  1. Yes I was wondering, because people seem to overcomplicate things. I just put it in the Saved Games\DCS\Missions\Campaigns\en folder, just like any other non-payware campaign
  2. There was probably a reason for the increasing focus on limiting collateral damage and development of systems such as Small Diameter Bomb.
  3. This actually might have been a driver bug: disabling ReBAR and then enabling it again fixed it. I'll leave this open instead of deleting it in case it helps anyone else. I had this same problem today with the AH-64D Sinai Take-off IA mission (which had always worked just fine but suddenly became unplayable with just 21 fps) until this disabling/re-enabling of ReBAR.
  4. DCS 2.9.17.12034 introduced this: Activating the new Medium cockpit Medium Cargo hold texture option still exceeds a 16GB VRAM buffer in the Afghanistan Runway Start Instant Action mission, which makes this new option pretty much useless. Setting Medium textures in the main DCS menu doesn't, so something is going on here: You can see the stuttering for yourself as the sim constantly has to swap textures between VRAM and system memory. Keeping this special option off and using High texture quality in the main DCS menu (which I can use for any other module) results in even lower framerates and more stuttering. Medium runs fine. It is however annoying to have to dig into the menu options to reduce texture quality for just this one module. And for those who are wondering: this is after a fresh boot without anything unnecessary running in the background.
  5. How? Why? Did I miss something? Does this campaign work differently from any other campaign? I'm confused: what mod are you talking about?
  6. Yup, many dried up riverbeds there for example that are missing completely from DCS.
  7. I agree: that’s exactly why it’s still so popular even to this day
  8. I for one learned my lesson the last 15 months or so: I take anything ED says with a truckload of salt (at best), about anything. Things get a lot easier that way
  9. Decades ago BIOS updates were risky, yes. But these days? Ah well, that’s up to everyone to decide for themselves I prefer to keep my BIOS up-to-date, as new AGESA versions often contain security updates too to help protect your system against newly discovered root kits. Oh and re-enabling ReBAR is only needed once per driver installation.
  10. How are those systems even in the same league? R-27R is the equivalent of AIM-7E/F IMO, and -ER is the equivalent of AIM-7M/P.
  11. 2 unique 3D models that up until that point didn’t exist in DCS, would be my guess
  12. ED can be faulted for many things, but not for setting release dates in stones and then not holding themselves to it. HeatBlur has done that in the past (multiple times even), but never ED. They always specify they “plan to” release in XYZ. If customers take that as gospel and get mad about it, that’s on them…
  13. Please use the search function and look around the forum a bit for posts from the other 65336645790831 users who asked this exact same question. The answers haven’t changed.
  14. While I don't necessarily disagree that ED can exhibit priorities that appear strange to us users, in the last 2 patches they fixed 2 things that prevented many people including myself from even taking a look at the module, let alone starting to dive into it: the pedal trim and VRAM issues. Those two should never have made it past the pre-release build and took a year to fix, so here we are
  15. There’s also Revo Uninstaller you can use to uninstall everything you don’t need, even Windows components. Jayz2Cents made a good video about it a while back. It will help, but not make a massive difference as to suddenly close the gap between 2D and VR. It’s impressive what ED has done with DX11 to make DCS VR run so well as it does, but in the end there’s only so much one can do until we get the updated engine.
  16. Wouldn’t that be caused by the improved normal maps instead?
  17. My mistake, I misunderstood then. That red exclamation mark indicates a double binding conflict, most likely either in the General or UI Layer tab so I’d check those. It doesn’t actually have anything to do with the CD REL button.
  18. I use a trackball with a scroll ring: it works well for me and is immersive: turning the scroll ring is similar enough to turning a dial in the cockpit
  19. We already have a remastered Caucasus map, so your proposal would make it Caucasus 3.0, not 2.0 . Other than that, you should use the forum's search function and read the existing threads about this exact same topic. Feel free to reply there to give it more traction so it stands out more to ED.
  20. Yes that’s what I think as well. There’s a ridiculous amount of AI “content” on YouTube and social media these days. It's up to us to be discerning…
  21. Yes, or simply selectable sea state 1-9 (as in those pictures above) as that seems to be officially recognised and thus more likely to be approved by ED I’d think…
  22. I haven’t used my ForceFeel in a few years: two of the motors stopped working, and sitting on that pad for prolonged periods of time was starting to become too painful for my scrawny behind
  23. In 2D, easily. In VR, I doubt it: even my 9800X3D is 100% “CPU bound: rendering thread”. Most likely there’s nothing we can do about that until we get Vulkan - and a decently advanced implementation at that.
  24. F I N A L L Y ! Everyone with less than 24GB VRAM rejoice!
