be modeled. As such, you are faster the more closed those radiators are, as your BHP will not change with the rise in temperature. Regarding when to use it: I'm mostly fine leaving them in auto. They only actuate when there's a +/-6C Delta, so they're a bit clunky, but work well enough. When I want to go fast, and I mean <profanity>mahpants fast, it is worth closing those shutters manually until your temps are perhaps on the high end of the green. However, if you find yourself in a turning dogfight, it is better to open the shutters wide. Your slower airspeed means they won't drag your airframe nearly as much, plus you make gains in being able to firewall or WEP the Mustang for a good amount of tight low-speed turns.
  22. You are able to open the ww2 weapons Lua and see the stats on each round type. Muzzle velocity, for one, is too slow on average for all .50 rounds, for instance. Aside from the drag curves also being very steep. Makes me wonder though, if this was corrected how accurate might the gyro gunsights still be/not be?
