  1. Not by Heatblur, but Cobra announced 2+ years ago it’s coming for all of their modules. ED has been either ignoring those requests or playing a “yes it’s coming - haha tricked you it isn’t! - we might do it at some point - we know it’s important so we requested it” game for the last 8 years. Many other developers did include it, and the upcoming Bo-105 will also have one
  2. I've also seen the same "two weeks" joke in the AppleTV show "For all mankind", which depicts an alternate 1960s-1970s where the Soviets beat the US in the "first man on the moon" PR race. I don't know where the producers got that joke, but perhaps it dates back even further than we thought?
  3. Yes it is, hence the amount of people asking developers to implement working helmet visors. That takes care of that problem
  4. “A” doesn’t exist really, other than an obscure pre-production prototype. But it tends to refer to the initial production version (called “Fulcrum-A”) by NATO and in this case it’s a “Project 9.12A” which is the slightly downgraded version for Warsaw-pact. As such there is no such thing as “MiG-29A”, there is only “MiG-29” with subversions (not using the NATO A-B-C version numbers). The correct name for the one we get in DCS should thus be “MiG-29 9.12A”. ”S” is the first upgrade since that initial production version, or 9.13 with the enlarged dorsal spine for extra internal fuel. These are aircraft produced since 1986. Then there is a 9.13S with further upgrades such as internal ECM, better radar, refinements to flight control, +2 degrees extra max AoA, and provision for 2 external wing tanks. but very few of those exist apparently. So when people talk about “MiG-29S” they tend to refer to “MiG-29 9.13S” since that’s the one we have in FC3.
  5. It won’t, at least according to Chizh: no ASW helo will be made by ED since the development cost would exceed the profits from sales.
  6. I’m sure the MiG-29”A” will live long and prosper
  7. I'd be seriously concerned if it wasn't, since it's ED's first one based on 3D laser scanning and photogrammetry, and it's the most recent module.
  8. Apparently reading is hard:
  9. In an appropriate setting (aka with the Hornet limited to AIM-9L/M and AIM-7F/M), yes actually
  10. Those were actually very few aircraft: the ones in the most "elite" squadrons were rushed to get to upgrades, while the others - such as the USAFE birds deployed at Soesterberg were all pre-MSIP.
  11. Obviously this was an instant purchase! Onwards and upwards towards more FF RedFor modules!
  12. Presuming you mean 13GB since 13Gb is ridiculous, you're lucky then: as I'm sure you're aware the Chinook subforum is filled with angry people asking/demanding ED to optimise the Chinook's textures because it exceeds their available buffer size. But there are several factors determining the VRAM demand, not just the module itself: headset resolution, anti-aliasing, ...
  13. Reported as 'in use': when the limit gets exceeded all the usual stutters happen. Older modules obviously use far less: 10-11GB and FC3 only around 8.
  14. I usually sit between 14-15GB of VRAM in use, and with the Chinook that jumps to 18GB.
  15. When I'm riding my motorbike in the rain, wind blows water drops off my helmet visor as well, so the speed at which that happens certainly isn't that high - particularly when you're talking about aviation speeds...
  16. Yes it is: to look at it i have to roll up my irises so much my eyes hurt. I fail to see why it’s so hard to make a Special Option that allows users to adjust the default position. If Heatblur can do it, so can ED…
  17. Famous last words!
  18. I took out an Apache again over Port Stanley, and I couldn't reproduce it either. Since I experienced it last time, there have been new releases of graphics drivers, chipset drivers AND a new BIOS so perhaps that either fixed it or somehow a BIOS option got changed so the issue no longer gets triggered I don't know... I'll keep an eye on it.
  19. I'm going to stick with 576.28 for now. That one works perfectly well and I see no reason to update to 576.40
  20. That’s pretty much impossible given the different hardware people have… ED already has such an algorithm to set cockpit lighting and MFD brightness depending on the time of day your aircraft spawns at. Have you ever known that to be even remotely accurate? At the industry standard gamma 2.2 deserts are already far too bright for me, and the colours washed out. A visor fixes that. I see in your signature that you’re using a Reverb G2, and I know from experience there’s a massive difference between a G2 and what I use (Aero Varjo) in terms of brightness and colours. Remember that gamma doesn’t just affect brightness: it shifts the entire colour spectrum.
