Pretty sure the current price on a Rhino is $70 million, where a F-35 just dropped to about $90..
Straight up bullcrap from Boening who can't sell the Super Hornet internationally to save its life.
Preliminary fleet carry for A2G weapons in the A did not start until very late 1989 and early 1990 with VF-51, VF-111 and a few others. Tomcats *were* dropping dumb bombs, in practice, before Desert Storm but did not do so operationally until 1995 over Bosnia.
The A that HB is doing and the general time period for the A isn't correct by a few years for A2G work.
However it's worth noting that Tomcats won the US Navy bombing competition in 1993 using only CCIP and dumb bombs...that's with Intruders and Hornets in the mix ;)
To be fair the IFF is pretty sketchy at the moment...I've hard a target hard locked (STT) in the Hornet and even at only about 14 miles it was still giving me a hostile diamond and "shoot" indicators...only to have it turn into a box at 9 miles.
The F-14 HUD refresh wasn't as fast as later aircraft. Cobra has said they will probably have an option to have a normal refresh rate or a historically correct one.
The F-14 does have IFF, but it's not the NCTR like the F-15 has.
The lack of a fully updated and advanced IFF is a big reason the F-14 was kept out of the fight in Desert Storm for the most part.
Just let them finish the module at their best pace that maximizes a balance of speed and quality, folks.
The world will not end if you don't get the Tomcat in your sweaty virtual hands by New Years Eve.
It worked for me.
If you bought the module from the HB website you should have received a email from SendOwl downloads.
In that you should have a number that starts with something like...ED-etc etc etc...
Put that in the coupon spot and it should work
There is a good reason the unofficial nickname for the Tomcat was the turkey...
If you've ever seen a turkey fly..and then compare it to the Tomcat behind the boat..it'll make sense
ED's reasons for delaying the F-4 are their own, and likely confidential.
The F-16 arguably will appeal to more people and fits into the framework of the existing DCS world a bit better.
Oh I'm sure it's already happened for a long time now...we just don't hear about it.
If I were the Iranians I'd be a lot more worried about a "15" on their RWR
Wow...
Imagine spending this much time to write all of this...and still be wrong.
The S400, even with it's absolute least capable missile, still can reach up to 60,000 feet..with more advanced versions up to 100,000 feet...
The "fixing the radar issues" with the D involved replacing most of the guts of the AWG9 with the guts of the APG70 radar from the F-15E. Pretty much the only thing left over from the AWG9 was the radar transmitter and a few other items.
Unless the Iranians have wholly replaced the vacuum tubes and transistors of the AWG9 with solid state electronics and such...I doubt the reliability of the AliCats radar is improved at all.
We already have that...
Voice Attack can execute keyboard binds by voice input alone.
Jester, near target fox three" can easily be programmed to mean
JESTER MENU-OPEN-TARGET NEAREST-FIRE PHOENIX
The A-6 was 100% a superior medium to heavy attack aircraft. The A-7 was good, but there is a reason it was replaced as quickly as it was, where the A-6 soldiered on for nearly a decade more
When taxi'ing the crews would typically shut down one engine. The TF-30's nozzles weren't affected by gravity, so they stayed in whatever position they were on shut down
