Telelite panel still in Russian
Raven (Elysian Angel) replied to JimmyAus's topic in Bugs and Problems
Multiple bugs with language options have been reported since launch. It is known. -
Won’t proximity to the ground render any pulse radar effectively useless, regardless of operating mode?
-
Any change made will take time to get used to, but upgrades are always good You'll get there!

It depends on which headset you use. On my Varjo Aero it renders perfectly, but it's a headset with a rather large physical "nose gap" that some people find annoying. So the problem is the rather large physical differences between different headsets, making a "one size fits all" solution for visors challenging. This will affect any module that uses a JHMCS (the upcoming F-15C as well for example), as you need the visor for the symbology. When flying MiG-29 users who don't like the visor can simply flip it up (or rather, not flip it down as it's up by default) and they don't lose anything.

I recently flew Baltic Dragon's Georgian War campaign again, and the lack of ground effect is one of the things that stood out to me as well, as you currently can't land "b y the book". But I'm sure we'll see adjustments when the FF version is closer to release, similar to what happened with MiG-29.

It’s not just SSAO. Anything screen-space will cause issues with foveated rendering in DCS currently - and DCS currently used a lot of that. The easiest way to check is with lens effects enabled: look at the sun, keep your head as still as possible but move your eyes around. It will become instantly obvious. Also an issue is that, and this is the most noticeable in dark cockpits (F-4 *cough*), your eyes cast “light beams” that move around where you look. This also happens in external view.

fixed internally Angle of attack indicator stuck
Raven (Elysian Angel) replied to ECTAE's topic in Bugs and Problems
Yes and it happens in the default hot start IA missions too. -
Inaccurate force feedback trim
Raven (Elysian Angel) replied to Gunfreak's topic in Bugs and Problems
Trimming works perfectly fine, both with Force Trim ON and Force Trim OFF. Remove your curves. -
Ok I made a new empty mission: Caucasus map, Batumi. I placed a hotstart player-controlled Kiowa with 3 wingmen in the parking area (no extra waypoint actions: just the default ones), took off, flew around a a bit and landed just fine without incident. The wingmen took off vertically and followed me all around. Then I changed the Kiowas to Mi-24s and did the same: again, my wingmen took off vertically and followed me around. I landed, 2 landed next to me, and 3 decided he couldn't get enough of me so he landed between me and 2 (he was jealous or something), destroying both our helicopters. 4 then decided he had enough of that and flew off into the distance... Ah DCS never fails to deliver some comic relief!

I didn’t notice anything unusual. After clearing FXO and Metashaders loading always takes longer, but that’s just for the first time you load in after deleting those folders. Nothing changed on my end.

I'm pretty sure ED has said several times in the past that they'll never share such data.

Special Options FFB tuning
Raven (Elysian Angel) replied to Raven (Elysian Angel)'s topic in Controller Questions and Bugs
Just to add some evidence to this thread, I present you with the forces that get loaded into my Rhino as reported by the VPforce FFB Configurator software (this is separate from the telemetry software, for those who don't know). You can see my user-configured damper/friction settings (roll lower than pitch), and that I have inertia disabled. You can also see that spring forces are exactly the same for the X and Y axes (4096 for X and 4096 for Y), resulting in higher perceived roll forces compared to pitch forces (because of how human anatomy works). I would love to have a slider in the Special Options that allows to set roll forces to 50%, which would result in 2048 for X and 4096 for Y - which is much more comfortable. *edit* For those who don't know, I'll add that Spring forces are determined by the module maker and are thus controlled by the application, in this case DCS - which is why "Spring (100%)" is greyed out. (Centre position in Y is reported as -1271 because the MiG-29 module supports displaced centre, which is a very good thing!) -
Funny thing is, DCS's behaviour is the opposite on my PC: the splashscreen is always in the background, even if the DCS process/window is focussed. But in Rudel's case, I would be annoyed too. I just wonder why the behaviour is different on my PC compared to what others described here...

The only information we have at the moment, is that Razbam modules will continue to work throughout 2.9.X If you read between the lines, that basically means support is running on its last legs, and the modules will either have serious issues or stop working altogether in 3.0.X (there likely won't be 2.10.X) - unless something changes and the dispute is resolved with an outcome that benefits end-users who are owners of the modules.

The most complex task will most likely be the radar. The FM is 80% or so there already because of FC3, but ED doesn't have Galinette - and as far as I know, the ED radar framework is still in Phase2, right? So we still need phase 3 for the F-16 and -18, and soon the -15.

Refraction is not modelled in any way in DCS. If it was, we would see it in warbirds for example. But then again, the visor is thin enough to render this a moot point I believe, and technology of optics has advanced a lot as well. I don’t see any weird things / distortions through my motorbike helmet visors either
-
I don’t see any other way. Changing a visor on a motorcycle helmet is likely child’s play compared to this (since there is no-built in tech in a motorcycle helmet), and I for one don’t want to change from dark to clear visor while riding You need to actually take off the helmet, and then it just takes a few seconds to pop off one visor and replace it with another. Again, on a military grade helmet this is unlikely to be that easy. I think it was YoYo who shared a picture a few months back, but I don’t recall in which thread.

Since the thread is tagged with “provide picture”, here goes:

It's probably still a bit too soon for any meaningful status update, other than "work has started". Personally, I'd expect something in the "2026 and beyond" video, and the first newsletter of 2026. We'll see...

This here is apparently a RL HGU55P helmet with Scorpion and clear visor, so they do exist IRL:
