  2. That’s false. ED have stated multiple times DCS is stuck with FSR1 for now because of technical reasons. They’ll update it to a later version once we have Vulkan.
  3. You'd better wait until we have the final flight model (rotor model) before attempting such shenanigans.
  4. That's a very valid source, as long as it's your Higher Self who was talking to you, and not someone/something pretending to be your Higher Self. How good is your discernment?
  5. Why not? A 9800X3D is not that power hungry, and a 7900XTX isn't either. You can stuff a 5080 in there and 850W will still be plenty. I prefer 1000W and I have used one for ages, but that doesn't mean it isn't overkill. 850W isn't enough for a 4090 or 5090, but anything else should be fine as long as you don't put a dozen harddrives in there as well.
  6. Your previous post. While I don't necessarily disagree with the sentiment, it wasn't conveyed in the most tactful of ways.
  7. Things are not as simple as that. In Vietnam many missiles failed because of wrong maintenance procedures, faulty wiring or simply the pilots not being trained enough on the limitations so they fired outside of the missile’s parameters (no tone, out of range, too high angle-off, etc). But other than that, yes deploying countermeasures in DCS is a simple dice roll.
  8. For a new build, I’d go for 64GB at a minimum. 96 or 128 if you want to be safe for the next 5-10 years. And yes, a 9800X3D is significantly better than a 7800X3D. But it depends on availability/price in your region.
  9. Buy me a drink, and we can see if we can work something out
  10. The term "AI" is so overused these days, it lost all meaning: everyone seems to mean something else...
  11. And there’s no downvote / 1-star button up top.
  12. I know that. What I said is something entirely different...
  13. Yes, you can clearly see that in action in Yoyo's Mi-24 campaign, for example: there it takes roughly 8 minutes for the wingman to take off once you're in the air. Basically AI helicopters think they are heavies, and taxi/take off like a C-5 Galaxy would. So much for "the year of the helicopter" ED promised us years ago, eh?
  14. Not just the sky, but city glow is also completely absent. There is a lot of room for improvement when it comes to lighting at night.
  15. Mission 5: That's not something campaign makers have a lot of influence over, really. They can try to mitigate some of the issues with AI through clever use of waypoint special commands etc, but in the end it's up to ED to fix.
  16. I managed to get past Mission 4 without generator/anti-ice problems
  17. I decided to give it a go, and Indeed with very subtle changes the results are quite good. On top of the dehaze and desaturate I checked the option with new white/black values (gamma correction I believe it's called). I believe I can get it to work in a way that pleases me, thanks for the recommendation
  18. I've never seen ReShade look good (looking at static screenshots taken on a monitor is vastly different from actually flying in VR), but perhaps that's just me. The obvious problem with using the in-game colour profiles (be it Teal-Orange2 or any other) is that it affects everything, not just ground textures. Also, because of how DCS lighting works, trees and grass will look vastly different in the distance compared to close-by. Yes, I tried the above Teal-Orange2 and it does make the grass look a lot better, but it mutes all other colours, and there's a lack of consistency. The only real solution is for either Ugra to fix this, or for someone (Barthek or CGTC for example) to make a texture pack.
  19. Bump Grass this green does exist IRL, but it’s rare and thus shouldn’t be as omnipresent as it is currently.
  20. Just think a second on why the US went with a glorified crop duster for their new platform: It's light, can takeoff and land pretty much anywhere, can loiter for ages, has 3-4 different sensors on it, APKWS and LGBs, … Light attack is basically an armed ISR platform for low-intensity combat.
  21. This is just episode 1 in a long series. I’d recommend you watch them all:
  22. I just ran that mission. Keep in mind it's the pilot's job to manoeuvre and position the helicopter in a way that gives Petrovich a proper line-of-sight to the target. By the time I spotted them (they are not easy to find), I was already pretty close and I managed to destroy 3 M-113s on the first pass. I had to come around for the last one, since it moved and was obstructed by smoke. I then approached from the opposite end, but Petrovich said: "target obstructed, need a different angle" so I broke off again and attacked from the side. This time I got the last M-113.
