  1. Yes , thank you.
  2. The Sparrow needs STT for guidance, so yeah..no TWS with the Aim-7. What the sparrow can use is FLOOD mode, which just blasts everything out in front of it with radar energy and the Sparrow would pitbull at whatever it wanted to. This was also known as HOLY CRAP BAD IDEA mode and at least in the Tomcat world..kills using FLOOD and the Sparrow were not considered legitimate
  3. Between 1992 and 1995 you'd have heard A's, B's and D's. by 1995 you'd have been hearing A's and D's as the Navy concentrated all F-14B's at Oceana in Virginia. Originally the plan was for an F-14D pacific fleet for the Tomcat, with the B's on the east coast. However obviously the Navy didn't get their hoped full amount of F-14D's, and only got about 1/4 of the F-14B's they wanted.
  4. Well consider that ED has *two* full developers studios working on the Hornet. ED is likely going the 3D models and graphics, Belsimtek is doing the systems coding and FM stuff. Heatblur is one design studio that has much less manpower and such.
  5. Thats what I meant..it’s EW systems and how they work and interact with the surrounding word
  6. I'm presuming you mean the placeholder F-14 models? Or would you say it's quite possibly going to be the most accurate model in DCS as a whole?
  7. Not enough unclassified info to do one to the fidelity required of a module.
  8. The engine has more than three settings folks (AB, MIL and IDLE).. A lot of aircraft will howl at just the right throttle setting and in certain conditions, like the F-15. F-15's will howl on approach similar to the Hornet. See below...this is fairly minor for an Eagle howl, I've heard it much, much louder. You can also hear it at 2:06 in that video.
  9. Which we appreciate more than you could imagine!
  10. It is the HB Tomcat. It's just the placeholder graphics and sound, etc.
  11. Yes, CSG1 (the vVFA-2 group) has a few real pilots, including a former Tomcat pilot.
  12. Well there goes the debate about the possibility of A2A weapons being used as SAM's.
  13. The only concern I have in terms of the sounds is capturing the uniquely asthmatic whine of the TF30's in certain flight conditions. I grew up near NAS Point Mugu and due to my aunt working on base, and my dad being a local police officer with lots of contacts, I spent a good amount of time on base.. I'm very familiar with how the Tomcats sounded, both the TF30's and the GE Cats. When a GE powered Tomcat was overhead, you had to look up to see if it was a Tomcat or a Hornet. When an Alpha Tomcat was overhead..you didn't need to look..it was obvious.
  14. They're most likely using the TGP as a long range VID. More often than not QRA ROE dictate positive VID before engagement...the TGP can provide a PVID at 10 miles or more.
  15. The Navy didn't give out a ton of info about the A and B Tomcats either, yet there is enough out there to do so.
  16. "A couple of years"? I think that's a bit much. Maybe a year, 18 months at the most.
  17. Basically the Hawks mixed it up with the Tomcats and the F3’s shot them with a fix one and ran away. Note this is unsubstantiated, AKAIK, beyond this one pilot talking about it. This is roughly in the same category as the Russians claiming secret DACT victories against Langley Eagles in 92/93 and virtually everything the Indian Air Force says about everything
  18. The USN routinely kept the doors off during combat ops when there were numerous and frequent AAR's.
  19. I certainly hope that's true
  20. Thanks Atooyi, you're a real asset when it comes to the AliCats :)
  21. So..I do love the new cloud textures..however I must say there's a few things that I do think would look better. With the "cloud density" setting..you either get these cotton ball poof clouds, or once you hit density 8, a thick layer. I kind of wish the cotton ball clouds would stop at density 4 or so and 5-6-7 would be variations like this... Cumulonimbus Clouds...and similar. Mixed formations, a mix of stratus and such..
  22. A VFA-15 Valions skin would be nice..
  23. The only difference between a -400 and what's in a F-15K or a Block 30/40/50 Viper is a 50" extension that was added to help it fit the Tomcat airframe..otherwise it was the same. The sound coming out of the rear of a F-15K etc would be very similar to a F-14B/D
  24. VFA-213 has honest to god shitty luck.
